it depends, I think the Nissan is the better one, but the supra is better in everyway besides being a BMW. There is more overhead in the supra, for anyone who is interested in modifying. Most importantly is that the engine is very good for tuning. The block can handle 600hp with the stock turbo just fine and could go past 1000hp with better parts. I had an old Elantra years ago with a beta 2 swap and bolt ons and it grinded into 2nd every time. 210k miles on that transmission when I cooked that engine and the grinding never got worse over all those miles. But it’s still disconcerting, if they had to beef up the 1st and 2nd synchros in that “old”transmission to handle the extra torque, it’s gonna mean short transmission life for those who look to the aftermarket for more power.
I'm seriously loving the honesty in this review and that you listed the negatives of the car first instead of just hyping it like everyone else. New subscriber! Btw ppl have been saying the fuel cuts off during turns because of a poorly designed fuel pump not the actual traction control.
What is it with Nissan Z's and their transmissions? They were grinding 1st to 2nd gear shifts 40 years ago and they still have not sorted that out in 2023?
There's something about this video...where my WIFI went slightly slow for a few moments, where there was the interior shots of you guys driving that it looked like it was filmed 10-15years ago....Kinda matches this Z... Funny, but amazing video, loved the filming
@@harrye.512 car was revealed over a year ago. Why the hell would Nissan give journalists a car that has an issue? It’s not like it magically teleports from one review to the next without someone from Nissan handling it
I’m baffled by how much love this car is getting especially for the engine. I have a 2017 Q60 RedSport and I think it looks way better and has a better interior and the same drivetrain, exhaust, etc. I mean I love that the Z is back and it looks good and I hope they sell well. But i think the RedSport needs more love. Althooooough I’m sort of glad they don’t get more love cuz people always trip on my car cuz you never see them.
And that Q60 handles way worse and is significantly slower and costs more.. In 2017 it was good but quickly because worse then competitors. The Q60/50 red sport has an outdated interior so it doesn't look as good as competition, outdated features(like wireless connectivity), worse performance, and worse handling, and has a much inferior automatic transmission vs competition (it's very old, and slower) and is overpriced that's why it gets slept on. The 49k m240i smokes the q60 red sport, m340i also dogs on it completely, Kia stinger also beats it speed wise and is more practical with a more updated interior (hence it gets better reviews and always wins over the q60/50 in comparison tests), same goes for Audi's competition. Mercedes, not so much they're too bent on using 4 cylinders.
Yuri doesn't look like himself without his glasses.. but thats probably just me 😂😂 Anyways.. Love the new Nissan Z. I would appreciate it if you guys do the '23 Kia Telluride X Pro vs '23 Nissan Pathfinder Rock Creek comparison review. Also.. Its kinda weird that they dont let you do burnouts, drifting or even off traction. I think its because they realize they installed wrong tires
The telluride is way better 5hen the Nissan Pathfinder mate. The Nissan Pathfinder is not at the top of itself category per any reviewer, motor trend, car and driver, they all rate it lower. Nissans products are generally under, their new sentra is well priced though, it almost won mototrend car of the year
I choose the Z. Even tho the Supra is a bit faster, the Z is still hella fast. I won’t be driving the car at a race track, so I don’t care about track performance, it looks better in my opinion, the ride seems to be more comfortable than Supra, I like the Z’s interior better than the Supra’s (although the Supra’s interior materials are more refined -BMW after all-). It’s reliable as well. And it’s a bit cheaper. If I want a fast car with a lot of tuning potential, I’d just buy an used GTR, and would make a monster out of it.
To be fair, the F-Type is a Jaguar so it has the same chance to be a classic as the XKR or any other Jaguar. The Nissan Z cars have never been particularly exotic or special, and have usually been fairly close to their Skyline or Infiniti underpinnings AFAIK. Even so, the 240Z, 280Z and so on (Z30 series) are classic cars now. Less so, the 1980's Z31 but I think they are getting to classic car status too. :)
5:05 oh man! after looking at that old 2000's 300Z I will definitely look for a used one exactly same color as the one you showed here, it is amazing! I forgot how cool they look
What I learned from this video: Yuri got a 350z, he likes to drift said Z, the 350z is the best Z car, it's cool, it can drift, and sounds good. They also had a yellow car that they were driving while talking about Yuri's 350z; I guess the exhaust was too loud in his 350z and messed with the audio for talking?
