  • Hyacinths are the most beautiful spring flowers. They smell amazing and come in a range of colours. Blooming for me outside in the garden in April here in zone 8b in Scotland. You can force them for earlier flowers indoors over the winter too really easily. In this video I show you how I grow them in the garden, how I grow them in the greenhouse and how I force them in pots for earlier flowers during the winter months.

I was unable to obtain hyacinth bulbs for indoor forcing until the end of October here in the west of Ireland. I hope to have them bloom at least early next year but would have liked some for Christmas. I shall be following your videos with interest. I have Nigella seeds growing ready for spring. 😊

Hi and thanks for the information. I want to plant these bulbs in pots so that they will flower in Jan/Feb.

Interesting :-) I live in a temperate Southern Hemisphere climate and forcing bulbs isn’t as common here (probably because it doesn’t align with a holiday period), and so ‘treated’ bulbs aren’t available. Is there anything that we would need to do to be successful with this? Eg. storing them in the fridge before planting?
