Just a tip from a professional carpet and upholstery cleaner. Buy an internal jet upholstery tool. The external jet tool causes over wetting and you’ll get a lot of over spray. Where as with an internal jet all the water is enclosed inside the hand tool. Great video though man
Just to enhance the information you are providing Josh, what you are looking for when choosing a vac for extraction is the Water Lift spec - this is measured in Inches, the higher the value, the better results you will get when pulling from the surface whether smooth or carpet. CFMs are important, but in relation to the motors actual pulling power - focus on water lift. Hope this helps anyone out.
cfm and water lift do different things, cmf is basically how the vacuum allows your tool to grab the carpet/upholstery ,then the lift is the actual sucking up the water.
yes, Advance is good, WAP/Alto works well. Stick with machines that have multi stage motors with bypass function. do not go with direct horsepower spec brands like rigid, shop vac etc.
@@Mainbusfail i was trying to make it simple. its totally different. i have had a extractor with 182 inches of lift and one with the same lift but 240 cfm. one is capable of about 15 feet of hose and one at about 200 feet. cfm allows the head of the tool pull/lock on/grab on fibers or fabric, then lift comes into play.
Dude I seriously just bought the kit with the 50ft hose today, mainly to clean a dirty sofa and eventually with the cars, thanks for sharing a really good video...
Appreciate you mentioning the part of caring the proper filter I’ve been watching a lot of videos because I’ve been looking to get into the business and haven’t seen anyone be as detailed with tools on how to use and how to properly assemble for best use appreciate it 1000% keep up the videos
You can also comnect the waterline to your pressure washer via quick connect. Leave pressure washer off of course but use the running water from there. Just switch to pressure washer from there or vice versa
Tbh I just got a green scrub thing. A shop vac and two liters of water with laundry soap/bleach/dishsoap. And I soaked the interior and scrubbed then vacuumed it. It is like I used a steam cleaner. Perfectly clean no stain seats. I carefully filled the cup holders with water and scrubbed then sucked it up with the vaccum. Pretty impressed.
You forget one thing Josh! Get yourself a portable hot water tank connect it to the water in then connect that extractor solution hose to the portable hot water tank and Boom 💥 hot water.... I've been doing that for years gave that a try man!!!!

What connector did you use from wet vac hose to the full size carpet wand? Did you get the kit he’s talking about? Does that connector fit on a full size wand?
Same, I thought it needed something more, and I also assumed that solution is injected and not just water. Now if I could make this a steam not just water, that would be great. Thanks @imjoshtv!
Hey Josh love the videos man have really made me more comfortable with the stuff I’m doing, I’m getting ready to order the ripclean extractor kit. I’ve always just did basic detailing but now I think I’m going to start expanding my options and see where it goes
Thanks for this. I'd use this for home carpet spot cleaning. FYI Suggestion: For your tank set-up you mentioned, and having not much pressure/flow. Perhaps try to parasite some of the shop vac exhaust air with hose. Run this into the top/lid of your tank. You'll want to play with air flow and/or some sort of vent on the tank so you don't have excess pressure build up and blow up your tank. Maybe a petcock pressure valve that vents at an appropriate psi. Or look into an rv water line pressure tank. They likely have a built in pressure release.
Thank you for this video. This the option for me. I’m a beginner not a professional. Excellent mod imo. If you already have a shop vac this to me seems the most cost effective option over paying up to $200 for a separate portable extractor with less suction.
Hey Josh, kudos my detailing brother. 1/15/22 Home depot is running a web special on their 6 h.p. vacuum's and they are tossing in a car detail kit. i.e. hose crevice tool ect. Another thought on the water hook up, put an in line valve with a hose bib on the HOT side coming from your water heater...Bingo. If you have a sink in your garage or the hot water heater is parked in the back corner something real easy to pull off. Thanks again for the primo content
For twenty dollars you can get a windshield wiper sprayer kit. It comes with a 1gal water tank with and electric pump built in they come with 10 feet or more rubber water hose made for use with chemicals and it comes with sprayer tips.
Back in the day when I was cleaning carpets, I had an adapter that would connect to the kitchen sink, and use hot water, man that would clean anything.
Just the video I was waiting for. I built out the extractor system with the Mytee head and I'm waiting for the rip extractor to come next week. Great video !!
Thank you for your posts. Just one thing I think the water coupler need a rubber protector or shrink round the melt coupler. Just an idea so you that way you would not scratch interior parts
So dam cool and great way for detailers on a budget or just starting out in fact it may be more comfortable for some I love it man!! Great stuff, I will be building me one !!!
Thanks for sharing this! I just might have to get one. Since most water heaters may be in the garage and have a hose connection, that could be a possibility for a hot water source. May need to turn the temperature down on the water heater though.
I was thinking the same thing however I would probably figure out some sort of prefilter because of the sediment that collects at the bottom of water heaters. If it were me...I would tap in to the line on the top of the water heater and this would eliminate the sediment issue...you also would want to make sure the rating on the hose could handle the heat because coming straight off the water heater is going to be much hotter than say at your kitchen sink due to the thermal loss from the distance of the faucet to the heater.
Hi Josh. Great video and thanks for all of the research and info that you've shared. Question...I mistakenly left my passenger rear windows partially down and it rained. As a result, part of my back seat and the back of my passenger seat got wet. Should I extract the water or let it air dry? Please advise.
Back in the day we would use the short pressure washing wand with a lower pressure nozzle. Point the nozzle toward the shop vac hose and basically pressure wash the dirt into the vacuum. 🤣😂🤣 if you were good with the angle it wouldn't soak the carpet or seat and would dry in a couple hours.
Josh, FYI, the kit is no longer available on Amazon and only directly on their website. That’s fine but just thought you should know. Current price for the 25 foot water hose is $225. As you stated, what a great deal. Ordered mine today.
That's a really good idea .looks like that kit is great . I been thinking about purchasing aqua pro vac. But I will most def check that out . Thanks for great information an tips
Love this conversion…I have a possible upgrade option. What if you added a mini tankless water heater to the water system (like the ones under sinks). Amazon has one for$100 1500 watt. Would be a nice option if someone has a generator with power capability.

not really, cfm is volume of air based on area of suction squared to radius of the hose diameter. tool grab isn't even a term used in the real world.

Heated Water - Attaching the water supply to a utility sink faucet (for example) would allow you to use HOT water from the tap.
as a regular everyday Joe, would this work better than pet spot cleaner on carpet?
Looks like a great product!! I’m definitely looking at getting one of these
What is the minimum horse power vacuum needed for this to work
What wet/dry vac would pair best with the Ripclean? Most suction, but still compact.

If you use it at your home then you can get a garden hose adapter for a kitchen faucet and then use warm water.

How does this compare to the actual unit you use for business?
