Oddly your Hawaii series made me quite sad. I always assumed Hawaii was full of all this native Hawaiian culture. However, to see the erasure if native language, religion, culture and indigenous peoples broke my heart. Hawaiian surely have gone through a lot with colonialism but I didn’t know it was this devastating
well, they have this: open.spotify.com/user/damonandjo?si=uX6bjuN6TLSiuHJWfYy04g which is the 'damon and jo' spotify. not their individual ones but it's something if you didn't already know
i love how often you guys been posting together! I know you guys are growing up and arent as able to be at the same place at the same time. I love you guys
I'm sorry for such a rubbish recommendation with the green sand beach. I swear it was green when I last went there 6 years ago! Sad to see your BI series coming to an end but loved every second of it ❤
Probably the most authentic Hawai’i travel series I’ve seen on TH-cam. Best travel tip if you’re planning to go there, go with someone who’s from Hawai’i! The locals are hesitant to broadcast the “best” places on the island, in fear of the nature being damaged by an influx of tourists (I grew up in Hilo and Kona and lived in Honolulu so I can attest to this)
when the tide isnt so high you can climb down by the water and the sand down there is greenish. There are small bits of green sea glass mixed in the sand that give it its color. It is kinda worth it to just chill down there.
I loooove the way you guys travel. Can relate so strongly. I always feel like a cultural detective whilst travelling, trying to analyze what I experience and relate it to previous observations. Thanks for being such educational & culturally sensitive travellers!!
OMG, THE DRUMS, that was my favourite part of the whole series. Congrats, guys. That must've been a great experience. I hope you enjoyed it. I would like to see you guys traveling somewhere in Asia, btw. Keep shut up and going!
Good vlog once more. Life style, life style, life style! Love seeing you guys driving in the wind, your hair and the music flying up to the blue sky...very dreaming.
I have friends who live in Hawaii and have known people to go vacation there for years but this is the first like REAL information I've gotten about what it's actually like.
i loved these hawaii vids so much. the vibrant color saturation (yea i peeped dat), the music moments in that convertible!, y'all trying your best to articulate the weird energy of hawaii lol, damon in those clear frame GLASSES OKAY, jo and her lil jokes
Thank you so much for this Hawaii content. My parents were saying the same things they noticed about the state and i was over thinking their just being negative but I’m realizing how other content makers aren’t so real about where they are... so thank you guys for being real about your travels and sharing the honest truth
I went a year before it erupted and one of my most memorable experience was seeing active lava. We got a recommendation from our waitress at a restaurant, to go on an 4 mile bike ride (one way) through the lava fields, to get to the lava flowing into the ocean, creating new land. We had to rent bikes from a sketch dude who used headlamps as the headlight, we bikes on the hilly lava field and arrived st the lava flow at sunset. ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL THINGS I HAVE SEEN IN MY LIFE. Then we had to bike four miles back in pitch black night, with just the stars and our tiny dying headlamp. I tried to get ahead of my family bc I am competitive and ended up falling because I had to swerve because of a running dog. I had to walk my bike half of the way! When I got to the end my dad and sister were already there and my mom was like 5 minutes behind and thought we had abandoned her. Anyway, one of my fave travel stories and am so sad I can never do it again. That is the beauty and grief of an ever growing island. Everyone experiences it different, for better or for worse.
Oh my gosh seeing you guys hit all the spots I went to last year on the Big Island - including the freaking Flyin' Hawaii Coffee food truck (which we also stopped at since we were desperate for some *real* coffee) - is kinda freaking me out and more than a little surreal. Have seriously loved this entire series xx
Hi! So at 10:42 when you are complaining there isn't green sand, the place way below, where the water meets the sand, is where it's green. You have to hike down a steep hill in order to reach it. It's totally worth it though! I'm sorry that you didn't get to see it, especially after you hiked all that way (believe me, I've hiked it and it's rough). It's a really small beach but the sand is almost a jade color. I hope you can go there again sometime because it's such a great experience to have.
they just gave us a five part series thinking we're gonna stop asking them to post more content of them together but little did they know WE STILL NEED MORE VIDEOS OF YOU TWO TOGETHER
i was there last summer while it was erupting and couldn't see the lava but saw lava glow. i took a pic of that green church haha did you go to the bakery in punalu'u? also lol my family paid the $20 and it was like a 30 min drive there and back lol the sand is olivine
The potato’s were sweet because it’s a purple sweet potato! Haha Hawaiians make AMAZING bread called taro bread or (poi bread) made from it. It’s so so yummy
hey guys does anyone know how big the big island is? if anyone could compare the size of the big island to the size of one of the contiguous 48 states, that would be great. i watched all of these videos but i still am not sure how big the big island is. seems like a glaring oversight to me. thank you.
I'd love to visit here now that I'm back in the states. I definitely want to do some research for native owned companies that I can spend my money at while there. I came into this video series a bit late so I'm looking forward to bingeing the whole series. That garbage story is so sad also.
@@Offensive_Username that's so true lol i was saying it because i see a lot of travel vloggers or youtubers that get their own tv show, and i feel like damon and jo's content is sooo good: the filming, the editing, everything; so i think that they deserve a lot more recognition than they get
Fun time in Kauai earlier this year - I'm deathly allergic to tree nuts. Went to Waimea town celebration & got some Kauai coffee (just ordered iced coffee). My dum dum ass didn't think to make sure the iced coffee was nut free...went into anaphylactic shock because there was some variation of macadamia nut milk/creamer in it. Had to go to the ER, could have died, but it's a great story and made the other moments of my trip even more beautiful & enjoyable. Thanks for inspiring me to shut up and go even though ya girl kinda scared 😹
So tell us: did you enjoy the Hawai'i series? 🌴
UH DUH LOL!!!
LOVED IT!
LOVED IT!!
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!! BETTER THAN ANY TV SHOWW
Car songs montage was the best!!!

I am glad you showed your true feelings about the big island. You don't have to like every place you go.
It’s not Even summer yet but this Hawaii series made me feel more like it’s summer than *actual summer* will
Omg I see you everywhere lol
The purple potato is actually naturally that colour and naturally sweet! Not necessarily sugar added!!
You're making me get used to all these frequent uploads.....

The “green” sand was kind of... sort of... a musty, moldy green... and brown mix.

I think they just went at the wrong time. Green Sands should be an all day thing. Nevertheless, it's still beautiful!
KATIE WE COULDN'T HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT YOU!
That's OK, Katie, you still the MVP
also if anyone wants to know, the smooth song damon starts playing at 3:12 is "about you" by xxyyxx (an incredible album honestly)
@snowy810 yea sza sampled xxyyxx, so only damon can tell us which song it was :)
Hearing you play the Drums in the car made you my favourite TH-camrs from now on.
yall are vibes i always wanted a friendship like this just having a good ol time and traveling
The quotations around green in the title make a whole lotta sense now. 🤣
