Okay. This is intense. I met Charles Pettigrew in Seattle in...'99? He was playing as the lead singer of the Tom Tom Club (Genius of Love) I met him after the show and i talked with him for a long time. At the end of the conversation, we were both in tears. He told me about constant longing for approval after having succeeded in the music industry (with this beautiful song...) and then having been "forgotten." He wept that he couldn't provide for his BElOVeD mother as well as he used to you, and the burden of the sorrow. I reassured him as much as I could, as a relative stranger, and I reassurd him that his gift was absolutely eternal and endless. He had met with all success/exceeding boundaries of beauty and art and music. He was so thankful. He held my hand and we cried together. I hear he passed away a couple of years hence. I will never forget my encounter with Charles Pettigrew. He touched me. I told him that too. You've "touched" people. Forever.

I recently discovered this song! It’s amazing! I’m starting to like older music! It’s way better! It had more class! I’m 33 and this doesn’t compare to what I grew up with!
Uh no. Music today is no more or less good or trash then it was then. You only think it is because you were in a happier stage in life. Older people always think the music of their time was better and current music is ‘trash’, but it’s far from the truth. You just sound old and out of touch.🔱
This has always been one of those songs that hits just right and I just realized I went to elementary school with Eddie! He was the nicest boy in the class. Good job, Eddie!

Forever.
Ciao Margaret, I'm Marco from Italia and I'm still love their music. You are so lucky to meeting Charles. And thank you for yr post. About Eddy? Any news? Thank you Margaret.
Marco Minerva avrebbe sicuramente meritato di più questo gruppo, in effetti Eddie che fine ha fatto ?
Margaret Frey such a great story, thanks for sharing with all of us, a beautiful and lovely experience for you, these are the kind of things that someone could never forget
Great story
I wished I'd known him. He sounded like he was a beautiful soul.

Timeless song. From the simple lyrics & phrasing to the harmonies & arrangement. Incredible vocals all around including the backup singers.

For me this Song is absolut timeless!!!
Good morning Yessss veryyyyy good memories boysssss
Those summer days in the 80's 90's listening to real music, chilling with friends,family... the good old days.

Why can't today's music be like this?? Simply beautiful, with a beautiful message for that someone special.
True❤️
@@olivianikoline3429 thank you xxx
You say a beautiful message for someone special, but he says would i lie to you and then you hear oh yeah, so yeah he would lie to you lol. Sorry lol
@laurenarkle5832 Alright, so he maybe admitting to lying, but sometimes people lie to their loved ones to appease them and not necessarily to please themselves.
WTF I always thought this song was made by Michael Jackson 🤔
Anyone else thoughts the same here ?
Habe gerade alte Kassetten gefunden ...angehört❤❤❤, dieses Lied auf dre "Playlist" gefunden..., einfach schön, meine Jugendzeit.. ❤❤❤
I recently discovered this song! It’s amazing! I’m starting to like older music! It’s way better! It had more class! I’m 33 and this doesn’t compare to what I grew up with!
Me too! Thx to tiktok!!! Love from malaysia❤
No doubt
If you are 33 you should have listened to 90s music at least. Im 35 btw and know and love all of the 90s,80s stuff much better than todays music
If you’re 33 and never heard this song that it’s your fault
There’s just a lot of music I never heard of . Is that wrong? 🤷🏽♀️ I just started discovering more music that I never heard of

I am 33 years old and I heard this in rite aid one day and Ive been addicted ever since.
I was born in 1982 and I remember this song when I was a kid
Same! I was born in 1985. It's one of the songs of my childhood, I began loving music very early (my first favourite song was Lambada in 1989).
Been listening to this song since 1992 and it still has the original charm.
Wow amazing x
This was my jam. Wore out the cassette single! Does that give my age away...😉
haha So did I!!

Forever classic....still a banger till this day,😍🤩
Memories of 1992. Good times :)
I was sure it's from 1993 😮
This song is 30 years old and far better than most music being churned out today
Yeahhh
ofcourse now music is trash
It's one of my all time favourites. Just awesome.
Uh no. Music today is no more or less good or trash then it was then. You only think it is because you were in a happier stage in life. Older people always think the music of their time was better and current music is ‘trash’, but it’s far from the truth. You just sound old and out of touch.🔱
*30 years* ... *une vie* ... *de gloire* *would i lie to them* ?
Alguien más en 2023 disfrutando este temazo??❤❤❤❤
Hayyyyyy está si era musica 😊😊😊😊😊😊

Turned my daughter on to this song about 15 years ago, then this past summer she got married. She asked me long before the ceremony to guess what our, "Father -Daughter dance was...I told her this song without hesitation. Which shocked her and her husband. Point being...Dad still got the moves and Dad always has your back Hun.🤙
