That's a wild airflow! I watch a lot woodworking videos and most woodshop owners install Oneida Dust Deputy cyclone to these with separate drum where the cyclone sits on. Reason for that is that they suck up tons of fine to medium material and cyclone (need to be good one) prevents 99% of dust going to the shop vac. Even those HUGE bags would fill up in their use very quickly. But like you know there is penalty to pay using cyclone. Airflow loss. I believe penalty was something like 30 cfm. TH-cam is full of all kind of wild cyclone modifications to shop vacs😂😂

I used the WD1450 for years with Ridgids "Carpet and Floor Tool" which helps it be useable on carpet (you probably saw the videos) and it is a great option if you have to vacuum carpet full of debris that would destroy traditional carpet vacuum cleaners. They also make "turbo-style" floor nozzles that will fit on these and though you use some airflow to run the turbine brushes these have a "plethora of airflow" or some "air to spare" so you could get a fairly decent job from one. The price can climb rather quickly and it is a nightmare of a "cannister vac" what with the cannister being the size of a dorm-room fridge but you can do it. And Ridgid used to sell a TWENTY-FOOT hose for these for about $20 (old prices) so you could maybe get some distance for stairs and "duct cleaning". With the airflow you get some options which are nice but there are limitations as with everything. Shared in Vacuum Lover's Lounge where the mocking can commence...

I put a TurboCat (TP-210) on mine and the machine with the airflow spins it incredibly fast with a 2 1/2" hose and a reducer cone (part of the eavestrough cleaning kit). Who says you need lots of suction to run a turbine powerhead? It seems mediocre suction with 200+ CFM running in a large diameter tube works just fine.

@@WJCTechyman I often wondered how a Turbocat would run on these but never tried it so this is good to hear. You should consider making a video and uploading it so more people will be aware of this "mod". I retired so I don't mess with any of this anymore but I still have my original WD1450 and all the other tools too so they definitely last a long time.

That's nice work. I have a couple of shop vacs, myself, and there's only so much you can do about getting them clean. One of mine is a 12-gallon with a plastic tank and the other is a 12-gallon with a metal tank. I mostly use the metal one for dry pickup and the other one for everything else. I had a time finding a caster foot for the one with a plastic tank because, as far as I know, they don't make too many repair parts for them anymore.

I’ve been in a construction class, and I’ve used a shop vac with a similar filter to this rigid I cleaned it out by blowing it off. It felt like I created a dust storm 😂

This thing is stronger than a Hurricane category 5 😮

Well my guess was somewhat right. I have probably about 5 of these now with the biggest one being the 16 gallon with the Handel and big wheels, I have to say I love how powerful, durable and versatile these are you can do all kinds of stuff with these. Also I have to ask when you measured the wands you hooked up the tubs straight animonitor,
Do you consider that method accurate results? The reason I’m asking is because I did that in the past and you said I should use a cone or airflow box for the shop vac hose measurements to be more accurate.

Yes, very accurate. Did you hear me say the GM8901 made a perfect fit at the wand end? That's why it's accurate.
And the 846 was a perfect fit for the main inlet.
Cones are only needed if the fit isn't exact.

The motor sounds the same as my Ridgid wet and dry and it’s rated 9 A at 120 V. I haven’t measured current on it yet, that’s just the rating embossed on the unit. For fun I put it in line with my Kirby to see if that’s feasible. It is but you need two circuits to run it like a tandem air system.

Have you ever tested a Dustless Technologies HEPA Wet Dry Vac?

crazy to me the amount of people that run these without bags. Just sounds like a huge mess to me.
