  • Romancing SaGa 3 is one of the most beloved games in the SaGa series and a seminal game in the Romancing SaGa trilogy that inspired the creation of games like Alliance Alive and Legend of Legacy. The Romancing SaGa games have even received stage plays in Japan.
In this video I play through the entire game and explain as much as I can about everything that makes Romancing SaGa 3 tick. I explain its progression systems, playable characters, character strengthening, commander mode, multimagic, formation techs, sparking system, crowns, magic, numerous sidequests, the business minigame, mechanics behind challenging boss fights, fun "features," and more!

I'm so pissed it took me so long to find your channel, this is stellar! Would love to see you cover other JRPGs in this way beyond this and 7th Saga!

I absolutely love everything SaGa, so I'm happy to see such an in-depth video covering one of my favorite entries in the series. Also, I share the opinion that Minstrel Song is the series' magnum opus overall - it is still THE game that I point to first when trying to find a shining example of what a remake SHOULD be. It takes everything from the original Romancing SaGa, omits nothing, and adds so much more content while still feeling organic. Now I'm just waiting patiently for Emerald Beyond....

love this video! hope you do more of long form content exactly like this! playthrough the story with mechanics explained in between. editing is fantastic, and the writing is detailed and direct.

Your Let's Play of this game and explanation of its mechanics gave me the confidence to play through it myself. Now I've finished SaGa 1-3 and Romancing SaGa 1-3. Scarlet Grace is next on the list. Thank you for covering the more niche JRPGs :]

SaGa is so great for the people it appeals to.

I hope you enjoy Scarlet Grace! It can get rough, but it's some of the best non-strategic strategy combat I can think of!

@@SDREHXC For sure. I 100% understand why SaGa games have mixed reviews. But man, if these games jive with you they can be super entertaining.

Glad to hear it! I hope you're enjoying SaGa Scarlet Grace. I played through that one only once, but it was a very thorough and very fun playthrough for me. I'll definitely be playing SaGa Emerald Beyond in April too.

@@SpaceLanceFTWThe combat is so addictive. Nothing beats galaxy-braining your enemy into initiating an interrupt or counter which you then interrupt, then focus fire on them, initiating a United Attack, leading to another United Attack, and then to victory. It might be the best combat system in a turn-based JRPG...

Wonderful video! As tedious as it can be to check guides (and avoid spoilers), I love all the little wrinkles added to SaGa games that you can discover on your own terms whenever you hit a roadbump! Aside from novel mechanics, the series really shines from its conviction to have its ideas mesh and be fulfilling on a basic level!

Thanks! Yeah, SaGa games like Romancing SaGa Minstrel's Song and Romancing SaGa 2 and 3 are games I always do a preplay research session into first before I even start a playthrough. I know what my party progression, magic spells, weapon setups, and formation strategies will be before I even start playing the game. And everytime I play the games again it's always different and it always feels a little biut like a different game for me. Never fails.

Excellent video covering some of the intricacies and nuances of Romancing SaGa 3! Despite it being one of the most beloved entries, I walked away from my first playthrough of RS3 ranking it as one of my least favorite entries in the series, second only to UNLIMITED, due to some of its quirks and inconsistencies making encounters needlessly frustrating. That said, I also knew that this would be a game I would eventually come back to and maybe find some greater appreciation for, and this video is definitely going to be one of my cornerstones of inspiration for when I do get back to it!
