Like woody said it really reminds me of the dad that took his young son that wasn't even open water certified on his first dive into eagles nest, the mount everest of cave diving where they both died. Really makes you angry about the lack of awareness and the willingness to recklessly put your loved ones life in danger by someone that is supposed to protect them...
It looks so easy and harmless, some people are stubborn and ignore warnings from other knowledgeable people.

I don't think it should be called the mount everest of cave diving. A mount everest attempt takes months, costs 50k plus, and kills way more people. There are caves that take that level of preparation, too, but not eagles nest.

I agree the freediving footage was amazing! In my opinion the freedivers seemed very much in control and very comfortable. I didnt see anything wrong with what they were doing. On a side note did everyone see all the writing at the bottom during the freediving footage? Seems to be a pretty popular place!
This reminds me of the time, me and my brother (we were like 10 and 8), climbed down a 50 feet waterfall without any equipment and through slippery rock.
I remember thinking "if we fall we will die", but I also thought "well if this was really this dangerous then how is it this easy to reach it?" and just kind of brushed it off.
I still have images of my brother above me, and to this day I get scared shitless when thinking about it.
All because a 15yo girl was with us, and we trusted her, much like these kids trust their parents and end up dying doing this.
Grew up on the coast with high cliffs, so ive been there and done that before too with upto 150ft cliffs. Still have some flash backs, including the sound my mate was making crying his eyes out as we attempted to climb back out in the dark. Our mistakes we had a chance to get ourselves out, can't imagine that happening 40ft under water in a cavern
Kids will be kids, but when theres an adult with you and you need actual specialised gear then theres no excuses for pushing it like in this video
OMG water on rocks is one of my . . . "phobias" would be an overstatement, but I definitely have an extra amount of anxiety about hiking over watery rocks because of the slippery algae. It's so easy to get injured doing stuff like that, but it can be so hard to get help after it happens.
I had the same thought at Niagara falls. When I was a kid the only fence at the falls was a little wooden snow drift kind of fence. I remember stepping over the fence walking right up to the water. I think we are so used to modern saftey standards and government protection that it's almost surreal when we see a thing that is deadly and so easily accessible
@S. Clarke Oh this thread has reminded me of the young guy who was refused entry into one of the local pubs near where I live one weekend a few years ago. He drunkenly refused to take 'no' for an answer, so he found a high wall with a spiked top around the back of the property to clamber over, feeling triumphant prematurely as he got one leg over. One of the spikes punctured his inner thigh and not only did he never get inside the pub but he never made it inside his own front door ever again. Accidents are more likely when you're reckless and arrogant (not to mention impaired due to substance abuse). Always sad and it can happen to anybody as none of us are perfect and all of us remember how stupid we could be as teenagers and kids in our early 20s. I ought to have died a hundred times over when I think back at my youth. Judgement doesn't come so easy to me (with the honest exception being in the case of that bloke who took his uncertified young son cave diving in Eagle's Nest and got them both killed). That sort of bizarre adult decision-making (when sober, to boot) boggles my mind and so my reticence to judge comes not from moral purity but due to being temporarily stunned by the details of the story. It's the only gruesome tale I feel angry to contemplate. Incredibly sad.
I've done that climbing up Yosemite falls without gear 3/4 way up. Same with exploring mines in line pine, ca. Walking across plants not anchored down over shafts that would be certain death if losing balance.
As a diver and a father I’m shocked that this man would take his kids down there. You guys are right, no cavern skills, no redundancy. 🤦♂️
new coworker met yesterday is a cave diver; was great he started talking rebreathers, side mounts, etc and I was able to understand what he was saying because of you two; thanks for being creative!

A good example of "I've never had a problem diving so there will be no problems today". And they got away with it, and so the dad feels his decision to take them in there was correct. It wasn't, even if he had given them both fins!
The Law of Averages/Murphey's Law WILL kick in eventually, doing things without the proper training just increases the likelihood that when it happens you will not have the knowledge and skills to get yourself out of whatever situation that ends up being.
Absolutely insane. This father was for sure in the wrong. The fact they made it out I assume will instill overconfidence in a young kid, which in scuba to me isn’t good. This was so dumb

