Friends, I see a lot of you all saying you're starting over at 30, and I am proud of you all. I am 44 starting over, and I have no shame. I stayed in a career too long for loyalty to everybody but me. So just know, as long as God gives you another day, you can make a new way! Blessings to all of us who seek a better life and path
Right on! As a product manager at a technology company I bounce between pm and video game development. I realized having a game development background really helped me in my pm path as well as providing multiple options. You’ll rock it! Enjoy the journey! Also it’s never too late. I stated to learn to become a pilot at 39.
That's amazing I always wanted to learn how to fly. This gives me inspiration. Question for you, I'm a business product PM looking to get into video games, what would you say is the best way to start?
Wow you have no idea how healing for me it was to see another woman who was 30 years old starting over!!! Thank you and looking forward to walking through this journey of starting over with you (digitally haha)
I am just starting over at 34 after I finally got the balls to follow my passion and allow myself to become a travel blogger. Your video was just what I needed. Thank you!
I just started over in ui/ux design and im 31 and seeing this was very affirming for me because I really put it off coz I felt I was too old. Thank you for this ❤
Design school looks so fun! I've been working on my design eye through running my university club's social media, and it's definitely not something I new how to execute before I started! Knowing what looks good and knowing the how and why are two different skills, but I hope upskilling in this area can reap some benefits going forward! also highkey obsessed with the "good soup" sweatshirt. such a cute blue color!
Thank you for your videos! Taking the time to heal from a brain injury makes me feel so behind my peers. Seeing your videos and reading the comments makes me realise that maybe I'm not so behind after all. Maybe just maybe I'm on my own time line and everything will work out. Thank you for the hope.
After spending a good 7 years in Software Engineering and PM and also recently getting laid off lol I decided to become Self-Employeed & star my own business this year. Also, I will focus full-time in music production as I have been working with artists for the past 4 years and I have been a ghostwriter. I know that everything seems a bit crazy out there right now inlcuidng the economy of course, but I def need a break from tech haha @@chloeshih

