    Actually under the cover, animals also use bio-chemicals to defend themselves or attack their prey. For example, the secretion of adrenalin triggers the fight or flight reaction in humans, which gives the humans/animals a temporary boost in strength and energy to defeat or escape from the predator. Animals like venomous snakes use venom (bio-chemical) to attack its victims and defend itself from its predators. The higher up one goes in the food chain of living things, the more under-the-cover the bio-chemical weapons become.

      @@annsgal2025 Not quite the same. Plants have no other form of defense. They cannot get up and run away. All they can do is make themselves unappealing to potential aggressors. They use their bio weapons to do this. A lot of animals can just fight back (lions, Tigers, Bulls) or run away (deer). The adrenaline is more of a signal for their body to flee than to make them unappetizing to a predator. Lions and Tigers will still eat a deer even if it is pumped with adrenaline from the chase.

    I do agree with many points viz. Refregeration for 1-2 days & Time & Effort saving...........but at 38:35 Veg & Regular food....In India Non veg is not a Cheap option and it is not a food of Mass......1 Kg chicken cost Rs 200 and Mutton around Rs 600 where as at Rs 200 you will able to buy SEASONAL Vegetable which equivalent to 10 unit of meals where as Rs 200 chicken is hardly equivalent to 3 unit of meals...it was about chicken...now forget about Rs 600 Mutton..So India is not priviledged for sure regarding Veg & Non Veg. .....Vegetable & Pulses are multifold Cheaper in comparison to "Western/Middle East REGULAR Food"
    42:31 Whattttttt......1 Kg @ Rs 140 of toor daal will give you atleast 10 units of meal.....where as Chicken & Goat is free because they REPRODUCE.........at this time even HOST can not digest it 😅🤣......do you know what ...there many otherthings are also free ....viz. Humans they do also reproduce 😉......Thoda Bhavano mein beh gaya Ashok bhayaa 😀

      @@dj-gp9sw good points. One more point to note is that "Veg" food requires more time to prepare. Obviously we can't eat raw rice/wheat or the vegetables. The number of ingredients needed to make a typical indian vegetarian food is more. Whereas with meat/egg you can eat with minimum preparation if you want. For poor people who are starved of time, meat gives them more options to get their nutrition easily.

    The idea that poor people reproduce meat and eat forever is a total fallacy. Born and brought up in remote village amongst ordinary poor farmers around me. People ate their livestock very rarely. If some relatives come home or if there is a function or some special occasion. Also , you tend to forget the so called daal is also grown !!! Not just 140 rs kilo.. who grows it ?? Farmers of course. It's common practice for a farmer to keep one batch of his harvest first for home consumption and sell the rest. Only eggs are commonly consumed. Also selling the idea of there is no difference between meat and veg in terms of chemicals is pure nonsense. Red meat consumption is heavily associated with several cancers, mainly colorectal cancer. I am not sure two engineers sitting together and speaking authoritatively about medical science is a good idea to propagate rationality. There are several bunch of professional atheist+ rationalists who tried these in West. This looks like their Indian imitation. Atheist or theist you can debate till cows come home. The utility of many things are not apparent at surface level. If only we accept rationality and leave God, eat non veg, break societal norms blah blah then we can all live peacefully ever , is a wishful thinking. And not based in any empiricism. Same is true with Converse I will give you that. Being very religious and submissive has is share of fault in rigidifying the society.
    Also please strawmanning ayurveda , finding only the worst examples of quake TH-cam naturopaths.. there is a field called integrative medicine. This is the way forward. Combined research of all options. Not in silos. In this, ayurved doctors are also at fault. They don't put effort to integrate it with mainstream science either due to lack of funds or due to lack of interest. Do they think Charaka or sushruths would have stayed away from SEM or Microscopes if they existed during their time. One top dermatologist tried this integration for a disease without known treatment in chemical medicine.

    Please make a video on how to detect if a food is adulterated for increasing profits. For example if corn starch has been added to make Rabadi or kulfi thicker so that less milk is used to make the product? I am an NRI (USA) so I barely ever worry about food adulteration. However, occasionally I visit India and like to enjoy authentic Indian treats which are unadulterated.

    Welcome to FOOD WOKEISM 🙂 Looks like these 2 guys are set to say everything "modern" is great and everything traditional is bad. For example - surgeon does not want to do the surgery if one had been drinking turmeric water. Understood. Why the surgeon does not tell the patient to drink turmeric water instead of taking pharma blood thinners? It is all about saying traditional knowledge and methodologies are BS and we who follow "science" know the best. Sorry, you are as bad as a staunch traditional system believer. Traditional system believer is at one extreme and you are at the opposite extreme. Both extremes are not good. Better be somewhere in between taking the best from both.

    • @rationable
      @rationable  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It seems like you missed something in our conversation. We never said traditional is bad. Krish even said having fresh turmeric instead of powdered is probably beneficial. The reason why doctors don’t recommend you take turmeric instead of medical blood thinners is that turmeric hasn’t been tested to see what side effects it may have or what the right dosages could be whereas e pharmaceutical blood thinners have been. The more we know, the better the confidence of the prescription. We would love for ayurvedic preparations to be tested to see how they work, why they work and what safe dosages are. But not enough of those clinical trials have been done.