Let me preface these comments with the fact that the totality of my diving experience has been approximately 15 minutes in a pool with a certified open water instructor. This was when I was in my early 20's, and the opportunity to try scuba diving in a controlled environment at a college at an outdoors symposium that was being held across a 3-day weekend. I quickly found out that my lifelong nasal allergies, and the concomitant nasal blockages that I suffered from year round, made even diving in the shallow end of that pool somewhat painful. The deep end of the pool, made it quite clear to me that diving was not to be something that I was going take up, regardless of how much I was in love with the concept of it.
I'm a former rock climber from the mid-to-late 70's. I equate free diving with other types of extreme high-risk activities such as wing gliding, bungee jumping from great heights, free climbing, etc.
Those free divers at Blue Springs, Florida were doing those dives because they could, not because they should, or because the dives were particularly safe. As both Gus & Woody pointed out multiple times in this video, there simply was not enough light reaching deep down from the surface in those narrow crevices to allow those divers the ability to see what they were doing should something go wrong. And, from my life's experiences, something always goes wrong eventually, because the Law of Averages makes sure that it will.
The key to surviving when something goes wrong, which Dive Talk hammers into its viewers consciousness with virtually every video, is that proper safety procedures; proper equipment; redundancy with lights, etc. which is really about proper equipment; and most importantly, proper training; will allow one the best possible chance to survive if, and when, something eventually goes wrong.
I would venture a guess that narcissism, egotism, selfishness, and hubris, all play a part with the two free divers, and especially with the father of the two young boys.
The reason that so many children are growing up to be irresponsible adults these days, is because they are not being exposed to responsible adult role models during their formative years.
This is especially true for boys, and young men.

In response to your side note about diving, I always wanted to dive, but I can't go any deeper than around 20 feet because my ear drums feel like they're going to explode. I never looked into this so I never knew it was a "thing", but your situation sounds similar so I guess it is 😭
@@llyn5759 I have a balance disorder and my ears hurt hiking or in airplanes. Like my eardrums are going to explode. I can't imagine underwater
That's kind f..d up the kids don't know or won't realize how dangerous it can be so THIS IS the father's responsibility, especially for such young guys that still have their whole life in front of them. honestly, makes me sad.
Should get charged with child endangerment or get a visit from cps, really. Even if it’s just to scare some sense into him.

The freedivers, are as usual, crazy good. They act like they have been there hundreds of times and know every crack and crevice. Which is a hazard in itself. Overconfidence.
I dove Blue Springs back in 1980. My buddy and I stayed mostly out of the current by staying on the side "shelves". We planned what we called a 100' "bounce dive" to check things out. We both were equipped with pony bottle redundant air supply, and pulled our selves down, got to where, we would go no further, (still see light from above). As we turned to leave, one of my fins got into the upflow, and slammed my knee into my face, and dislodging my regulator. I recovered my regulator and cleared it, readjusted my mask, then noticed the burning in my right thigh. I had pulled the muscles in my leg pretty badly. At first I thought they were torn, but later examination showed no tears. Exiting was much easier than getting down, but the long easy swim back to the exit point was difficult with only one and a half legs.
I told you this, to say this. The current in the Blue Springs hole can catch even experience divers off guard. It is NO PLACE for novice divers especially, kids. The current dissipates quickly as the opening widens,, but the current is still swift and can send unwary, inexperienced divers on an express ride to the surface, resulting in at worst a baratrama accident as we saw the one boy holding his breath when he removed his regulator.
No guys, you are NOT overreacting, as usual you are right on the money.

The first video reminds me of my dad. He took me caving often when I was a kid. Without telling anyone where we were going, with only one flashlight between us, exploring completely unknown to us caves. I loved it as a kid, then I joined the speleological society and learned how flipping dangerous that had been. I still love caves, but I do it safely now so I don't have to spend on luck to get out
Pretty insane that a lung overexpansion can already happen with a pressure difference of 3 feet , never knew that.
I know, I found that fascinating and had to rewind to listen more closely and make sure I understood correctly. I love channels like this where I learn at the same time as being entertained. The more niche the subject, the better.
I appreciate your relatively measured commentary even when you’re watching absolutely wtf situations. You explain what’s wrong and you don’t just say, “God, these people are idiots.” You also have enough humility to admit when you might not have full knowledge of the situation, e.g. the appropriateness of free divers in caverns.
One of my absolute favorite things about both of you guys is your diligence in following proper procedures!! It doesn't take away from ANY part of the experience, and I think y'all showcase that brilliantly. There's just ZERO reason for shortcuts, going beyond your training, etc. You both are shining a huge light on EVERY aspect of cave diving through this platform. Even your training videos look fun!! Used to swim here literally everyday for years. I was at the park when a diver got stuck down in the spring and drowned. The water pressure at this spring was crazy, we used to try to swim down and touch the spring but none of us could even make it half way down. It really sucked when they fenced off the docks because someone dived in a shallow part and broke their neck so they took that fun away years ago. The only diving enforcement ive ever seen at Blue Springs was the signs that said "Divers check in at office". There was an older gentlemen who worked at Blue Springs when I went there all the time, he was a very nice guy and a good park ranger who worked there for many years but I dont think I ever seen him checking diving credentials, its very easy for a random person to to get into the water and dive with no resistance. I used to grab giant rocks and driftwood to bring home for my fish tanks and no one ever noticed or stopped me even though it was forbidden. It would be pretty tough if they had to check every divers credentials before entering since so many go here.
The sad thing is that the father clearly doesn't think he's doing anything wrong. He claims his son "felt safe" and that they wouldn't do anything unsafe and that they both have a lot of diving experience.
That "father" is clearly thriving on ego. Showing off for his kids. It's literally shocking! Also, that manatee had a baby with her! Did ya see it? So cute. That's all I got♥️