Awesome you are repurposing your skillset. I work in the New York advertising market for 20 years. So, I was able to relate to the excitement. Keep throwing out that positive energy!
Yes. i began in retail advertising advertising, afterwards financial marketing and finally medical advertising as a freelancer. Continued success with the channel.@@chloeshih
I've been getting into graphic design and fonts from a hobbyist perspective, Comic Sans is a meme now. So much cool stuff to learn about fonts good luck with school!
fellow young creator here - loved this so much. i can relate to so much of what you said. starting over can be scary, but what's even scarier is staying in something you know you aren't passionate about / don't remotely care about. your videos rock! they're cinematic, hilarious, touching, and feel like a friend all at the same time. you're part of the reason i started my own channel and you inspire me every day.
I really enjoy exploring new interests. I began as a writer/producer but soon found myself drawn to design and video editing. It's pretty cool how learning both has made me a more well-rounded creative, helping me offer better feedback and develop ideas more effectively. So jealous of the typography class!
I have started over several times just in different areas of my life. Marriage, kids, etc... changes things. I'm 45 and starting over with work. I had to leave teaching to stay home with my girls for health reasons. My youngest needed 24/7 care. Now, I am trying to work from home now that she's 7 and doesn't need 100% mommy time. Now it's 90% or less on good days. Starting over is wonderful because it's a whole new chapter of your life with blank pages to be filled my you.
Yayy! Congrats on 100K!! I'm pretty much a newbie here, been following for less than a year but I smile and run when I see the notification of your uploads. I am pushing on 30 and am also in the process of navigating a big career change too... which is how I found your channel ^.^ xx
As an individual who was laid off last July, I really appreciate your thoughts about learning something new, especially your comment on "No, I'm not switching careers." I come from a software engineer background and transitioned into an agile coaching role, but I still want to learn more about coding and how software really works.
also starting over in my early 30s in a whole new sector - you were one of my early PM inspirations, your motivation and drive was a huge inspiration so this only adds to that! ❤ you're gonna be an incredible designer, I can't wait to see your work
I am 31+ and start new, and i think i am stepping in amazing new chapter!!!!! Something that was my dream and it will come out with little steps😍so girl you will rock it
I would love to learn more about design school. What does it prepare you for? What aspects of design does it cover? I ask bec I took an Industrial Design class in college and it was my absolute favorite class.
So excited to see all these amazing things happening for you post-layoff 😍 Thank you for sharing them with us and looking forward to seeing more of what you do!!
Oh wow this takes me back to my design school days and learning and experimentation with type and especially the kerning and leading exercises. oof. We learnt so much and my favorite classes were UI/UX and Motion Graphics!
I'm currently taking a free online course on graphic design on Coursera and last week's class was about typography! It's so cool to learn about different typefaces, their "personalities" and when to use them😍 I like geeking out about it hahah
I've been starting over and over for 37 years now and as of the moment I'm still figuring everything out. But I will not give up not until I'll find what I'm looking for.❤
haha aww yayyy!! hope you enjoyed this video ~ last week was too busy with the whole 👰👰👰 situation, so couldn't upload. hope to upload that vlog next week!
I’m still very early in my 20s but feel like I’ve learned so much thanks to you to make my 20s the best years of my life. And keep that good energy going past 20s as well thanks to your videos💜
aww so glad to hear! im actually planning on doing a "30 things i've learned by 30" or "20 things i've learned in my 20s" video. hope that'll be insightful!
Interesting thing about design is how it opens your mind in new ways, keeping your creativity going is integral for growth. You could branch in some fun ways, such as human centered design which you can approach in futurist-sense with the intersection of prompt engineering concepts and processes. Prompt engineers are making up to $300k! (Wtf??) I have had my M1 Max very similar specs for 2 years (when around M1 launched). Love it - 14” and no ragrets! Best of luck with the next steps in the career, new sub because you are funny!
hahahahhahahaha this is so eerie I have the same story, I'm just a tad bit younger (turning 29 this year). Had a job breakup as a PM, learning UX now and working on my first client. It is super scary because this is what you have known but I will add that having financial security is a giant help and makes the process much easier.
As someone close to 30 and being through lots of changes now as well, this is so relatable. Feeling quite insecure at this moment, but hopefully I can figure out my future soon. From Taiwan as well :))
Hi, Chloe. I just found you channel 1 week ago and I'm so glad I did. I see you are starting a whole new chapter of your life and career and I'm very excited to see what you will do next. Hopefully, now that are job hunting you will create your course so I can get to have classes with you. I'm hoping to study more about product management and I also love design and so many other hobbies that you seem to share. Wishing you just the BEST. Love from Brazil!
hey Chloe, love your videos 🥰 I wanted to ask your make up is always so gorgeous and sparkly what eye shadows do you use? I want to be just as glittery ✨💗
Art Center campus in Pasadena is sooooo nice i highly recommend going there as much as possible not only for the campus but to be surrounded by others going through the creative journey. idk how it is outside of transportation design but it can get VERY PAINFUL
this is true!!! i've been enjoying getting to know how my other classmates think about their design assignments. really neat to see other people's progress!
Chole!!! Sis!!!! You’re not alone!!!! (Ignore all my exclamation marks… just screaming through my fingers cuz I’m soo excited). I just signed up for career foundry to learn product management and I’m also 30 and pivoting into pm is scary but I know it’s going to be the best decision of my life! I’m sooo excited for you!! Also new subbie 🤍🤍
oh SNAP!! so PUMPED FOR YOU! do tell me how it goes for you. i'm very interested!!! I'm so excited for your PM journey! It's not an easy one, but I really enjoy the job!!! Also haha i've never heard of someone call it "subbie" before that's so cute!!!

