As someone who’s lived with T for over a year, it gets better, believe me. With time, your brain learns to ignore it. You get to a point where you don’t pay attention to it, therefore, you don’t hear it at all and even if you do, you simply get use to it. Just ignore it and your brain will do the rest. Then you can honestly say, “It doesn’t bother me anymore”. As for spikes, what goes up, must come down. And it always does. Let not your heart be troubled. Truly.😀❤️
Please don't give up on yourself. I live with OCD and if I can learn to live with it, anyone can. I like everyone was constantly aware of it & the future looked bleak, mostly because my OCD brain was fixated on it. 3 years on & now I forget I have it & live a wonderful life. You really do adapt to the point that your brain automatically tunes it out 🙏🏻
My great grandmother suffered from really bad tinnitus it was that bad that she became suicidal, now i also suffer from tinnitus and i just wish/pray/hope that it will never get that bad with me.🙄and thanks for the advice ❤
Hi Alice, Thank you for another uplifting video. T-spikes can be hard to deal with. One moment you seem to have learned to live with it, the next you seem to start from zero again. Remarkable how many people I know live with the T-challenge. One day this too shall pass 🙏
Immersion in an activity is one of the best ways I've found to live life outside of your body, something that will calm the inescapable feeling of being trapped. Observing what is around you then describing it in words written or painting it is absorbing and a creative distraction.
I just wish I knew why, after all this time, I’m still seeking it out every waking moment. It’s such an unhealthy and cruel obsession that I just can’t seem to rid myself of. Maybe because it’s such an unnatural torment that I continue to think - has it finally gone away. If only! Welcome home from your holiday Alice. Hope you both had a fab time ♥️
It makes sense to seek it out. It takes time. It isn’t easy, so be patient and kind to yourself! I haven’t gone away yet! I’ll be going away in May for 5 weeks 🙂
@@alicemoyle Confusion comes easily for me 😌I thought it was for a much longer time away. Definitely something to look forward to. And thank you, I thought it was just my obsession but obviously ‘normal’. Cheers Alice
Im here because i just experienced ny first, really bad spike after 3 weeks of getting better. This feels really horrible and it feels just like the first time. Yes, I just need to remind myself, with the help of your videos that indeed, this too shall pass. Thank you very much.
You are more than welcome! I hope you are doing okay. It can be really tough and feel isolating, but just remember that you've got this and there are many people just like you!
Hi Alice. More powerful advice and it's much appreciated as I'm going through a weeks long tinnitus spike. I work full time and every day I struggle to get out of bed and plant my feet on the ground and find a way to get through the day. I've broken down a few times lately, admittedly. I worry about my work, my family, my future which feeds into my overall anxiety. I appreciate your advice as much of it really hits home for me. Thank you and I hope you are doing well.
Hey Alice - you are so similar to me, I have had tinnitus for about 12 years, but also OCD, anxiety and emetophobia - what fun :D But we do come out stronger! So many times in my life I've got to a dark place and come through so even thought it can be hard (and is right now) it is really good to look at how strong you are. I'm in a big spike - been going on for about 6 weeks - some kind of congestion/ETD stuff so hoping it resolves. Just want to say thanks for putting yourself out here - it makes me feel so much less alone and like I have hope to find relief again xx
@@chantald222 hi, I think it’s calming down but it’s still not 100% back to baseline but I still have the congestion symptoms which the dr is investigating - but even if it doesn’t calm down fully I feel much better about it x
Thank you so much for sharing and for your kind words. I hope you are feeling better and I'm sorry for the delayed response! I am so glad that sharing my experience, helps you to feel less alone. That is my goal! I wish you all the best.
I am sorry to hear about your struggles and the recent spike. It is possible to overcome the spike and often it occurs when we are not feeling anxious or overly focused on the tinnitus sound (which is hard to do during a spike) however we need to not fear or emotionally react to the sound for the brain to understand that we don't want to hear the sound anymore to let it fade into the background. I would suggest engaging in mindfulness such as deep breathing, body scans - going into nature and trying to do the things that you enjoy as much as you can. The more we sit at home and focus on the sound - the more it is in our awareness. I just recently posted a video which touches on these things. I hope you are doing okay and wishing you all the best!
Stroke started mine in right ear mostly. I work in a noisy elementary cafeteria . Mine spikes am fluids helps . I mostly ignore it . I do my breathing calm myself. I have tried all the kinds of techniques nothing seems to work . ❤
the last week was very stressfull my car is broken and some personal problems so i dont sleep well on two days, today i wake up with a whisper on my ear besides my T, i lisent all the morning and go away on the afternoon i think is my body tell me calm down, i tell myself everything is gonna be okay,
Thank you Alice... i dont think i have tinnitis as bad as some, but i still struggle with the bad days... i seem to have a few good (quiet) days and thinking yay!!.... i am though this...... and then back to some loud days...and oh no... here we go...... i believe that i can make matters worse by focusing on it, and i have been struggling with not focusing on it, though, that is what i need to be able to do... i am going to be OK and often tell myself, there are people out there with conditions worse than me and that they would trade this silly non-painful 'tone' i have for what they have... so i want to be grateful that this is my only concern... i have about everything you mention, i am worrying about a lot of things in my life right now, and have a fair amount of stress, not sleeping well, but i do ride my bike 4-5 days a week for 15 miles and i have a optimistic outlook... so i am a work in progress but know i can get there....... eventually...... thank you for listening..
Thank you for sharing your story. I can really relate to a lot of your experience. I think it is totally natural to go through the cycles of feeling good and bad with tinnitus. It sounds like you have a great attitude however and that will definitely help in the long run. Other people might have far "worse" challenges, however, it is completely valid to struggle with your own. Be kind to yourself and remind yourself that it takes time. You can feel better!
thank you... i have gotten it to calm down now by researching new stocks to invest in and listening to crickets... lol.... thank you for helping people like me...
I work at a dog daycare and in the early days, the noise level definitely affected mine. I now use Loop ear plugs while on the floor, they have helped greatly. I’m extremely aware of my sleep, diet, mental health. I use affirmations too. I always leave my Loops in my purse just in case. I also no longer listen to music passed a certain level, I used to blast it in my car.
Hi thank you for this video I do suffer with tinnitus really bad and it seems like it won't go away it is very irritating and aggravating and it is hard to sleep at night what this ringing in my ear so again thank you so much for this video it was very helpful🙏🏼😊
Gracias Alice. Yo en edtos momentos tengo un pico por bronquitis.....me dice aquí estoy...😅 Me provoca pero doy seré 🎉 mas fuerte y rediliente. Gracias por ayudarnos ❤
I do have a question about background noise - do you work in silence with your tinnitus? Are you able to tune your tinnitus out while working in quiet? I just ask as I can sleep in silence with my tinnitus fine, but struggle to concentrate on work with it, but I'd like to get to a place where I can work without background noise :)
Hey there! I hear my tinnitus way less often compared to at the beginning. The more I focus on it and talk about it in these videos, the easier it is to hear it. However, before making these videos, I was hearing it more like 90% of the time!
I could still hear it whilst watching TV for a while. The more I learned to accept the sound and work through the fear attached to the sound, the less of an impact it had on me and over time the sound became softer and less in my awareness. I can still get a spike if I am really overwhelmed of under slept, however, it won't last too long and I've learned to take care of myself in those moments.
Yes i am married now and responsible of 2 children and i had tinnitus god knows the best gor us i pray every moment to be healed completely and all sufferrers
