Hey Coach. I just recently found this channel and you have fantastic content. I am going to a D1 college next year to be a RB/SB and have been lifting weights since 9th grade but only recently started focusing on football oriented exercises such as back squat, bench, and clean. I am 5'9" 190lbs and can bench roughly 285, squat 415, and hang clean 225. I am pretty stocky so I have the ability to gain weight and muscle pretty fast. I have added close to 50lbs on my bench and squat in the past month, not to mention I have never cleaned before recently. I believe that I could be benching in the low 300s, squating mid 400s for reps, be cleaning mid 200s and weighing 195-200lbs by the time I arrive at college, but my father is worried I am bulking too fast. I disagree because I am gaining muscle weight not fat and am constantly doing speed/agility work so I am getting faster as well. Do you have any thoughts on this? Should I continue to gain weight and muscle at this rate or focus more on speed and explosiveness right now? If you took to the time to read this, thank you so much!!

I would say you can still focus on both. Jan in this video will play for the Titans and he has improved his jumping ability and speed while gaining over to 20 lbs in 5 months. You just need to choose the right foods and focus on the right exercises. I would consider checking out his diet video so you have an idea of how he did it and check out other videos on strength training for football so you have an idea on what to do to get faster and add strength.
