id like to see you of an analysis of Arsenal this season they have evolved from 4-2-3-1 to 4-1-4-1 with Zinchenko coming inside to make it look like a 3-2-4-1 I think this is very unique even to Man city

De Zerbi is a genius tactician and man manager. He transforms players. His system is entertaining. Hoping for European football or the FA Cup. Seagulls!! 🕊️
Chelsea should have gotten him instead of potter.. we have struggled for form and goals with potter at the helm despite having arguably the best squad with the most depth and youth to it.
He used this buildup for the first time at Shaktar two years ago and also in the last match at Sassuolo (I’m an italian guy who love is style of play, he is one of my hero, and now I’m very happy because he is in the battle for Europe in Premier)
As an Italian football lover and huge De Zerbi's fan, I must say that I never seen such accurate and detailed tactical video about his football philosophy. Great video!
The 2-4 buildup shape is very effective due to the defending team throwing only 5 players max in pressing. Pep usually uses this shape against Klopp’s Liverpool, although he is switching to a back 3 in recent matches
Brighton had the perfect team to work with De Zerbis tactics due to in no small part Potter building a very fluid high pass accuracy team that could work in multiple systems. Give potter enough time at Chelsea, and he will build them to a high level again, it will just not be the instant gratification that Chelsea fans have been used to. They've been the English galacticos for the last 20 years new they need to build a more solid foundation to compete with city, look at arsenal they gave Arteta time, and it's looking to finally pay out.
It turned out for the better but wasn't a blessing having your manager taken and ripped out the resting coaching staff and left us with under 23's coach to take charge. For that Potter won't be forgiven even with the amazing job he did. Bruno was massive disappointment he was a legend
Great video mate. Another dive into the myriad of ways possession based, attacking football principles have been applied and tweaked for amazing results. Really good stuff from De Zerbi, Brighton and this content creator.
I saw all these elements in De Zerbi's first game in charge at Brighton. I didn't get a clear picture of the details as you have explained now. However, I saw the element of aggressive pushing of passes to spaces from the defence to the attack on several occasions during their transition and Trossard was a constant threat in and around the opposition's box. Great analysis. I understand the dynamics better now.
I am a Napoli fan and Spalletti has done a fantastic job killing the competition. If he goes away at the end of this year, I pray for De Zerbi to come. I have wanted him at Napoli since his days at Sassuolo.
I am a Japanese fan. There is one big problem with Brighton football. That is that once I get used to watching their beautiful games, it becomes very boring to watch the Japanese national team.
Like De Zerbi's approach, possession football! because if you don't have the ball you can't create, and having the right piece on the field this style of football is deadly.
brighton under de zerbi is the most entertaining team in pl to watch, even for me as a madrid fans. The way they build up their attack and release from opposition pressing is just amazing.
The added bonus of having 2 CMs close to CBs is if they lose the ball in build up they have more cover. Be interesting to see 3rd man runs from CBs when ball played to CM or even from gk but that would be risky.
great video. The recent VAR decisions make me think there is a deliberate attempt to maintain the big 6 to placate their desire for a Super League. Brighton remain at the forefront of innovation and a recent Monday Night Club interview with David Weir (Technical Director at Brighton) only highlighted the brilliance of its model.
Brighton CBs did this a lot against Leeds. Dunk and Webster would stand on the ball just waiting for us to press. Unfortunately, the crowd piled on the pressure for Leeds to press and press, but it allowed Dunk and Webster to set traps and pass out, leaving us vulnerable in midfield with big gaps.
I was there and I'll be the first to admit that I was very frustrated by our low press. Fans were furious but it shows that they wanted us to press when they were just stood waiting for us rather than playing a pass
Correct analysis. We have had over a decade of "The press" winning the ball high up by showing the weakness in opposition defences to pass the ball out of trouble. Or face hoofing the ball up the other end. Thanks to Graham Potter the whole Brighton team are properly comfortable on the ball. So now with RDZ, they actually want "The press" and thrive off the opposition pushing too far forward, committing and leaving gaps behind. So this works well against the larger clubs that enact the press, such as City, Liverpool and United. Where Brighton have got to adjust is against teams that just sit back and say "come on them." Historically, that was a problem under Potter, beating United one week and then struggling against Bournemouth. But I think RDZ is working through it.
De Zerbi lost macallister and caicedo. 2 of their most important players yet there has been no drop off in their performances which is a testament to De Zerbi’s system. May be Other coaches can learn to create a system like this that really isn’t dependant on few players. Genuis!

can you do a video when Brighton beat Arsenal towards the end of the season? I'm not so good at analysis but I felt that in this game, this is where De Zerbi's system really shined
The system is really effective against team that wanted the ball as soon as possible, that’s why they win a lot against Liverpool. It’s really effective against Arsenal because they got everything to lose in that match. It’s only natural for Arsenal player to go for the ball, go for the press, trying to force any errors within early buildup of Brighton and kill the game early because the title is on the line. Brighton loves playing against this kind of opponent, because their “zonal trap” by playing the ball nearby their defensive lines and inviting pressure intentionally will be easy to implement. It’s like fishing in a pond full of hungry Piranha, it’s a near 100% guarantee that Arsenal attacking line and their pressing midfield line will bite the baits. Arsenal attacking and midfield line really fell right to Brighton traps in that match.

I hope mitoma stays in Brighton. He really suits deserbi’s tactics. His amazing through ball is getting used in a beautiful way. They just need to improved their finishing and Brighton will be more of a threat on the PL big clubs. Tbh we’ve seen a lot of choking with ferguson and others. Been fascinated with 3rd man passes I really love his tactics and imo as someone who’s not a Brighton fan I think he’s a better manager than potter
De Zerbi is TOP. His Sassuolo days were fantastic.
Watching this after BHA vs Man Utd EPL match, i can now attest to this..this guy is simple football genius, my own ETH was out of ideas, completely out played, mutilated and left to hung..
what..the United were half dead by that point. And Brighton have good players they finished 9th with Potter.
On top of that they added Caicedo, Enciso, Ferguson etc. RDZ's 6th finish is impressive. Genius, absolutely not.
How Lewis Dunk isn’t in that England team is a crime beat English CB in the Prem
Totally agree. He's been the best English center-half for years. Completely ignored by Southgate because he doesn't play for a corrupt oil-rich club.
This Brighton side reminds me Atalanta 2018-2021! AMAZING
The analysis was great👌 Shining light on our understanding of this exciting team. Roberto de zerbi the great tactician! I hope to see him in Barcelona one day
And you got to mention the sport directing. Scouting and signing these fantastic talents from all over the world: julio Enciso, Buenanotte, Undav, Mitoma, Even Ferguson, Caicedo and... 💯🤌
