Katy Out n About thank you for mentioning this! Many people think fast fashion is just Forever 21 and other super cheap clothes stores, but that’s not the case. Many high fashion brands actually burn or tear the clothes that don’t sell instead of discounting it to keep the “luxury” ideal of the brand. Fast Fashion SUCKS. Thrifting is life! ♥️

@@JillianClairPrice The problem is the French don't really like to wear used clothing... they are so concerned with their appearance, especially those living in Paris, the most fashionable city in the world. They will tolerate high-end vintage though.
FREE’P’STAR has fairly low prices. They even have a €1 bin stuffed with a bunch clothes
Guerrisol, emmaüs and freep star are really cheap, affordable thrift stores ! My sister paid a schott coat for only 10 euros at guerrisol
as a girl born and raised (and still living) in Paris, who only wears second hand I truly recommend guerrisol and Emmaus !!! agreed it's more time consuming cause the clothes aren't curated at all, they literally put on the racks whatever people bring, so you gotta spend some time searching through the billions of (mostly ugly) clothes
BUT they do have some gems !!!
it's especially good to go there if you're looking for a specific item, cause they sort the clothes by type and color, so say if you want a leopard skirt you'll immediately notice if they have one or not
in the end I find it super rewarding when you find something really good since usually they do the same prices for all types of clothes (so like all the pants are 7€, all the skirts 5€ etc) so it's reaaaaally cheap
never bought anything over 20€ in an Emmaüs store, and it's 80% of the time below 10€.
my favs are the Barbès, Goncourt and Chatelet emmaüs stores
(also !! every euro you spend there goes to charity)

I can tell you that these boutiques got high prices but the quality is way more good. I went to kiliwatch and bought a rain jacket for 60€ instead of 200€. So even if it still expensive, this is notttt.

Boutique Solidaire near Filles du Calvaire is also a great one, cheap and organized by color which is pretty fun. I find that Hippy Market and Episode have become less and less accessible throughout the years, now making their own pieces and losing some of that thrifty sensibility. My absolute favorite is Coiffeur in Le Marais. It's cheap and unique, and even though it's tiny I always find something great. I went to BIS and Coiffeur a month ago and came out with five items (including an outfit for my cousin's wedding) for only 28 euros.
I love coiffeur!! found an amazong 20s beaded dress for like 20 euros years ago. unfortunately didn't get the chance to go there again when I was last in Paris.

Pour les fripes parisiennes où on peut trouver des articles cools pour vraiment pas chers, il y a les Free'P'Star, Adom, Ding Fring, La Friperie Solidaire, Bis Boutique Solidaire, The king of frip, Guerrisol, Emmaus et Oh Lumière ! À savoir qu'on fait la différence entre une friperie et une magasin vintage, le vintage aura des prix bien plus élevés car ce sont très souvent des marques et c'est trié et curaté alors que dans un fripes on trouve de tout mais c'est beaucoup moins curaté, c-à-d que tant que le vêtement est en bonne état il peut être vendu ! Petit astuce aussi, chez Free'P'Star, il y a des bacs avec des vêtements à 1€, il faut vraiment fouiller dans les bacs mais je me chopé toujours des trucs de ouf et trop bien ! Sinon, dans ces fripes on trouves des jeans vintage levi's/wrangler qui vont pas plus que 30€. Voilà, voilà j'espère que ça peut aider ! 😊
For the anglophones, I just listed the thrift shops in Paris you can shop at without breaking too much of the bank! Here we do differenciate a thrift shop to a vintage store: the vintage store will consist of mostly designers /unique pieces that are curated reason why the price point is higher, whereas a thrift shop can cater anything, is not really curated, if the cloth is in a good state it's saleable. Was also saying that in Free'P'Star, there are huge boxes with 1€ clothes, you really have to dig and search thru but it's worth it since you can find really cool pieces for cheap! Also in the thrift shops you buy your vintage levi's/wrangler for max 30€, knowing they're usually sold at 15-20€ and last for years 😊✌🏾
You should definitely go to thrift stores in Portugal, there is one called "humana" where you can find everything for 5 euros!

I love Episode! I found the most amazing vintage Adidas sweatshirt that's a subtle tie dye with sewn on stripes and cool graphics. I also found a lot of cool thrift stores near Centre Pompidou and around Montmartre. Once in Le Marais they also had this big vintage warehouse thing with a bunch of different vendors and I found the most amazing Levi's jean jacket.

i stumbled across oh lumière in the 11th while in paris on vacation last month, and absolutely loved it. the owner is a phenomenal man, and if you’re buying multiple pieces, he was up to bargaining/rounding down the total (although, for paris prices, i’d say this was already more comparable to what north americans would think of as “thrift store” prices) !

I know! I loved the skins reference because I loved the show. My favorite seasons were the first 4 and then the very last movie like longer episodes with Effy and Casey in them. I haven't watched the American version, but I love rewatching the British one over and over. It brings me back to the days when I was that age. Lol I mean doing a little less crazy things but very similar.

Yeah, the proper term would've been vintage. But still entertaining!
in the area around metro pigalle there are a lot of cheap thrift shops, in le Marais there are about 6 on the same street. The prices are more down to earth. I think that guerrisol has the best prices, although you have to put in some effort to find something you like. Some vintage stores like Mamie Blue, By flowers and chinemachine aren't at all affordable (for me at least)
That's France for you 🤷 Thrift shops arent a big thing and are either super ugly or super expensive
Go to rue de la verrerie in Le Marais, you'll find Free'p'star . It's really affordable and they have 2 different stores (the bigger one has more interesting items imo). In the 18eme arrondissement, you can find a bunch of Guerrisol stores on the same street that are really really cheap (my sister got a 10€ schott coat there).

Good video! As another former student in Paris, I recommend Kiloshops, there are around Le Marais I believe, and Saint Michel 💚👌 you can buy second-hand clothes with prizes based on their weight and some categories

Love this! Last year in Paris I went to one of the Kilo Shops! They had a huge pile of denim and I randomly grabbed my dream jacket, it's a German brand and I paid like 40 euro, but it's fine cause I wear it every day and it's my fav souvenir!

Guerrisol is my favorite thrift shop, it’s kind of dirty but you want find very cheap clothes with good quality. Those shops in the video are quite expensive for second hand clothes.

my favourite thrift store is free'p'star, rue du renard! it's more affordable for a broke-ass student like me and they have a good selection too (better than kilo shop imo). I found a pair of overalls for 20 euros 2 years ago and it's still doing very well.

try getting out to Normandie, the Emmaus' out here are fucking amazing- in my opinion waaaay better than the chains in Paris: great selection and very very cheap. Rouen would be your best bet, but there's also heaps in different areas like Pont Audemer. Rouen tends to be quite a wealthy area, so there's a lot of designer shit that is sent there, including Hermes and Dior scarves, which you can get lucky with if you get in the door just as it opens.

I love Malaika! And love that she made a reference about Skins. I've watched it for years and always re-watch episodes on Netflix, which is awesome they have it up there. And Damon did look like someone from the show. Lol very late 90's early 2000's British style. My favorite seasons are the first 4, and then the last episodes, with Effy and Casey, years after their seasons take place. Very cool. I loved the thrifting video and wish we had more thrifting stores where I live, Hawaii. We only have goodwill and the salvation army. It's a hit or miss. But I've still found really good pieces from them, like Burberry, Dior, etc. Just have to look at the bigger locations or in the better neighborhoods. There's also some boutiques that have vintage items, but super pricey and could find the same item at an actual thrift store if youre lucky🙃