@@audreyschomer8357 Yeah I wouldn't even take that small kid diving and he's taking them cave diving, absolutely shocking (I doubt too that little kid is even certified). I never get angry at adults making stupid mistakes for themselves but these kids have zero choice to even make their own decision if they're okay with the danger and they trust their father.

Out of all the diving death videos out, these are the best. Most videos are spooky story narratives. But these guys here react to them and show just how amateurish divers can be. The complacency is incredible. The masses need to start to respecting nature a whole lot more!

I’m cavern-certified and live in Florida. I’ve dived all those Springs, but never went that far. It’s scary AF, even with basic cavern gear. Can’t imagine taking those kids in there. If you haven’t dived a spring, you have no idea how strong the water flow blasts out of there.
First off you guys are an asset to the sport of diving and not grumpy old guys you promote safety and training as being paramount weather it be open water, tech, or cave unfortunately bad things do happen but proper training can help avoid most accidents Keep up the great work

because it's not. Woody and Gus are getting mocked for bitching about a OW dive to 34 ft with an open surface at a park that allows OW dives here to 50ft. They mislabeled it as a cave dive for outrage clickbait.
@@djlosch How are they getting mocked? In the original video, a fellow diver outlined 8 SERIOUS issues with the video. Woody and Gus practice SAFETY and Training above anything else. They explained it all in plain english in the video

"34 ft depth under an open sky" is not a cave dive under any agency's definition. Yet they put it in their title.
@@djlosch I DO know the dive site. It is NO place for novice divers or children who hold their breath when they remove their regulator and have very little to no buoyancy control. Not to mention the younger one that didn't even have fins.
@@djlosch I would argue that they absolutely know what they're talking about, considering a large amount of other people not even on the dive talk channel have brought up the exact same concerns.
It is in fact a Cave Diving site, the children show a blatant lack of fundamentals and skills required to be in a cave/cavern/vertical shaft with heavy flow. Here is the list from user Dive Current from the original video.
1- taking children into what’s an obvious overhead environment I’m guessing without cavern or cave certification/training…
2- no redundancy
3- one child has no fins
4- everyone’s trim is awful
5- no bouncy control at all (walking and pulling across the rocks!
6- child removed regulator for an extended period and didn’t blow bubbles!
7- child floods mask to show off and appears struggling to clear…
8- child picks up a large rock which could have easily pulled him down and caused a buoyancy issue
Yes, I agree that light can be seen from where they are. But I would argue that this is not the same as being in an open water area, they are essentially in a tunnel with heavy flow and do not possess the skills or even gear for one of the children to safely dive in this location.
As someone who has watched these guys for a long time, Woody and Gus don't have to drum up outrage clicks, They admit when theyre wrong and when theyre discussing something outside the scope of their experience and understanding.

To try and answer some of the free diving related questions. There is no such thing as a free diving cavern or cave certification.
In general, it's possible to do this kind of thing reasonably safely by approaching it very cautiously and doing a lot of recon before doing the actual swim-through/entry, so you know exactly where you're going and how to come back - the good old 'plan the dive, dive the plan' thing. And make sure your buddy knows exactly where you're going to go so they may be able to help. In most shots in the video, there are actually 2 divers (one is the cameraman) and another 1-2 on the surface.
I don't know this dive site but it does look like they're pushing it a bit there.... although they're saying they've done hundreds of dives there before to try and build up to it.
Additionally, they had what looked like a scuba supporter diver in one of the shots. Very much pushing the limits though, very talented divers
Nope. Been diving since I was 11. Got PADI certified at 11. Been diving with my dad nearly 20 years since then.
This is insane. Children, even bold and intelligent ones, simply cannot possibly have enough life experience in the water, with or without tanks, with or without caves; this is insane.
Practice safe diving with your kids for years then take them caving. Just wow.

