    That was hilarious. The front should settle out some more with the cut factory spring. I'm not a huge fan of the CC501s in the rear. They are about a half inch too much IMO. I think we are going to try the UPR weld on adjusters with a 10" coil next. Keep up the bad ass project!

    I got the adjustable ride techs with 650lb front coils. Expensive but it will be easy to fine tune ride height at any time. RideTechs are super light compared to factory coil over which reduces unsprung weight. I’m a ticketed retired mechanic and I wish I lived closer. I could SAFELY and properly do this job for you and you could show me how to work a laptop computer. Cheers boys and stay safe.

    So I did ....
    07 gt500 rear springs ...35.00 eBay
    Cut 1.5 coils from the front springs
    Mathed the spring rates out , they are perfect.
    Lowered my Vic 2 inches and improved the ride.
    Total spent ...40.00 dollars.
    Another way to go and when I redo my suspension, make drop brackets that weld to the lower control arms. It will also improve the upper a arms camber angle during turns.

    • @neilbrown82
      @neilbrown82 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Outcast autoworks already makes drop brackets for the front control arms for the struts for thirty bucks

    • @SnakePliscan
      @SnakePliscan ปีที่แล้ว

      Dont see how lowering the strut pivot will change the (improve) upper A arm geometry and camber angle as opposed to cutting the spring , your statement there makes no sense whatsoever ????

    • @robsorgdrager8477
      @robsorgdrager8477 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@SnakePliscan cutting the spring will help more because it raises the spring rate as well as lower the center of gravity. When you lower ride hight in the front or any SLA ( short over long arm ) suspension you will change the angle of the upper arm. At stock ride hight the arm sits at a downward angle and only comes into a perpendicular state under hard cornering and nose dive braking situations. By lowering the front you now bring the arm closer to making a 90° angle with the knuckle at the ball joint. This keeps the knuckle from cambering in TOO FAR . Negative camber is good for handling but when it goes too negative you will loose contact patch. Raising the spring rate also helps fight off deflection . The sway bars can be tuned as well. What I did was use threaded rod, a 3 inch turn buckle and jam nuts and heim ends to make sway links. You can also drop ride hight with custom tabs that weld into the lower arms making the strut mount lower, think drop knuckle. Being that I swapped rear springs to a higher rate I wanted to balance the handling so I cut 1.5-1.7 coils from the front with a cutoff wheel. Honestly with the p71 struts and shocks the chassis was almost telepathic. I knew exactly when the rear would step out, I removed most of the understeer and the turn in was crisp. Gone was the " float " over 125 mph and the car was rock solid in corners and I could command the rear to slide simply with a touch of brake input or throttle. I have yet to get my charger pursuit to handle as well. The Vic got stolen two years ago late Sept ..shortly after this post.

    • @SnakePliscan
      @SnakePliscan ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@robsorgdrager8477 Im thinking you must hav had a older Vic cause mine (06) has aluminum lowers (no welding happenin there) and my uppers sit near level at stock ride height , also sway bar links are 1/2 integrated into the knuckle . Soooo any lowering near immediately cranks in negative camber and requires pulling in the lowers to compensate.
      Yeah i would agree rear spring rate needs to be way higher (or big fat sway bar) to relieve the Vic's nasty push.
      The aftermarket camber bolts and frame slotting people are doing is for when people do extreme drops (3+ inchs) i guess.

    If you loosen up the nuts on all of your front bushings and then tighten them with the weight of the car on them, you might get another half inch to maybe a full inch lower just because you’re relieving the torsion of those bushings.

    • @SnakePliscan
      @SnakePliscan ปีที่แล้ว

      That sounds like readjusting slope and compliance , if your getting an inch of drop that way it suspension rebuild time !