Learning about fonts in design school was really interesting. We did have to watch the documentary Helvetica that you might enjoy and one of the books we read was Thinking With Type by Ellen Lupton
Rooting for you! You radiate positivity and optimism, it's inspiring! Keep persevering 🫶🏼 As a fresh grad from design school, I'm feeling a bit intimidated trying to get into the creative field but your videos are keeping me hopeful and motivated. So, thank you! 🤍
i'm trying to break into design but i've been having the hardest time ever! it seems like designers are becoming oversaturated and laid off, what a struggle!
:( I do think design is always going to needed in this new digital era and elevated design standards consumers have. Maybe we can’t control layoffs, but we can control how malleable our skills can be!
I have to stop watching and first comment my thoughts😂 our experience are so similar, when you posted the burnout leave video I started to think about asking for a burnout leave, and guess what when you got laid off. I got laid off at the same time lol 😂 and after a few months, I started thinking about trying to be a jewelry designer, and you were also trying to learn designs too!! 😂your video can always give me energy❤ keep doing the great work!
Thank you for sharing this! I am 31 and trying to switch careers, it makes me feel less alone seeing other women around my age pursuing new opportunities🥰
It’d be great if you could also share how you’re affording these shifts in your career, ie. Was it difficult to apply for design school, and how are you affording it?
design school is actually $830 for like 14 weeks! and i had it approved last year with discord as my part of our learning program, so i got it subsidized. I just didn't end up taking it until this year.
Hi Chloe! When you say starting over do you mean completely shifting career from PM to design or learning something new? I'm sorry I couldn't figure it out, if someone else knows in the comment feel free to reply! No matter what you pick, I know you are going to be successful, you just have that energy!
i feel like i've barely started tbh ..i'm 27, and my job is nothing to do with what i'd like to be doing in life, it's just a job if i was even remotely in my chosen field of work, or a job i enjoyed by 30, i'd be ecstatic
Hi Chloe, thanks so much for sharing! I'm currently working in Strategy and Ops at Google and want to move towards a more design centric role (such as say Product Management or others) within the tech sector. Could you share more details on where you're doing this design course and by any chance, if you could make a video on what exactly does design school cover, that might be really helpful! Thanks a ton!
Never too late to start anything. Unfortunately tech industry are laying off in US of A, but hiring big time in LATAM, and places like Vietnam, I know because I interview them several times a week. My US based team virtually have no growth the last few years but everywhere else outside of USA is adding resources.
I just need to start over my life as well! I am married and have kids… I still feel lonely or left out. Tried to make some new friends but they don’t seem that connected to me! I want to start over again… giving importance to people that matters to me the most! Though I feel very lonely… I do know God is in control!
You’re a full time influencer now, you have to say “everything is linked down below” and do it for everything. Hint: the cup in which you brewed your tea. 😂
That's a lot of percents got me howling 😂 I'm actually going through my AI PM specialization right now - so I toTAHlly agree with you on being specialized and how it can be better. Except in my case, I currently lead Product DEVELOPMENT for AI & Data in the country I'm in for Accenture... I want to jump to P. MANAGEMENT and that's been like pulling TEETH man... not a lot of M-ing in the Nordics for big Tech and big 4-ishs. Can't wait for the wedding video now 🥺🫶

Starting over on anything is hard you got this though Chloe ❤❤
thank you!! ❤❤
All the best Chloe!
all the best, florence ~~ thank u for watching!
Such an inspiration!
which design school are you attending? do you recommend? how was the process deciding school?
I feel the same way when I get mesmerized by a design.
it's art~~~
Hi Chloe! When you say starting over do you mean completely shifting career from PM to design or learning something new? I'm sorry I couldn't figure it out, if someone else knows in the comment feel free to reply! No matter what you pick, I know you are going to be successful, you just have that energy!
i feel like i've barely started tbh ..i'm 27, and my job is nothing to do with what i'd like to be doing in life, it's just a job
if i was even remotely in my chosen field of work, or a job i enjoyed by 30, i'd be ecstatic
Happy Chinese new year 🎉 happy to see your new vlog 😊
happy chinese new year!! i actually hosted CNY/LNY and made everyone make dumplings haha. that'll be in the next vlog coming out hopefully next week!!
What design school/program did you chooses and why? I’m a product manager and considering transitioning to design. Would love any insight!
I took a a typography class in college and it was one of my favorites. Enjoy!

More power to you girl 🙌
Thank uuuu!! 🥹🥹
congrats for 十万! It's also a goal of mine to hit that number while I take back my creativity from the depths of my mind. To our 30s!
"The big six digits! Not sure why I laughed so hard at that! 🙂

Omg what’s the green thingy you put your tea bag in ????? That makes so much sense
it's a special tea cup!! i linked it in the description
Yayyy excited for you chloe ❤

you kno what you're right 😂😂 sometimes i don't even know if i can find the link.
let me know find that for ya haha
aitte I found it - it's linked in the description now haha!!
@@chloeshihthank you. I just ordered one. 😊
Which design school you started? I also wanted to get into design
I love your clear glasses at 2.58. Where did you get it from?
Also looking for design schools! What’s your program/where? Love ur story ♥️
i'm taking class at art center!! it was recommended by my previous VP of Product!
Can't wait for the wedding video now 🥺🫶
Cool video as always!
Thank u augy 🫶🫶🫶
you look like a goddess!
What design school are you enrolled in? Is it a course online I could check out?
Where are you taking design classes???

😂 I’m doing it at 38. If you look around most people change their career at some point.