@@rottsandspots Dad says he and his son are certified(didn't say all 3 kids though lol) and that the dad is also a certified recovery diver, so lets hope he doesn't need those skills in the future. Guy had a bit of a meltdown on one of his comments on his video hence the info, called cave divers sissys lol

@@thegracklepeck Regardless he is overconfident. "Remind yourself that overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer" may be a quote from a horror game but it true of real life. Overconfidence will get you killed or worse, will make you put others in situations that cause their death.

The issue is that you can go on 30/200 dives and face no issues despite lacking appropriate training, insufficient equipment, poor technique in dangerous area's. It's not instant death if you leave a box unticked, it just raises the risk of something happening and not being in a position to deal with that event.
Almost everyone who has faced a near-death scenario either regretted not getting appropriate training or not adhering to the training. They all admit they were unable to percieve or understand the risks, until the danger actually manifested.

Nah, there's nothing to talk about, he has clearly stated that he thinks two non-cavern divers taking two brand new young divers into a cavern with heavy flow is Safe. Where do you go from there? This is delusion at the highest degree...either delusion or ignorance. If he does record a reaction it won't be to seek understanding or try to change people's minds, it will be to seek attention. That's the main reason he posted the video anyway.
I would literally only be interested in this videos existence to hear Gus and Woody tear into the dude for doubling down. Instead I just hope someone calls CPS, because if he's defending this behavior he will 100% put his children in this danger again.

I hope that dad sees this!! It’s amazing wanting to share your passions with your children, however doing that recklessly is sad to see. the free divers are amazing to watch but they have to know they are tempting fate every time they do that. Also I hope the free divers don’t inspire more free divers of a lower skill set to attempt this because that could definitely end in disaster!
Hi guys! Great videos, big fan. As free diver/safety diver with 7 years experience. I will not be a buddy for this cave dive. A free diving buddy must be able to see the freediver at all times to detect any signs of trouble (and take a rescue action). Depend on the depth you are aiming for as a free diver, your buddy/safety diver will escort you- Face to Face through the area of greatest danger - which is between 15m and the surface. I am not aware of any cave freediving certificates.
Thanks for the videos postings and reacting to these videos, Gus and Woody! I'm glad I came across Dive Talk channel, and I stuck around binge watching before going on my diving trip. It changed my mindset and diving attitude, which is lifesaving! Last week I went diving and came across a small right bend swimthrough. I would have absolutely given in to the excitement
to try it out, get inevitably stuck in between, and getting myself in trouble. All while I am currently not certified for overhead environment or cave diving yet. After I watched many Dive Talk videos, I gained an awareness, which toned down my curiosity and humbled me immensely. Thanks for creating this channel, you guys are awesome and I hope to see you in person some day.
There are levels of risk that are unacceptable, the irresponsibility is so blatant that I don't even have words, and then what happens? Other people risk their lives to rescue living people or corpses in caves like these. These people should be fined seriously for exposing kids to situations like we saw.
I love how u guys explain these videos as if we have zero diving experience, because that is exactly how much I have , zero, so I do learn a lot from what you guys say and its just great knowledge to have. The main thing I have learnt from your channel I will NEVER Dive into a cave.. period. If I ever got into diving your videos would keep me away, for sure.. great jobs guys, love the channel!
There is a dude in one of my Facebook dive groups who posts bragging about going to the cave zone in blue with just an ow cert. He brought his kid as well...wonder if it's the same guy

As a parent I can kinda understand wanting to share something you are passionate about with your kids .. that being said .. I would NEVER put any of my children at risk for any reason like who takes 2 kids into an underwater cave like is it about time to consider taking my 4 year old skydiving.. I can’t imagine looking past all the safety issues and just taking them in .. I’m a little mind blown guys

The older kid looks very relaxed and comfortable down there, but the younger one is literally holding onto his dad he’s so inexperienced. I could see the little one having a problem and it quickly ballooning into an emergency situation for the whole family. Just because the dad got too excited about sharing diving with/showing his kids caverns and got reckless. I get why he would want to share the experience with them, but get them proper instruction first. And he’s clearly not the one to do it.

