    For anyone who is stuck on the Vertex color mask part (16:03), the Shortcut for "set vertex color," Shift + K, has been changed to CTRL + K in Blender 4.0.

    • @lewisanimation
      @lewisanimation  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@vonown3d Absolutely, you can pretty much add imperfections to any material this way! You just change the glass material at the start to the shiny plastic material you want to use, then layer the imperfections on top!

    Many times I see comments in tutorials like "this is the best turorial I have seen", but often feel its an overstatement. This is not the case. Fair to say one of the best I have seen, I came to learn about how to make a realistic glass shader, but I feel I found one of the best if not the best intermediate tutorial about blender shading that I have seen. The masks part its amazing, the overall quality and the amount of useful tips and well presented information. Simply amazing. Thanks so much for this gift.

    One *VERY* important thing to not forget is to set the *_glossy bounces_* high enough too. Because the light will bounce around within the glass, until the glossy bounce limit is reached, and will result in black artifacts in especially borders and bevels, when looked at from a shallow angle.
    It took me ages to figure out where those black artifacts came from, as I had transmission bounces high enough, but those don't count towards inner material reflections.
