Hi friend, I also tried to follow your method to find the correct focal lenght. I have the same NEJE 30W machine with air assist, but I can't cut any plywood (3 and 6mm) ! Do you have any suggestions ?

Hello Gino Laurita, thank you for your comment.
If the machine is correctly focused (maintaining a constant power) it should be all matter of a number of passes and axis' speed.
Try lowering down the speed of the axis, or cranking up the burning time if you are using the Neje Desktop Application.
Perhaps, it may be a power problem. Are you able to cut anything else?
You might need to re-install the firmware.
      Let me know.
      Ciao

@@MiddleRoomWorkshop Hi, Firmware is updated. My setup: focus on surface, speed 50, power 100%, more than 7 passes and air assist.
Cut is only 1mm deep !!!
Somebody tell me to set speed on 5mm/sec and same power for minimum and maximum. I have to find where can I change this.

Hello Gino Laurita, thank you for your comment.
Please let me understand, are you using the NEJE Application?
In that app you can vary what is called burning time which is the revers of speed, therefore you need to have higher burning time like 30ms for wood.
If you are using other software that enable you to adjust the actual speed, than you need to lower down that speed like 150mm/min (which equals to 2.5mm/sec) and with the right focus you should e able to go through 2mm of plywood in a single pass.
Note, with the 30W module and the focus nub screwed all in I need to position the module to a height of 39mm to 41mm max.
Let me know if you get any result.
      Ciao

Para esos espesores lo mejor es el Co2. Con diodo el mdf de 3mm lo corta al maximo de potencia y no mas de 5 mm/s de velocidad, para hacer grabados mejor el diodo que Co2

Hi i have neje master 2s 30w.I really tried everything but my laser is cutting a 2.5 mm plywood after 35 passes with 100% power and the lowest speed.

Hello Soteris T, thank you for your comment and compliment.
Taking to the opportunity to wish you Merry Christmas.
I am sorry to hear that; with my module (before it died), I could go a bit over 6mm in 5 passes at 100% and 50ms burning time.
Have you tried with different software? Paraphs Neje Software is not providing the correct setting to the machine.
Also, do you use Air Assist? If not, try putting a small blower or fan to blow across the cutting area, this will ensure that 100% of the power reaches the material and the light is not absorbed or refracted/diffracted by the smoke produced during a cut.
      Let me know.

What is that mat under your work piece

    • @MiddleRoomWorkshop

Hi, Ashes12962; thank you for your comment.
In this video, I am using a cutting mat, but it is not a suitable material to use for laser cutting. I used it because it got damaged during testing, and I decided to waste it, but it smells and smokes badly while burning.
You should go for a honeycomb or better nail sheet if you want something to laser cut.
      Below are some helpful links

The Extension "Laseringrave" isn´t in the newest InkScape I downloaded. There can I find it ?

    • @MiddleRoomWorkshop
      @MiddleRoomWorkshop  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hi, Steen Mikkelsen; thank you for your comment.
Unfortunately, these plugins are not as many updates as Inkscape does.
I was already reported by other viewers that they are either missing or not behaving correctly.
I will try to check if there is anything new and paste the new link in the description.
In the meantime, if you are using LaserGRBL, you can import .svg directly into it without the hassle of converting your design into a gcode format.

I've only ever seen the ramp tests. What can you adjust the lens for? does that make sense? so far no youtuber has done that..
    asking for neje a40640

    • @MiddleRoomWorkshop
      @MiddleRoomWorkshop  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hi, MiuiX; thank you for your comment.
The lens is used to adjust the focal length, i.e., how far the focus is from the lens.
Because of this, the convergence angle is smaller, making the hot region of the beam longer (taller), allowing for deeper cuts.
In the A40640, I unscrewed the lens a few turns, and I kept it like so since I got it.
The difference in the thickness is not much, but sometimes it makes the difference between a clean cut and a frustrating partial cut.
I had a video scheduled for it. Stay tuned for that.
