There are scammers on Facebook pretending to sell items from their Dad's house. If you engage with them, you're going to be scammed.
Here's the full paragraph they are using. Feel free to paste it over at Facebook and see all the results!
"Hello guys, we are clearing out items from my Dad's house (he got moved to aged care) and he is no longer in need of these items and he is glad to have the extra money for other expenses on coming holidays. We have a truck and can deliver at a small extra fee. Send a Dm if interested in any item."

The Facebook scam I tend to get the most where I am, is where they set up fake accounts of real people, and send out Friend requests to all the real person's friends, hoping to draw them into some get-rich-quick scheme. For this reason, nowadays when I get a Friend request from someone I'm already Friends with, I check up with the real person to see if the request was genuine. If - as is most often the case - it wasn't genuine, I proceed to tell the perpetrator exactly what I think of them, no holds barred.
The annoying part is, Facebook had the cheek to reprimand me for telling thieving bar stewards the truth about themselves. I don't get it: I'M being reprimanded for doing exactly what Facebook SHOULD be doing!?!?

On some level its that persons fault everyone connected to them also got hacked justg because that first person doesnt value their account. It happened to my steam account once luckily everyone I was friends with was smart not to click it, and after all that all they did was play PUBG til Valve got my account back.. I’ll add to this video; we were looking at an item that was priced realistically, but would have been about an hour’s drive.
The seller provided an address, but then wanted a deposit because of so many inquiries.
When they provided the link (Venmo) it wasn’t their name, and when asked, said it was their sister.
We looked further into the accounts (many Venmo purchases are public) and the seller’s Facebook account was brand new, and the Venmo account had limited transactions. The address provided seemed to be an actual address
We passed on the item and reported the Marketplace listing; similar adds with the same photos and information started showing up everywhere.
Our guess is there are a lot of people who send a deposit: and had the accounts been set up a little better, we might have been fooled, too.
That all said, cash is king in Facebook marketplace if you are going to buy in person-and a deposit should never be necessary.
