@@Liam123-r8o Lol, no. This video & song were played all the time circa 1995-1996 on local TV stations. Then it stopped & I totally forgot the song until I heard it again in January 2023.
This is a great song and video to listen to and watch around Halloween. I'll never forget how fitting it was when I heard this on the radio in late October 1994 as I was driving around suburban Omaha delivering pizza on an overcast evening during rush hour with autumn in full swing and spooky decor on some houses. It's hard to believe that was almost 30 years ago--the perfection of that moment was so profound that I always get a warm, happy feeling in my gut when I think about it, especially now that we're knocking on Halloween in 2023.
This was one of my favorite songs when i was really young, like 8-10 years old. I remember listening to it on the radio while my dad was driving. When i was 12 i lost my dad to cancer and after that i completely forgot about this song. One day, around a year ago, i randomly heard it on a sidemen video and i almost freaked out. I managed to find the name, since i never actually knew how it was called, and i burst into tears because i instantly remembered those times when my dad was driving and this song was playing on the radio. Back when my life was pretty much perfect and my dad was still here with me. Now i'm 21, it's been almost 9 god damn years since i lost him, but songs like this help bring back many good memories.

welcome back
So long? Did you live in a cave? 😳
@@Liam123-r8o Lol, no. This video & song were played all the time circa 1995-1996 on local TV stations. Then it stopped & I totally forgot the song until I heard it again in January 2023.
@@Djordje_Jovanovic 🙂👍. I love this song too.
Nostalgia is a powerful emotion ❤
This is a great song and video to listen to and watch around Halloween. I'll never forget how fitting it was when I heard this on the radio in late October 1994 as I was driving around suburban Omaha delivering pizza on an overcast evening during rush hour with autumn in full swing and spooky decor on some houses. It's hard to believe that was almost 30 years ago--the perfection of that moment was so profound that I always get a warm, happy feeling in my gut when I think about it, especially now that we're knocking on Halloween in 2023.
I love personal stories like this. Thanks for sharing, made me smile today 😊
Definitely a Halloween song👍👍
I always got a Halloween vibe from this song, thought it was just me!
Im 21 too. Also, life be like that sometimes.
I'm 21 too. I heard this from a Charlie's Angles movie.
Thanks for sharing that memory!

I love the drum fill at 2:03 so basic n simple, but adds so much
Congratulations Edwyn Collins, you sir have made one of the greatest songs ever, a song that will transcend time itself. We will hear this song in movies for the rest of eternity.
Was this his only super hit? Is he still active?
@@whojanson6751 I seem to recall he had a really bad stroke. Until this song he was best known for being in the band Orange Juice and their singke 'Rip It Up' which is another doozie.

This song is a masterpiece! When the song was released, it was far ahead of the time
Absolutely! It sounds like the producer was yonderboi if you know him :) Solubitch ;)
Exactly. i clearly remember hearing this song when i was a kid like 20 years ago but i never realized until now what a masterpiece it is.

This song needs a big comeback, it's iconic. Best use for it was in the movie Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle.

This song always reminds me of my Amazing uncle Mark. Always played this in the car he has some of the best taste in music and got me onto bands such as joy division, new order, happy Mondays just to name a few! He passed in 2006 aged 44 and I miss him so much but everytime I hear this it reminds me of all the good times xxx
Edwin Collins died 😢
I have a cousin named Mark who did the same for me! He was in high school when I was in kindergarten and he had posters on his walls of David Bowie, The Who, The Stones… and John McEnroe? Lol Mark made me mixed tapes in the 90s full of great music when I was in college- and he took me to my first Black Crows concert.

This song channels the best of the 50s, 60s and 70s.
bro this song is 90's xD
@@LP00151987That’s true, but it (meaning the song) sounds nothing like a song from the 1990s!
Love this masterpiece.
If you metaphysically reincarnated David Bowie and Elvis's voice for a song you'd have Edwyn Collins..... This is without a doubt one of the greatest tunes of any generation! I can't believe he never blew up after this hit...... I also love the video and and especially the two nods in the video when he says... And I never had a girl like you before... It make the song Very personal and believable.
Bowie and Presley are right on for the deep shaky sound he has, except that Edwin is less stylized than either one. A very natural, raw, sexy delivery. Tres masculin,
He couldn't do the work needed to make himself better known after the stroke.
Yes a long time ago i thought this song was sung by Bowie
I did as well assumed it was David Bowie when it played in background of movie Charlie's Angels Full Throttle.
Cheers
This song has paid his mortgage and then some, he's done very well! We'll be listening to this in 50 years time still.

This song played at my sister’s funeral, it will be forever etched in my mind because she liked it and her friend painted me a picture of her with the lyrics on the side, i will turn them into a tattoo one day
Sorry if this sounds insensitive, but it sounds like she had a kick-arse funeral.
Sorry for your loss ❤️ she must've been pretty awesome to have such a send off.

@John Deer your a nobody mate, dont tell people what to do
@John Deer dont be so sensible kid, i will elaborate... No one has the right or the wisdom to tell other human " you shall not do that", we are all nobodies in terms of ultimate truth... if he feels like tattoing or whatever is his thing. And chill mate, no need to waste energy (and comment on my videos like a creep) on what strangers say about you, you are just showing you are triggered.
Probably the best song ever - awesome distorted guitar, haunting vocals, ghostly drum beat and great timeless psychedellic 60s vibe.
