Albe thank you so much for making this video, I just started looking into how to change my air filters and this popped up as soon as I opened TH-cam. Fantastic instructions!
Nice vid. I tried this once just for fun while I had the plastics off installing lights, and it was hard enough to get the filter housing apart I gave up and juat put the screws back in.
At 4:10 and 5:09. Seems a redesign would simplify filter changes. Redesign cover at 4:10 to have a swing up lid. So when black top trim would be removed, rider could lift the lid, take a fish hook remover and grab filter, pull straight up, insert one straight down, close lid, reattach trim and done. This way filter screws at 5:10 would not be needed. Seems Honda could make a retro kit by modifying the filter cover to open at the top to lift and drop filters in place….VERY useful on dusty trail rides for a fast check too. Thoughts??
I agree, there are a few other designs that would have made it easier to do, but I guess Honda took inspiration from Ducati and made it needlessly complicated 🤣
Hello. Very good video and helpful. But I have Africa Twin Adventure Sport 2018 and also with a HEED crash bunker. What do you think or maybe know for sure whether it is possible to replace the air filter without removing the hopper on this model. I looked that the distance seems to allow. I want to try, but I'm afraid because not a mechanic but a doctor 🤣
If you are an orthopedic surgeon you will be fine, orthos are more mechanics than doctors 🤣🤣. Jokes a side the removal is similar but the side panels are bigger and extend further forward. I think you should give it a try. Good luck my friend 🤞😀👍
Hi, Remove the windscreen, remove the socket bolts, it's 2 of them on the tip top, lastly there is a tab at the bottom tip by the center of the headlight. Good luck 😀👍
With the adventure sports this is not possible :-( I just connected new foglights on mine. I managed to get to the aux connector on the right side, but the left side was impossible. I really regret buying the Heed crashbar it is a pain to remove and it ruins the possibility to add a footshifter on the DCT model.
Now try doing all that after an eight hour day of riding off road within a say with in a 5-7 day trip...great...thanx Honda for a crappy air box design. These are supposed to be adventure bikes right? A few days in a row of dusty conditions you will need to replace or clean that filter or suffer the consequences. Most manufacturers are redesigning their air boxes because this....but not Honda.
2020+ have the same filter. 2017-2019 are different.
Thank you for the clarification 👍

Great video as usual, but to be honest, air filter access shouldn't be so time consuming on an ADV bike.
I agree 👍
I watched your video on Heed crash bars and yes you can remove air filters no crash bars great video ty sir
Thanks man 😀👍

Top removal would have been optimal 👍
Maybe one of their guys in the air box design meeting who had that idea was asleep or on vacation that day😂
@stevek4449 🤣🤣🤣
Liked before watch. You are the best, Albe! 💪
Thank you 😀👍
thank you

Thanks Abe. Great channel. Do you know how the front comes off? The plastics behind the screen. I want to install the givi gps mount. Thanks

Doesnt the africa twin have 2 air filters...? I remember seeing 2 vents on the front, one on the left, and one on the right..
2 air filters, exactly the same process for both sides. Why would he show the exact same thing twice?
Sei riuscito senza sganciare il sebatoio? La mia è una standard 2023 ma non riesco se non sgancio il serbatoio
Si, il serbatoio non lo ho toccato per niente

I agree with you completely 😀👍
New Suzuki 800 is a 10 min job to change the air filter.
where did you get the service manual?
I bought the PDF version online, I can't remember exactly where, maybe ebay, 🤷
la procedura è la stessa per l Adventure Sport 1100 ?
Credo di si, ma non ne sono sicuro al 100%
so far not impressed by honda 'quality and reliability' they leak, or burn oil and are a huge pita to work on...
lol! said no one but you.
What bike do you have, mate?
About 3000 times easier than a multistrada.
LOLOLOLOL
Yes
Could have just shown how the cover is removed 😒.
