if you wanted to see extreme hawaiian lifestyle, kaua’i is the place to go. It’s very small and tropical, and everyone knows eachother.
Yes I went to Kauai this January and definitely recommend, people ride in the back of their trucks, drive onto the beach, and there are chickens literally everywhere (on the streets, in the shopping centers, and by the beach).
Also they have some spectacular hikes that go into the valley and amazing waterfalls to swim in. (Secret falls is my favorite, but you have to kayak and hike through mud and river).
i have family living in kaua’i and it’s my favorite place to visit! so so so beautiful and i can’t wait to go back
those lil cheek kisses whenever they first greeted each other was so cute 🥰 y’all are the best friends ever and so funny together

Great video. It’s kinda sad how many chain stores there are in Hawaii. It would be nice if native Hawaiians owned more businesses.
Nah there’s plenty of local businesses they just kept going to the tourist areas where all the chain stores are.
Miss Jalapeno I’ve lived there, so I’m pretty well acquainted to the area. As a Hawaiian person myself, it is indeed very sad.
Go to Kauai, it gives the most “island” feel of all the other islands. Super tropical tons of jungle and less city.

I mean it's not like the main land part wasn't taken from their natives as well, and in a more cruel way than a coup, so I don't know what you mean by "colonization doesn't make something American" cause it was colonization for the other states as well

When I visited Hawaii I was on the island of Oahu, staying with a friend of a friend. I was expecting it to have that cheesy destination "Florida" vibe but it was the complete opposite. They lived in the most beautiful, lush area, pretty much on the opposite side from Honolulu, and it was a totally different experience from what I'm seeing here! Way less built up, felt much more authentic and many more native Hawaiians and local businesses. So much delicious and diverse Asian and Polynesian cuisine 😍 Plus endless beautiful nature and so many different environments on one island!! I would definitely recommend staying with a local next time you visit one of the islands. Most magical time of my life.💕

I’m going over to France to stay with some exchange student friends from years past and I’m sooo excited to get better at French and travel but I’m so scared I’m not going to get the most of the experience and I’m afraid to go alone :( hopefully I’ll be able to pull a Damon and Jo and make new friends and explore cool new areas and become 100% less anxious :) love you guys💛💛

I went to Kona first time ever a year ago and had such fun. As we go to Asia a lot, it did feel weird that everyone spoke English, but I liked the fact that it was def. different than mainland. Met some glorious people while I was there and had some fun misadventures. Would return anytime. Enjoy it, kids!

Guys you should go to Hilo. Kona is the more populated side and Hilo is more about the forests and ocean coves. Hilo has more local food and stuff but Kona is also amazing

why do i love watching Damon drive
I was in Kona last September for my birthday (visiting my sister) so seeing y'all at some of the places I visited (*cough* the airport 😂) made me so happy. Right after I got my rental car (also a droptop), I randomly decided to drive around the entire island. It took 6 hours and was probably the highlight of my trip.
I want to live like you guys when I get older you are absolutely living my dream life ❤️

Haha did the same on a very warm summer day in Phoenix, AZ. Put the top down and hit the freeway at like 110°F, quicky found out the A/C was USELESS with the top down 😆 We got ROASTED and luckily ran into a traffic jam so we could put the top up 😳

That was my first reaction too when I got there like what? We’re stoping at Walmart on our way to the beach?...okay?? In my opinion the street vendors and outdoor market are where the fun is at.