Problem is the supra is the smarter buy. Lower by 1.5 inches it's night and day difference in cornering and straight line speeds past 120 mph trust me. Next step is a bore up and twin HKS turbos.
It took me a little time to warm up to the Supra, but the manual Supra, to me at least, it light years ahead of this in style. The only real complaint I ever heard about the Supra, other then no manual until now, was the wind buffeting issue, and of course its a BMW. But if I am going to spend the money, I would stretch a little more and definitely go Supra over this. I would also be concerned with the fact Nissan has struggled mightily in resent years and be concerned with corners being cut. The fact that more than one reviewer has now mentioned the issues with grinding in second gear is a major concern in my eyes
I think it's a missed opportunity with Nissan forbidding any 'enthusiastic' driving for the review. It's free R&D for components/reliability, exposing weak points, if any. But overall, happy with their efforts into this Z.
I had a 2006 350, the transmission was exactly the same in that you had to manhandle the stick into second and other gears (but it didn’t grind). I actually always loved that about it. It’s not a forgiving transmission and that’s what made it engaging.
The front end stock is a deal breaker. It's awful. It makes a huge difference with the bar going across. The Z seems to be way overpriced. For the upper trims you can get a 3.0 Supra. The Supra is faster, looks better and is a BMW (controversial, but for the same money, I'll take a BMW over a Nissan).
Loved the simple look of the 350 and i had 2 of them. The 370z I thought looked good but not as good as the 350. But this new z I think looks ugly from every possible angle

Everyone asked for a manual transmission and they got it. It is slower and the transmission is terrible according to EVERY reviewer. I just looked and the lowest price listed in the states is $75k. This engine has been around for 6+ years in the INFINITI vehicles. It is actually a decent engine with good mods available but it isn’t anywhere close to what BMW or even Toyota offers. This car sounds great on paper but it is marked up to ridiculous prices and it just isn’t a great car at those prices.
IMO, it’s unwise for Nissan Not allowing you guys do donuts or bring the z to the track. It gives me a feeling that they are not confident at their products when it comes to a more aggressive driving.
I've owned a 350z for 9 years, and I love it. But I'm not sold yet on getting the new Z, given the price of the Performance trim. Thinking I might as well pay up for a Corvette Z51 if the Z Performance goes for ~$50K. Especially since I'd have to pay another $1K to put Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires on the Z (they're standard on the Z51).
I like the rear and sides of this car but man, I cannot get myself to like the look of the front end. Otherwise, I would seriously consider getting one of these for weekend fun.
So far the consensus are, If you wanna chase numbers, get Zupra. if you want better driving feels, get Fairlady-Z Nissan already have number chasers with GT-R. So with Z, they intentionally focuses on driving feels instead. Or per Nissan words, GT-R is Gundam, machine that will help you to reach high numbers. Fairlady-Z is a dance partner when you want to dance around the canyons or tracks.
Enjoyed the video. To be honest i am not crazy about the looks. Do prefer the look of the front end on the Fiarlady you showed in this video. But the overall car seems to be lacking somehow. Just my opinion which of course only matters to me. Keep up the great content.
Really like that split grill on the Fairlady version. If it came with that, I think I'd like it more than the Supra, but then if the Supra had a better nose, I'd like it more too.

Yes it's horrible, hence buy the supra
@@roboticvenom1935 i cant live with the insanely horrible visibility of the supra or else i would.
Welcome to the channel
yuri's photoshop is ON POINT! ❤🔥
Thanks :-)
What is it with Nissan Z's and their transmissions? They were grinding 1st to 2nd gear shifts 40 years ago and they still have not sorted that out in 2023?
