Great video as always. Unfortunately, Nissan dragged their heels way too long to get this car to the market and it already lost its mojo. They also missed the opportunity to put a removable Targa top so you can have the best of both worlds: hard top and Open top driving. For the asking price ($60k+)....the juice ain't worth the squeeze.
My 1990 Z non turbo was my first sports car. I thought it felt like a race car for the street when I got it in 2003, then I test drove a brand new Nismo 350 Z. I didn't know a suspension could feel SO stiff, so flat. it made my car suddenly feel soft so I guess that continues today. The new Nismo will be a beast!
I spent a grand total of $150 on a hotchkis front swaybar for my 370z. Try that for your older/nicer looking Z. Just do the front only for now, and maybe upgrade the endlinks. See how you like it. Still the best bang for the buck "mod DUDE BRO!" I have done to my 370z... then tires/alignment.... Coilovers are a mixed bag - some people love them - some people hate them - the issue is that they bring in 150 trillion new variables that only less than a dozen people on planet earth truly understand how to set them up properly.... I sold my 2017 c7 z51 back in 2021 for a new mk5 supra. Coming from the c7 the supra felt soft and really was not fun to drive on back roads because of how floaty it felt. Sold it to carvana a few months later for more than I paid for it lol.
Hey Joe, I think they're saving all the goodies for the NISMO. I definitely will be saving for it. I can see what you mean about it being soft and slow shifting. Hopefully the NISMO can deliver with more power/tuning, aggressive suspension, and styling.
@@porfiriato84 well that's where it gets ugly. Stealerships are already adding $20k on top of the $50k price tag. Honestly those NISMOs will probably be closer to $90k..
I love the legendary Z from Nissan this is worthy of buying. Looks great, drives like butter, and is pure fun all around. Thanks for the review and on throttle action and Steven your hard work is appreciated!
I do like the styling of this Z in the white. I would like Raiti's impressions of a similar one equipped with the manual transmission. Also, any observations on the ride quality of this Z with the performace trim versus a present generation Mazda Miata MX-5 RF would be helpful. Incidentally, I own a 1975 Datsun 280Z, so I am especially glad to see that this rejuvenated one retains the lovely style and lines.
Definitely going to look into picking one up. I love it, hated the 280ZX up to the 370Z, I have a 240Z and this definitely gives me old school vibes just with modern tech
great review Joe as always, I had a 75 280Z first year with fuel injection in silver, wire wheels, it was beautiful, not a speed demon , but just a pleasure to take trough the mountain switchbacks, THAT is the essence of this car

