    Thanks for posting this video. It really isn't that bad of a job. Bikes with this much plastics and fairing seem daunting until you can see someone take it apart. I really appreciate it.

    How many miles did you actually have on the bike? Just curious because the filter looked moderately dirty, but not terrible. Wondering how long it can be pushed since it is a bit of a chore and Honda does recommend a very long interval of 12k miles.

  • @ozitmanager
    @ozitmanager 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I found that adding some vaseline to the grommet tabs helped a lot the next time i removed the fairing. The first time you remove them it feels like you are going to break it, just keep pressure on try to get your fingers behind it. And go slow.

    Thanks, I just bought an AT and didn't even know where the filters were, do you oil the filter?

    • @Thompsout
      @Thompsout 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It depends on the filter you plan on using. The OEM filter doesn't require oil while something like a K&N would. Read the instructions in your owners manual or on the replacement filter you plan on using.

    Can this be done without removing the Honda light/crash bars ?
    Also since required some work to get to the filters it would be nice to have a air filter restriction gauge, similar to what's on my diesel truck. When I have do the filters on my 22 AT I'm going put a fitting on the back side of the air box

    • @NoWay-xu1ie
      @NoWay-xu1ie ปีที่แล้ว

      Continued, to monitor the air restriction.

    I keep hearing people complain about the airfilter being "at a stupid location" so I had to check it out. THIS is what they're complaining about?! few screws and clips, fairing off and it's right there with few more screws! such an easy 5 minute job.

    Os engenheiros que projectam estas motos deviam ter vergonha , desmontar tanto plástico para trocar um simples filtro de ar ...e depois repetir o processo do outro lado . Claro que isto para eles é uma vantagem , pois quando fores a um concessionário Honda para trocar o filtro de ar , só em mão de obra já pagas um dinheirão

    No way I'm doing that ever 10000 miles. I might do it at 20,000. Then again I would just run the bike till I notice a power loss due to low intake pressure. Come on Honda, make a bike which takes 5 minutes to change an air filter.

    • @2wheelnut
      @2wheelnut 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm getting power loss @ 18k miles commuting including rain. 2 years isnt too bad. I would wait again the next time.

    I should have kept my super tenere

    • @iceman_75
      @iceman_75 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just curious, What is it that you like better about the Super Tenere?
      I traded a 2012 Super Tenere in on my Africa Twin Adventure Sport and don’t regret it. The Super Tenere was a great bike and I never had an issue with it. However, the AT motor is so much smother and has better low end torque. The ST was probably faster on top end but I don’t usually run that fast.
      I don’t think you can go wrong with either bike as they both are excellent machines for the price. I will say the only thing I have noticed on my ATAS is the cross winds really effect it on a windy day if you are on the highway. Cheers!

    • @philiplang9921
      @philiplang9921 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are correct. You guys with crash bars: you do not have to remove that center plastic panel. Just remove the ONE plastic rivet that holds on the faring you are trying to remove. 4 plastic rivets total per side. You can carefully remove the faring with he crash bars still in place. I just did it. Both sides total 30 minute job.

  • @antonsteyn1380
    @antonsteyn1380 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Terrible design by Honda. There are worse, but I expected better from Honda. I broke one fairing tab right under the headlight, cos it doesn't come straight out like the others, but rather has to go a little sideways first. Total PITA when it does not need to be.
    Nice video though. Thanks.
