A scammer claiming to be from the Publisher's Clearing House contacted me trying to get me to "pre-pay my taxes" on my reward. I didn't fall for because he had a chicken in the background that kept clucking. Anybody know where he was from??

The publishers clearing house scam happened to my 80 something year old great grandpa (retired police officer). He was on the phone with them for hours. They told him he was gonna get a Mercedes. He told them what he was gonna do with the money. He told them what color his Mercedes is gonna be. But then they asked for money. So he didn’t believe it. Long story short they said they need money and they Will be on the way to his house in a van. He told them “my son in law is a cop and he will meet you outside” and they got scared. He didn’t give them money and that story was a funny family story on how he actually scared them by telling them is son in law is a cop.

She was so happy to receive money she called me crying, it broke my heart to tell her shes most likely been scammed. She watches your videos now and shes more aware of scammers. From the minute I saw chicken, without even watching I knew they where from Jamaica!
I've had this before! Funny enough it was for legit customer service. I called a rep for one of my college textbook publishers and the woman was very obviously foreign. In our 1 hour conversation I heard this chicken about every 2 minutes or so and it was just like this. I can attest that holding a professional conversation with a rooster in the background is an interesting experienc. 🐔
They should call themselves, "publishers clearing your account". Thanks for your what you do, Ben.

My grandma fell for publishing clearing house scams. She came over and tried to borrow money because shes been paying these people and they demanded even more money.
Poor chicken probably sacrificed itself to save people from being scammed. It's probably dinner.

My husband got a similar call, but this dude had a dog barking in the background. My hubby told the guy his name was "Porcupine" and the guy called him an idiot and hung up. Lol

I love the approach you take on revealing these scammers and how you reverse it and try to bring out the good and the people I know this because my grandmother was scammed out of $5,000 on a Medicare scam and we all had to get together and help her get that money back so we're very cautious now with her and I just want to thank you for bringing all these scammers to light I let her watch your channel all the time to kind of educate her on the jack offs out there

Wow, so scammers are even pretending to be scammers now. Only somewhat kidding on that. Publishers Clearing House does some really shady business practices though that mostly target old people. I know an older guy that was addicted to their website and would constantly accidentally order things from it that he didn’t mean to. They are set up in a way that makes this extremely easy to do. He did win $10 one time though, so I guess not technically a scam, but still really shady.

Been watching these videos ever since I was a victim of being scammed. Now I know to be extra weary of suspicious messages and voicemails.

I had an investigator that works for Consumer Protection tell me that People who get called from scammers and telemarketers this is what they need to do : They told me do NOT answer the calls period if U dont kno the number , let Voice Mail or an answering machine pick it up and then block the number . In the state where I live it is illegal to call cell phones if ur a telemarketer and the person is on a do not call list .And I am on a do not call list . But there still are those that get thru , and I have got sum weird and rather creepy voicemails they all get blocked . Stay safe all y'all and NEVER GIVE OUT ANY INFO ABOUT URSELF . It keeps U and ur family safe .

There are many Americans and Brits with different accents. Making fun of their accents is not okay. For example there are Indian-Americans and many have Indian accents. That inherently does not make it a scam.
@@neothepenguin1257 it's inherently a scam because it's a scam. And his accent drops just before ending the video and is completely wrong in many ways. Her accent could be genuine but given the fact that his is fake and it's a scam and there is a chicken, it's much more likely hers is fake too, though I wouldn't put any money on it.
