    For actual faded and old trim , Solution Finish has worked best for me. The re-dyeing properties help a lot in actually restoring dead old trim, and it can easily be protected with whatever protection gets put on the car.

    Cera trim is so hard to buff off the glass and paint in my experience. It smears so bad but it does give good results and that bottle will last forever it feels like. I loved how easy to lithium trim cubes were to apply and remove excess as well.

    As you mentioned, different plastics will react differently. Gen1 Chevy Avalanche’s have a large amount and variety of plastics if you’re looking for a good test vehicle. That being said - CarWorx Refinish Restorer works particularly well on that textured plastics.

      @ric21122 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      What about using a combo? He showed that Solution Finish didn’t really have repelling properties. Just a really good dye product. What if you take cerakote and apply it after the Solution Finish. Would that make a difference on the outcome? I ask because I do really like SF so wondering if it could be supercharged with a cerakote topping. What do you think?

    Complete different question! Your polisher rack behind you- who makes that? Maxshine maybe? Hate mine. Thx for the video. Interesting results. The cube is interesting to say the least. I use ceratrim then top with exo4 and it kicks it up in longevity btw. Use cerakote if customer wants extra gloss. Thx!!!

    Unfortunately I believe you're comparing apples to oranges, my shop has used solution finish because it covers much better and I have to correct you, it is not a die or an ink and it is clearly stated in their advertisement, solution finish is a carbon based product. I am an owner of a restoration shop finale 37 years and have found the best way to restore trim is of course to clean it really good and if it's in really bad shape use magic eraser with a light chemical and hot water, apply your solution finish and if needed wait 4 hours and apply a second coat then wait 24 hours and put G-TECHNIQ EXO V4 and apply to coats and I can guarantee you that no matter how bad your trim is on the vehicle you will get 18 months to two solid years with absolutely no fading whatsoever. That is the proper way to use finished solution. But thanks for the video man very informative

    • @marcellemay7721
      @marcellemay7721 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree. Solution finish is a trim restorer but not really a protectant. It should be topped off, once cured with a ceramic trim protectant. That's the one two punch for looks and protection. If the car is new, just go straight to a protectant.

    Seems like solution finish is more of a dye. Would it work to do solution finish to restore color and then do a cerakote type over it to add the water repealing protection? Seems like a combo of the two might really push the results to new levels. What are your thoughts?

    • @smokymountainconcealment5356
      @smokymountainconcealment5356 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes from what I’ve seen and read it’s a dye not a lot of protection. Let cure 24 hrs then apply dlux which will last a few years from what I’m hearing. That’s the combo I’m going to try next to see the results.

    • @marambula
      @marambula 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      your experience is consistent with the longevity tests on TH-cam. Cerakote and Wipe new consistently last longer than a year and a lesser known brand Malco (Epic revive nu) also crushes the tests. 1 month just isn't enough time to pick a "winner" but it does weed out the worst products.

      @@marambula so what do you think about the lithium? I have a new car and want to protect the plastics to prevent the fading so I don’t really need a full restoration leaning towards lithium or creakote

    • @marambula
      @marambula 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@takeovaLA I haven't personally used the lithium, but check out Scott HD channel on TH-cam, he has tested 30-40 of these plastic trim products long term (>12 months). only a handful last a year or more and like 80-90% of them fail within 3 months while half of them fail after only a month or so. Scott has done restoration trim testing and ceramic trim coating testing (22 way test). The lithium lasted about 60 days if I recall. If I remember correctly the poorboys brand did excellent in that particular test but is hard to find. Mostly the market is full of bad trim products and only a long term 8+month test really shows which ones stand out as the best and they are few and far between. Cerakote over lithium no contest based on ceramic trim coatings longevity tests...but there are other options and some people don't like the glossiness of cerakote.