@@mesapholis I sure as hell would hope so, it’s absurd to me as to why any sane father would put his kids in a position like this. I’m not one for big government but holy hell with as stupid as some people who are SCUBA Certified get the states should take it upon themselves to implement laws to ensure people who wish to enter specialized underwater environments are competent and licensed to do so. This is so dangerous. Again, i know asking for state side government laws to be implemented for diving is a wildly unpopular opinion, but i’m talking more like if you go into a cave without being certified and are caught up by say park rangers or what have you, then you get a fine. THIS particular instance is far outside of that since it involves children. We regulate other recreational activities like fishing with law so why not with diving to a small extent? just my opinion, and depending on the state i wouldn’t want those laws either but i live in Florida and Florida and it’s law enforcement is usually very fair when it comes to laws surrounding recreational activities so maybe it’s worth a try? Idk. I don’t even SCUBA dive i’m just a free diver 😂.
Kids of this age have climbed Mount Everest. 12 is not to young to be trained properly to handle something like this, its not like they are diving something incredibly challenging.
nah. Look at the facts, not what they misrepresented. It's a dive to 34 ft, shows on the computer. Surface is still directly above head. @@djlosch the facts are he took his inexperienced kids into a cavern with heavy flow where any number of other issues (like the several examples they discussed in the video if you'd watched it) could have arrose and ended in fatalities as it has plenty of other times in similar scenarios around the world.

I dont see any problem in this video tbh, they have tanks and the kids knows the safety precautions, some kids are not dumbass they can even be chess GM at young age, i believe these kids are smarter than most viewers here, and u think u want them to have like years of experience in order to dive? That is just a guideline to keep dive enjoyers from killing themselves unexpectedly, no matter how experience u are of its ur time its ur time. Its nice to start diving since ure a kid as u get less scared and panicking is the no. 1 cause of death in diving, but kids who dives have experienced parent divers who taught them, nobody not even PADI will certify a kid in cave diving nonsense clickbait video btw. A parent trained kid is better than a random 20 yr old enjoyer getting lesson from old diver dudes. Dont forget once u got ur gear all checked and ure underwater the hardest thing to do is DONT PANIC or U DIE, 99% of the viewers here already failed just by watching this video

Stumbled upon yall's channel a few months ago and although I've never been certified or even dove in open water, I was intriqued and found the channel very interesting. I was on vacation a few weeks ago at the beach browsing a book store and to my surprise came across a Dive guide to Florida and NC coast's both from 1986. They were a few bucks a piece and I had to have them just to read up even though they are majorly dated and I know so many new techniques have now came about in the diving world. Just wanted y'all to know your channel is pegging people's interest in diving in general and the awareness you share of doing it properly makes people want to try it and in a safe way. Never knew just how much went into diving let alone cave diving but am hoping to start the process of getting OW certified next summer and see how it goes from there. Thanks for all your videos and showcasing that these things can be very safe if done properly and by certified people.
I won't say anything else about the child endangerment. I can't get those freedivers out of my mind. It would be an unacceptable level of risk for me to do even if I did know how, but man, that looks fun and beautiful. The camera work is art, and so is their swimming.

Haven’t finished but has to stop to say what get me is when you said “nothing happened” (nothing bad) and that’s good, but also dangerous, because now it’s adding to their confidence that they can continue to just do whatever. Also, in regards to YOLO, it’s true, which is why im all for taking proper precautions/being educated when going on adventures, that way they can continue living and trying new stuff.
One is able to feel the sincerity from both Gus and Woody. I done plenty commercial dives but I will not enter a cave before I am certified! Thanks Gus and Woody you saved many a life just from watching your TH-cam channel. Big Love, from South Africa!

I feel like the more they dive like this and make it, their confidence builds to a point of complacency and then it's no longer a safe. This stuff makes me so anxious because it makes others want to try it also.

Blue Spring is one of my favorite dive sites and one of the safest if you don't go past 60 feet or so. It's a beautiful spring. Always have sight of the surface and those little ledges aren't really that easy to get wedged into. Also the cameras make it look much darker than it usually is in person, from my experience at least.
Not sure how I feel about bringing kids there, but for trained adults I'd say it's absolutely worth going!
Of course! Trained adults, no problem. 10 year olds? No way.

