I love my Spyderco Civilian! I'm not gonna lie though, I do carry my Spyderco Matriarch 2 with Emerson Wave more because of the Wave feature it has. Spyderco makes the best Wave feature iv used, I own Emerson's, Cold Steels, and CRKT's with pocket opening features and still love Spyderco's Wave feature the best.
The matriarch 2 is a little more practical. It’s smaller but still fairly lengthy and your hand will not take up the whole handle. It also comes with a wave option. The curve at closest to the tip is shorter, wider, and this stronger. You can add your own signet ring too.
this is my fav. spyderco, I love it. i have one that is like the one in the video. and i have a plane blade. which are harder to find. it is my current edc. along with a glock 19
This knife is so badass. Every other self defense knife pales in comparison. The only other thing that you can carry with you that is more effective for self defense is a gun.

I had that one and the aluminum with rubber inserts, and they both opened mail just fine.
I believe that it is lined on only that side for the pcket clip screws to thread into and not on the other simply to save weight

It actually is very similar to the Emerson CQC-9 designed for the DEA...though I'm not certain which came first.
I got mine this week, its quite mad but I love it.