@Paul I mean if your an enthusiast are you really gonna keep the exhaust stock? They're tuner cars but sure if you like keeping your exhaust stock then you do you man.
One thing to note about the camaros vs the z is reliability. Ive owned a camaro 2016 camaro 1ss and driven my grandfathers 2017 camaro 2ss and though they were great new they had issues over the years. My 1ss had transmission issues, battery issues, and everytime it switched from v8 to v4 mode it squeaked. Also had the notorious torque converter shudder. On the 2ss after 15,000 miles it has transmission issues like slipping and hard shifting, also the heated/cooled seats stop working and had to pay $800 to fix it. Now i own the 2023 z and after seeing how reliable the 370z and the q60rs are i will see how this one will hold up in 20,000 miles, so far at 7,000 and no issues.
Great review Joe. love mine even though im only a week and 150 miles in! the two tone paint is based on the color itself. besides Diamond Black rosewood metallic and gun metallic also dont have the two tone roof black roof no matter the trim sport or performance. only small Raiti zonks so far are yea the rear camera is like looking through a dim aquarium. the heated seat switches are a bit cheap with the weird 370 carry over placement. The 3 twinkie holder thats doubles as a phone holder should have been wireless charge compatible like on other Nissans. Roll is there for sure but like Tamura San said its a dance partner. More on the GT side no doubt but the nostalgic design I think will age very well as it feels like the culmination of the all the Zs before it.
I think the 350 and 370 still look better imo. Although I never was blown away by the looks of any of the models, I can appreciate the engine performance on them all and the nismo editions handle much better so that would be the ideal configuration to get for these
I love the new Z but I still have not seen one yet. I barely see the 350z or 370z unless I am at a car show or track. There are none at any of the Nissan dealers in my area. 😢
Just saw one in burbs of Chicago, they want over 60 G for the car, they said they are getting calls from all over the country, Nope out of my range, sure is a great car
I started out being a Z lover in 1978. My friend Chuck had a new maroon 1978 280Z. The original (bad boy) lol in 1980 I wanted to buy a new Z so of course I bought a brand new 1979 280 ZX. It was silver with black hood vents and a black rear window louver; I loved that car! Back in those days not every car company in the world had super nice cars to choose from, especially in the USA, which only offered the Corvette. I would turn heads everywhere I drove it in the small town of Bountiful Utah. I am still a huge Z fan and would love to buy this car if I could afford it, that's a big if! I am sure that others will comment that they see a new "Z" several times a week. So far no such luck.
Great review on Nissan's tribute Z, the swan song for the history books. Now if they ever produce them. I'm dying to test drive one. Base Sport model for me, Rosewood sing color, with 18 in grey split five spokes, if i ever pull the trigger.
Had a 300zx as a 18 year old. Saved up for it, wrecked it like a dumbass in 2 months. 20 years later and I WAS ready to buy the new Z but the launch kept getting pushed. Bought an STI.
I have a 370 and been looking for one of these for a while now. Found one at a dealership out of town and took the time to stop and look at it. It was the Proto Spec with an MSRP of $54,915, and automatic but the car was a lot more than that on the other sticker. Definitely no since it was an automatic. Now, I'm thinking about the NISMO but that will probably be harder to find. Therefore, looking at other options now that are a step up from the Z for the $50-$70K price range that are NOT American made. Perhaps a used 911??
I've owned two 350z's and one 370z. All were stock and mint condition with low miles. I will always have a place in my heart for Z cars. But I moved up to a 2014 Cayman S and you're thinking in the right direction with a Porsche. You won't miss the 370 with a glorious flat-6 engine behind you. I'd be putting a 981 Cayman (2014-2016) on your list as the mid-engine Cayman is often considered even better than rear engine 911s which have gotten quite big. Cayman gives you all the Porsche experience without having to overpay for the 911 badge.
Stock turbos with bolt-ons and e85 went 10s@130 - upgraded turbos went 9s@140 - built motor should go 8s@150-160ish More than enough to blow the doors off of a C8 vette 😂 The 40k version is a solid value - you'll just need to modify it to really extract a high level of performance out of it.
I would have to call you out and definitely question those numbers for a street legal car, plus say goodbye to your warranty if you do any of that work. You can't viably compare moded cars to stock cars.
My first sports car was a 1983 280 ZX which I spent years working on it. Sadly, I sold it because I picked up a healthier hobby. Disappointed on the exhaust sound...for a V6 I was hoping for a more robust sound. My BMW X2 M35i sounds better :D

Cayman gives you all the Porsche experience without having to overpay for the 911 badge.
Raiti is the best, he's not scared to crush the speed limit 😂😂
Stock turbos with bolt-ons and e85 went 10s@130 - upgraded turbos went 9s@140 - built motor should go 8s@150-160ish
More than enough to blow the doors off of a C8 vette 😂
The 40k version is a solid value - you'll just need to modify it to really extract a high level of performance out of it.
Show me proof! Give me the link to the footage plz 🙏
I would have to call you out and definitely question those numbers for a street legal car, plus say goodbye to your warranty if you do any of that work. You can't viably compare moded cars to stock cars.
@thesharkking1120 If you're broke and worried about the warranty, just say that 😆

My first sports car was a 1983 280 ZX which I spent years working on it. Sadly, I sold it because I picked up a healthier hobby. Disappointed on the exhaust sound...for a V6 I was hoping for a more robust sound. My BMW X2 M35i sounds better :D
That is so awesome!
I have not seen one of these on the streets and I'm all over the place in a city where you see some of everything.
Where are all these cars? No one has them? Are they not being sold??? Don’t see any one the road here in Orange County, CA
I really like the Z and will get a manual before they are gone. Everything you need, nothing you don't.
They will never be gone. I promise you that it's a weak car
For the gauge cluster cluster isnt suppose to have 3 style
The turbo mode wasnt blue before ?
Love the 35MPH speed limit and ".... ON THROTTLE..." . Good stuff!
Congrats on a mil subs Joe!

I got a dealership by my area that doesn’t do markups. Only thing is I don’t wanna get them right now just so the 1st year problems can get fixed. Probably gonna wait another 6 months.
had an 06 rev up Z for about 10 years, was really looking forward to this car. was hoping for more : /
