    Thank you for explaining how to get to the Prius PIDs. I have wondered every time I see someone else's Torque demonstration showing all the block voltages on one screen. These other folks rarely discuss how they got that display.

    Does anyone know what PID is for the inverter coolant temperature? I think that's a very important one.

  • @patrickkeefe8231

    I just set up the custom PID's for the battery voltage in Torque Pro. .I am running this off a dated but new Moto G. I think there are some resistance values for the modules I should also add. This video is pretty straightforward, thanks!
    BTW, Torque Pro is only for Android. I use OBD Fusion on my iPhone SE.

    Your video was easy to follow and well done I was able to load all 14 of the blocks on my screen grid the only problem I had was I could not find a place to save the configuration. Every time I close the app and reopen it and go back to real time mode all of the 14 PID s are gone how do I keep them on the screen ? Do I need to select my “ Add custom PID “ rather then “ Add predefined set “ before I enter them ? I have you assume it should not require having to add all 14 PID s every time I want to use this program.
    Any help will be appreciated
    Thank You

      I notice your post is only about 6 days ago most of the post on here are a year so I decided to ask you my question I would appreciate if you can help below is my Dilemma
      Thank You in advance
      “ Liked your video I just have one question ? I have a Prius 2008 second generation I have the ELM 327 mini interface installed in ODB 2 port. I’m using an RCA Android tablet with Torque Pro installed and working. Everything seems to be working ok except when I try and load the 14 extra PIDs voltage blocks, under manage custom pids and “ add predefined PID “ I can add them to the grid but they won’t stay when I close the program they are gone ? Is their a trick to getting them to lock on, it shouldn’t be necessary to have to reload them every time I want to use a Torque Pro is their a save button some where in Torque Pro to save the update screen ?
      The only thing that I noticed was a feature were I can load “ add custom PID “ rather then “ add from a predefined PID “ ? the problem is when I invoke the “ add custom PIF “ it warms me that I could damage something “ so I backed out of that.
      If anyone has any information on this problem I would appreciate any input.
      Thank You “

    Hi, Great video, thanks. I have a question. I followed your procedure but the HV battery icon are not green so obviously don't work. I'm thinking it's due to the vehicle profile, like you I have a 2nd generation Prius but there's no option for hybrid only petrol, diesel etc. Should this have been left blank? Please can you advise.
    Thanks

      Yes, you need an OBD2 to bluetooth adapter. There are cheap ones on ebay - about 5ish dollars or so, I never had much luck getting those to work.
      The one I suggest is the BAFX adapter on amazon. Worked great for me first try

    I installed torquepro, i plugged in my obd bluetooth scanner and connected via Bluetooth to my android phone. The app shows as connected and also shows connected to the ECU. I then followed your instructions to add the 14 battery voltage PIDs. BUT the half meters with digital reading show no readings, no real time voltage, no min and no max. What do i need to do to get it to read. (P.S. the preloaded coolant tempersture shows a real reading of 167 degrees, so I am thinking the obdII is sending out sensor data.)

      In theory they all should work but some people have reported that they can't read voltages with certain OBD2 adapters. I personally use the BAFX adapter that you can get off amazon. Cost me about 25-ish bucks but it's worked great on my prius and on any other vehicle I've tried it on.

    Does the OBD through torque automatically recognize when you put the battery dials on? I put the battery dials on for my prius 2nd gen but nothing seems to be happening. I have an OBD II from eBay it's called (OBD Advanced) it seems to be working except for the batteries. I'm not sure if maybe I did something wrong. Or is there a specific OBD reader I need to get.

    • @CtrlAltDefeatTV
      @CtrlAltDefeatTV  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      On the main screen of the TorquePro app, there's some icons in the top left corner. You want to see the icon that looks like a bluetooth adapter lit up solid and you want to see the icon that looks like a car lit up solid as well. That means that your phone successfully connected to the adapter, and through the adapter it's successfully talking to the car.
      Some cheaper OBD2 adapters have trouble either connecting, or talking to the car. I've always suggested getting a BAFX adapter on amazon. I got mine for about 22 bucks and it's worked flawlessly in any car that I plug it into.

    Thanks for the clear instructions for installing the Pids to the Torque Pro app! When I checked my son's Prius battery I noticed that all the block voltages were in the 15.3 range but one. Block 10 on his battery had a needle indication that would go to 14.5 then drop to 0 then back to 14.5. Have you ever experienced something like that with the Torque app? It just flickered back and forth. He broke down on the freeway last week and we haven't figured out what the issue is yet. I checked the individual voltages on each cell with a VOM and I noticed that they all were in the 7.46-7.48 range except there were three that tested 7.34-7.35, no flickering voltages. His Prius is a 2006 with less than 130,000. Are you able to access the trouble codes with the Torque app? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    • @HankHill1
      @HankHill1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is old but for anyone reading, yes absolutely you can check a numerous amount of information about your trouble codes and such. If you run into a situation where your prius dies look at your 12v under the hood battery first, then check your internal battery packs with this app (each block should add up to 14+) , then finally and most likely after all else fails will be your Inverter (buy on eBay).

    What Volt do they need to be add. How do we know if the battery is bad or good?

    • @CtrlAltDefeatTV
      @CtrlAltDefeatTV  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It really depends on what's currently happening in your Prius. If you're coasting and the battery is recharging, the modules will have a higher voltage than if you're sitting in neutral with the AC going full blast.
      Typically each module should test at about 7.5v with two (2) modules per block. So your voltages displayed in TorquePro should be approximately 15ish volts on average.
      But really the main thing is that all your modules/blocks have the same voltage, they all need to be balanced. As long as they're lower or higher in voltage TOGETHER, you should be ok. The check engine light pops up when the ECU detects a difference in those voltages.

      It's an android only app. If you look up "Torque Pro" in the android app store it's the first or second option that comes up. It's Torque Pro by Ian Hawkins

    on torque pro it shows the aux battery as -24v and "charg ctrl -24kW" and "delta SOC: 0.0 "and another interesting line is "battery block number with max voltage: latest value =1 (bounces between 1 and 17) and "battery block number min voltage :latest value= 10 (steady)" and im getting common error code p0a80, it is it 12v battery ?

    • @bryanwood9285
      @bryanwood9285 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes. Block 10 is your lowest voltage. The block with the lowest voltage should bounce around. Because yours is staying on 10, you have a problem with block 10 of your battery.

      ELM327's seem to work on a 2.gen. Mine's a Vgate iCar iV350 Mini. Seems they have a wifi model now too that creates a wifi AP that you connect to. Vgate iCar 2.

    How did you save your custom dashboard. I spent an hour putting PIDs on it and then used it on the car but it did not save it and all of it was lost when I clicked back to the main menu of Torque. I can't believe that it didn't save it or give a warning and a button to save it with.

      I solved the problem. I'm using a Samsung phone and you go to "Settings" then "Apps" and then to "Torque" and set the permission so that it can access memory.