I just stumbled on your channel and it's great! I've been diving since 13 and was lucky to have some great divers along with me like Dick Long from DUI. I would never allow my kids to do such crazy cave dive without years of training
I snorkeled here a few times. I am a open water diver only. I remember being there once and 2 Scout Masters took 4-5 boys into the cave. One of the boys was very spooked out. I saw his eyes and it was awful. Also, a swimmer was killed by a gator here not too long ago.

@Pat Luxor It can be fatal if bad enough. And I don't know what kind of lingering effects he will suffer from, it all depends on the severity of the trauma.
I have for young children and I love diving even though I never did it. I love watching this type of stuff. I would love to take my kids diving one day but it would only be with a professional instructor And probably in a pool lol

yeah no...i used to go there all the time as a kid, the trees across the opening is so nostalgic to me. it is not well lit down there, you can see past the trees from above, but not to the bottom or anywhere like this video shows it. always love watching the content guys. gus is our serious informative straight up man, and woody brings the young, almost childlike, aspect to it with knowledge aswell. such a unique pair. keep the content coming please and thank you :)

I dearly wished I'd have discovered your channel when I was still in nursing school! I've learned and retained so much about gas laws from Gus' excellent breakdowns.
Gus and Woody are simply impressive in their analyses - they really know their stuff. I'm not a diver, tried it out in a swimming pool twice, but even that was enough to realise how skillful you need to be. And as for signing up for a proper course afterwards - no way. A man's gotta know his own limitations!

I know someone who regularly goes diving with his daughter. When she started diving she was only like 11, they took the classes together and got open water certified. If they are all trained and certified and following safety guidelines with proper gear I see no problem with it, although it seems like that isn't the case. Some children are children but some aren't....when I was younger in age myself I was never a child, I always hated being treated like one because I had the intellect of an adult. Granted I realize that is probably not common, I never met anyone my own age that acted, spoke, or thought as I did and never wanted to be around or be friends with anyone my age until my older teenage years because they were all children and I was not. However, I'm sure that I'm not the only one like that either. I could have easily gone through the classes and been certified as a diver at age 7 or 8 had I been interested in doing so. Or maybe not, I might get in the water and panic or just be unable to acquire the skill to dive, but my point is that either way the results would be the same whether I was 8 years old or my current age of 30 years old.
I did snuba diving and they definitely didn’t stress the lung expansion injury aspect enough. Was down up to 20 feet on compressed air and I luckily blew bubbles but it wasn’t a big thing at the instructions

That free diver stuff I will never understand. I mean remarkable at how long they can hold their breaths for. But what if something happened, anything could happen. Ughhh just freaks me out. So much can go wrong.

As far as I know, there’s no certification for free diving in caves/ caverns.
Another example of just because a person gives birth doesn't make them or the Father a good or smart parent. It's another reason why channels like Dive Talk are an asset to the community. It takes a village sometimes and I am hopeful that the wise information given here will impact this Father or even another parent and stop them from doing the same. Having an attitude about safety makes everyone you are in a group with safer. My best trips climbing and mountaineering have been with ppl that don’t fuck around with safety checks before and during the climb. I would bet you and Gus are fantastic to cave dive, I hope to work my way up to that some day and dive with y’all. Can’t wait to try, y’all’s “attitude” about safety made it seem less like a horror of the earth and more like something I could maybe do one day

The free divers are amazing, although it gives me claustrophobia :D With scuba gear, you can get stuck or wedged almost everywhere in that cave/cavern.
I've snorkeled, daytime over some beautiful very near shore reefs. But I've always thought that actual scuba diving would give me generic claustrophobia (which, there's got to be an actual word for that since you are in open ocean). Anybody know what that word is? Is it the opposite of claustrophobia? Strangely, I'm not claustrophobic at all, I feel asleep during a MRI once.

@@mle3699Sort of, agoraphobia by the original Greek means "fear of the marketplace" which more translates to the fear and panic of being outside in crowded places. I was thinking of more of a when you are in a huge vast open space all alone (with the possibility of creepy things looming in the dark just out of site that you can't see). There' got to be a word for that. Claustrophobia is the fear of confined, tight space so the fear of more like floating in outer space all by your lonesome
Guys, it seems pretty simple to me. If that’s a place you really wanna go and really want to see just take a few steps that are required to do it as safely as possible. yes you may go and nothing happens but how would you feel as a father taking your kids there if something were to happen that could’ve easily been prevented . And most of the classes that you’re going to take to prepare for a situation like that are super fun to take.!!