Kinda feel like they could have done a better job on the headlights, the old car has a better front end.
I clicked the like button before watching the video just because of this intro i love you guys keep moving forward
Been waiting for the Z review! Such a sick car 🔥🔥
Samsung galaxy Z fold and flip 💚
There's something about this video...where my WIFI went slightly slow for a few moments, where there was the interior shots of you guys driving that it looked like it was filmed 10-15years ago....Kinda matches this Z...
Funny, but amazing video, loved the filming
Man they should have rounded them front lights or set them in some. Something. I love the tail end though.
i really wanna believe that 2nd gear grind is only from this specific press car; cuz TH also had the same exact car and same issues
They had a different car. We both drove them at the same time
I can't say I'm surprised by the infotainment lag you guys mentioned on the backup camera. The Q50/60 has had that problem since they released
Man there seems to be quite a bit off with this car. I don’t understand how anyone can spend money on this with the transmission issue
One issue with the transmission in a car that has been utterly flogged by every journalist. Hardly a lot off.
@@harrye.512 car was revealed over a year ago. Why the hell would Nissan give journalists a car that has an issue? It’s not like it magically teleports from one review to the next without someone from Nissan handling it
OMG I have been waiting for this one! WOOT! Excited for the NisMO for sure! Great video Yuri and Jakub!!
No manual though, right? That alone makes it worth picking up the Z
As an Infiniti, it should have a better interior, exhaust, and a more comfy suspension though... right? It's a luxury sports car.
@@slow_bike_show the new supra has a manual and is undoubtedly the superior vehicle, buy that
@@roboticvenom1935 oh man if I had the dough...🤣 the supra is drop dead gorgeous.
Dig how you dudes geek out like best buds about cars. Glad you found each other. lol
Yuri doesn't look like himself without his glasses.. but thats probably just me 😂😂
Anyways..
もしグリルが気に入らなかったとしても、アフターマーケットでカスタム品は絶対出てくるから、それ以外が好みなら買いだな
It looks SO GOOD. I love the styling nod to the 80s. If only I were wealthy enough to afford a mid-life crisis car, this would be on my list.
It sounds like my 16 year-old Kirby from the outside... 🤣
I'm going to guess there will be dealer-installed exhaust packages at some point.
Supra >
That call from "Nissan Canada" with Carlos Ghosn as the contact photo ... HA!
To answer the question in the thumbnail…NO. It’s a glossed up 350z. The 1st gen F Type has a greater chance of being a classic.
changed up 370, actually.
@@bjornironsides6474 which is just an updated 350z
Maybe I'm part of a small subset, but if you could post your videos in ultrawide 21:9... *Chef's kiss*
But we don’t film anamorphic so it would be fake
350z still one of my favorite cars, but this with the 240z-esque bumper you showed looks awesome!
5:05 oh man! after looking at that old 2000's 300Z I will definitely look for a used one exactly same color as the one you showed here, it is amazing! I forgot how cool they look
Wow now the thumbnail look like the old original Nissan Z
I love the Photoshop montage, it always cracks me up
What I learned from this video: Yuri got a 350z, he likes to drift said Z, the 350z is the best Z car, it's cool, it can drift, and sounds good. They also had a yellow car that they were driving while talking about Yuri's 350z; I guess the exhaust was too loud in his 350z and messed with the audio for talking?
Hello - Jakub
4:25 I laughed seeing Carlos Ghosn's picture🤣
I really think Nissan did a great job on this one. Would love to own this with the manual one day.
Problem is the supra is the smarter buy. Significantly better engine, way more tuning potential, way better automatic transmission (and likely superior manual trans), lighter, better platform, better handling, better brakes, no horrible fuel cutoff at the track or spirited driving when tank is 50% or below, better built interior, etc. All for similar money
If you get the base model Z which is significantly cheaper you get ass brakes, open diff(WTF), super Spartan interior, the exhaust sound is even worse, and speakers are ass
@@roboticvenom1935 all right man everybody knows you like the supra better you can give it up now!!👍😎🇨🇦
@@roboticvenom1935 Points taken, and you're mostly right. I do like the Supra, and Toyota's in general -- but it's a BMW,....I'll pass.
