BEST VACUUM FOR AUTO DETAILING?! (A new contender!)

- It's pretty much a consensus in the auto detailing world that the 4-gallon Ridgid vacuum is the Gold Standard: priced right, built to last, and DAMN good at what it needs to do. Suck up dirt! But I wanted more power -- something newer to give me muscle on interior clean ups. I meandered through Home Depot and found this bad boy: a 16-gallon vacuum with an attached leaf blower. Say whaaaa?! Here's my review:)

*Always used shop vacs at work **MyBest.Tools** such but ended up with a glass patio table blown😎😭 over by the wind. While the shop vac brand gnerally speaks for itself, the metal container is a nice touch and Amazon Prime was a breeze.🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂*
I was seriously looking into an air compressor mostly because I wanted to use a tornador, but discovered you need way to large a compressor for a mobile guy. So its really nice to see this alternative!
Actually so glad I just saw this before I bought a different vacuum, I'm starting mobile very soon and this looks like it defeats having an air compressor! Thanks!
It's a good start:) I still love compressed air though
The leaf blower for interior blowouts seems like a great idea! Compared to air, you don't lose pressure
yeah I really like it when I need to be FAST and do a few vehicles in a row or when it's too cold for the compressor. I should probably test more vacs but I was so happy with ridgid I didn't see a reason to wander
I was just thinking of getting a bigger ridgid (more powerful) So the timing of this video is hilarious!
Yeah it's been rock solid so far!
The 6.5 HP vac that doesn’t have the blower, flows a good bit more CFM (If you don’t need the blower function). I have it with a 50ft CoxReel hard mounted in my trailer.
Awesome video. I like the 2 in 1 combo you get with that vacuum. Is the blower function good enough to dry vehicles with? Also the wheels, if you do decide to change them out send an update. Also love my handibrush!!!👍🏾
That's great to hear! Yeah I really like the blower - I used to have a battery powered leaf blower and it was such a pain to need to re charge the expensive battery for every 15 minutes used. I'm really liking the suction of the vacuum too. Lots of good options out there! This one has way more space than I need and it's a bit big- but not a huge deal
Hey Nick! Thanks for the vacuum review. As for the blower, what do you think for using it for a dryer after washing? Does it push enough air or would an actual dryer/leaf blower be better? Trying to avoid more gear if not necessary.
I use it to blow cars dry (ish) and it works just fine! I also like to blow out cars with it. so far no complaints:)
Have you used the blower feature of your smaller Ridgid vacuum too?
Like your sty, subscribed.
The top of mine i have the exact same one it gets hot the top vac/blower/ motor that puppy gets hot, just wondering if its normal?
So the blower stay on while vacuuming?
dem boots n socks lol 😂
awesome video, i just subscribed ...i'm looking to get a pressure washer for washing my personal vehicle, but i don't wanna have to spend hundreds just yet , what would you rec. , i'll be using the MTM SGS sprayer, mosmatic wand, MTM cannon along with a Kobrajet hose.
oh man...I'm definitely NOT the guy who has spec'ed out all of the pressure washers and parts. I think chromatic detailing has some some vids about pressure washers. you could also post to a detailing forum and see what the masses recommend
Perfect option for anyone
Do you have to use bags with that model or does it just fill up in the drum? Thks for the review!
No bags:)
Isn't ridgid lifetime warranty? Why not just swap the old out for a replacement vs fixing the plug over and over?
do you need to purchase the car detailing kit with this, or can you detail with out those accessories?
All you need is a vacuum but the leaf blower is really nice
Im worries when you use it as a blower would it blow dust from being dirty from using the same blower that is sucking up dirt and junk???
Yeah I was wondering this too.
Hey bro, you don't know anywhere that would deliver a rigid or vacmaster vacuum to Ireland would you?
I wish my brother! What brands do y'all have over there
@@HawkProDetailing Not the best, anything on eBay comes from abroad and anything locally is 400+
Very interested! So replace air compressor? So will this be equal to a tornado for inside carpets blowouts? Can you attach the vacuum hose to end of the powerhead?
Hey Andrew! I still love my compressor for its nimble ability to get in tiny nooks and crannies...but this does a damn good job. Just a little clunkier for interior work is all. Great for blowing off rubber floor mats too. You can connect the vacuum cord to the blower too. But the smaller attachment to blower seems to give more blowing power. Probably the longer the cord the weaker the suction/ blowing power
Home Depot sells a 4 gallon online with the same attachment and features. I have one and I love it.
These vacuums run forever I have same one and been using for last 8years nonstop
nice! how is the suction?
@@HawkProDetailing very strong
love the features of this but its too big...i saw home depot have a 4 gallon with 6 peak HP version and bought it for $80
nice! Yeah I thought it would be too big, but I've loved the leaf blower and powerful vacuum...I take it to mobile jobs and so far...no regrets:)
Kei, did you end up getting the 4 gallon one? If so, how is it? How’s the 6 HP motor working for you? It should be the same motor as the one in this video right?
how can i get ink/dye from leather seats
What have you tried?
@@HawkProDetailing just interior cleaner was about to try brake cleaner
@@HawkProDetailing oh and rubbing alcohol
@@vmonroig21 I would try super clean and a microfiber towel at 10 parts water one part super clean in a bottle. spray onto towel and agitate area. if that won't budge, you can gradually increase the ratio of super clean to water in your mixture to see if a stronger solution yields results. Next, I would try a magic eraser, sprayed down with super clean (10:1 dilution should be fine), and agitate the area LIGHTLY! You will be removing the coating on the leather as you do this so be very careful and don't try to be a hero. IMPROVE not REMOVE should be the goal with a magic eraser in your hand as you detail an interior
@@HawkProDetailing will do thanks for the reply
That vac blows!
hee hee
Thanks for sharing. You sold me on this vac. Multifunctional equipment is invaluable.
Do the nozzles scratch leather interior? Read reviews you have to sand down the nozzles tipa
You can sand or just use common sense and care:)
@@HawkProDetailing whats common sense and care? Just want to make sure it doesn't scratch up my leather
@@HKX_ORANGECHICKEN Means don't go forcing it into the seat, just glide it along.
Yes it is i have one it was $128
you liking it?
Yes its really strong vacuum
I feel the same way! it's a beast
Ey man I would like to send you some pictures of vehicles that i have washed and i wanted to know you’re opinion on how they look
I just bought one, the price dropped to $99 at home depot.
Who here in 2022
me LOL
@@HawkProDetailing this channel is such a gem bro
Or the leaf blower is a leaf blower not an air compressor...
2022 im here
Published nearly 3 years ago to the day 😂
Best detailing vac: 8 gallon stanley @ Walmart!
That a thrash
Way to big for mobile detailing. Just saying
yeah but if I leave my giant air compressor at home...then it evens out:)
That’s the dumbest use of a leaf blower I’ve ever seen. Just blowing crap around instead of removing it with a vacuum and the focused air flow of a compressor when needed.
you would be surprised. I use the leaf blower on mobile jobs to blow cars dry after exterior washes, I use it on wet, rubber floor mats after cleaning them....and even interiors that need a good facelift can benefit from air getting into tight spots and giving your actual vacuum a fighting chance....
Probably the dumbest comment on here too