Regarding peer reviewed evidence, there is none and most likely there will be none in the future for the same reasons that I mentioned above in my previous comment, but I equally trust the combined wisdom of my grandmoms down through the generations. The traditional knowledge does not have to be wrong for the modern scientific proofs to be true, for lack of evidence is not always proof of absence. Therefore, while I highly appreciate and thoroughly enjoy the new knowledge that you bring forth, regarding the old, at best we do not know well enough.

      Absolutely! Since science is merely the method of understanding nature while eliminating biases, we should apply it to Ayurveda and other forms of hitherto untested “knowledge” passed down through the generations. • @devotionalsuja
      @devotionalsuja 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree, but (being a researcher myself) I also see the limitations of bringing down ancient wisdom to a much lower common denominator of scientific tests. To give you an example, modern science has proven that homeopathy has no scientific basis cause the level of dilution of the active ingredient is so low that statistically significant results never show up. However, when I take a few drops of the medicine and see my poop drastically change the next morning (apologies to @krishashok for this explicit example in the middle of a discussion on food!), I do not need any further evidence that at the minimum it has impact, though that may not be strong enough to throw up a statistically significant result in a double blind test or to be repeatable in the scientific sense. Even for me homeopathy does not work for many of my other health problems, but where it works, it is no more pseudoscience for me and for the rest I do no know yet.

      The body keeps the blood’s pH in very tight control through the functions of the kidneys and the lungs. When this control is lost, then we have really serious diseases. However, the pH of what we eat or drink has absolutely no effect on the pH of our blood since it’s first introduced to hydrochloric acid in the stomach, which makes everything acidic, and then it’s mixed with bile in the intestines, which is a strong alkali, which brings the food and drink close to a neutral pH.

      Colon cancer is caused by undigested sugar reaching colon and fermenting there. Dietary fiber and it's byproducts irritate the gut lining and if it happens for a long time, things can get out of hand.
      The theory about burned meat causing cancer is pointless because humans discovered the fire very long ago and have been eating partially burned meat for a long time too. The only recent change in dietary behaviour is excess dietary fiber along with excess sugar. Along with unprecedented amount of plant toxins irritating the gut.

    • @rationable
      @rationable  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not at all. Aspirin has been well tested and safe dosages have been made into tablets that one doesn’t even need to think about. Turmeric on the other hand has no safe dosage that has been determined. And we don’t know the other side effects. We know it can hurt the liver if you have too much but overdosages have not been determined with any accuracy either.

      @@rationable...During covid i think it was ginger juice more than turmeric which doctors opposed citing ginger is a blood thinner, there were lots of whatsapp fwds from doctors requesting people not to overdo it. Actually which one is the blood thinner, I'm confused now

    • @rationable
      @rationable  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @L5-YT I’m not sure. But I’m sure it’s easy to find out. Bottom line is, don’t overdo anything. Too much of anything can be bad. After all, the dose makes the poison.

    It depends on which type of protein it is what other foods are present with it.
    Red meat is digested almost as easy as water. But if you eat red meat with wheat which has protease inhibitors youll definitely get problems digesting it altogether. Plant protein on the othe other hand is largely indigestible on its own. Fat on the other hand is the hardest thing to digest because again depending on the type of fat, if its plant oil good luck with that, animal fat? easy. But because of recent low fat fad now people have less bile sensitivity, what do i mean by that? People eat regularly meals devoid of any kind of animal fat which is required to stimulate gall bladder to release bile which is necessary to breakdown fat.

    • @rationable
      @rationable  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think there are a couple of things I’d like to point out. First, protein is the hardest thing to digest in terms of calories. It takes around 25% of the calories consumed in protein to actually metabolise the protein. Carbohydrates are next at around 5% and fats are the easiest to metabolise, needing just 1-2% of the energy consumed. But digestion and metabolism are extremely complex processes that are not possible to simplify into one number.

    • @iAmDislikingEveryShort
      @iAmDislikingEveryShort 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@rationable why are you mixing the caloric expenditure with the actual capacity of digestibility of the substance? Actually what you wrote is completely irrelevant with what I said. If protein is of high quality as like in raw red meat eaten alone, it's digestibility is near 97%, if the meat is fatty and the person is bile insufficient then the fat will be the major residue in stool.
      Now try to comprehend what is more indigestible.

    1) don’t use fridge
    2) always eat freshly cooked food
    3) eating pressure cooked food is harmful for body
    If you notice all these claims, it’s a nice convenient way to keep our women folks restricted only in kitchen and prevent them from using all the modern food and kitchen conveniences. Men who believe such nonsense for most part wouldn’t be the ones doing the cooking at home. We Indians instead of looking forward to future, we prefer to delude ourselves with false past glory.

    I saw a white woman on Instagram say that you shouldn’t eat refrigerated food bc it has no “prana” and she’s a trained Ayurvedic and we should take her course on health and wellness. Fear mongering plus a side of cultural appropriation (and I’m not one to use that term, like ever, but this was a great example 😂😩)