@@billyhughes9776 I wouldn't pass on a vehicle just because it's a BMW! I've owned all sorts of cars. BMW has some of the most praise right now of any OEM for good driving cars full stop
From the M2 to the M5
Literally subscribed because of that photoshop feature you guys did!
A black one would look great to mask that massive grille
Lower by 1.5 inches it's night and day difference in cornering and straight line speeds past 120 mph trust me. Next step is a bore up and twin HKS turbos.
fatherhood has been good to Yuri. swear he's aging backwards now 🤔
Could just be the glasses, but yeah.
I really didn’t like this car when i first saw it, but for some reason its grown on me. It looks like an artist rendition of a futuristic 300zx
You guys had a perfect opportunity to do grand tour burnout drawing with that drone view 😂
If ANY synchros have issues, it's the fluid. Change the fluid to Motorcraft XT-M5-QS
I somehow still prefer the looks of the 370z
The 370z Nismo is one of the best looking modern Zs for sure. I like it better than this redesign.
I had a 2006 350, the transmission was exactly the same in that you had to manhandle the stick into second and other gears (but it didn’t grind). I actually always loved that about it. It’s not a forgiving transmission and that’s what made it engaging.
I like this car but from the front it looks like something from Roblox lol
I finally saw one for the first time on the road , same color. In love with it!
The square grill is kinda underwhelming
@@IRaoulDuke Agreed. Retro is not an excuse for lazy design.
A great golden video with you two together, doing your best stuff.
Loved the simple look of the 350 and i had 2 of them. The 370z I thought looked good but not as good as the 350. But this new z I think looks ugly from every possible angle
You prefer the look of the 350 over the 370? AND you don't even like the profile or rear of the new Z?
I know it's all totally subjective but dude...your taste is weird. Objectively 😛
@@tizodd6 I like the simple design of the 350. The 370 had these sharp lines and head and tail lights were ugly
@@dennylafoss It's cool. I'm really just messing with you dude. I know we all have different tastes.
But serious question though: You don't even think the new Z looks nice from the side? I'm not a fan of the front grille or headlights, but I love that profile.
@@tizodd6 I think the only good view is the one from directly behind it. I think that chrome piece under the roof ruins the entire side view of the car.
@@dennylafoss then black it out silly. 350z looks like shit in comparison, especially the rear end.. 99% of people would go, "oh that 350z car looks way worse on the rear end," it was never known for being a very attractive car full stop
FINALLY. ive been waiting for this video for what seems like ages... such a cool car.
THANK YOU so much including the metric system convertions👍
Throttle House complained about the second gear grinding too, hopefully it’s just that press car and not a systemic issue
We drove different cars at the same time
So far the consensus are,
If you wanna chase numbers, get Zupra.
if you want better driving feels, get Fairlady-Z
Nissan already have number chasers with GT-R. So with Z, they intentionally focuses on driving feels instead.
Or per Nissan words, GT-R is Gundam, machine that will help you to reach high numbers. Fairlady-Z is a dance partner when you want to dance around the canyons or tracks.
Tweaking the front grill and lights would make this perfect. Don't think I could buy it only liking the rear.
Z ,supra, type R,who’s best?like better hp,better sounds (louder)

Feels good to be excited for new manual cars. This, the Supra, and the new 86 are all hot.
I had been waiting for the review of this car, as always amazing videos, keep up the great work.

Enjoyed the video. To be honest i am not crazy about the looks. Do prefer the look of the front end on the Fiarlady you showed in this video. But the overall car seems to be lacking somehow. Just my opinion which of course only matters to me. Keep up the great content.
I been waiting for this bros!!!! Nissan really did sum special with this car!!!
Really like that split grill on the Fairlady version. If it came with that, I think I'd like it more than the Supra, but then if the Supra had a better nose, I'd like it more too.
