    These have been a lifesaver for easy days during marathon training! Have just over 51 miles on them and they’re usually my choice when my feet and legs are tired. Agree that they’re as soft, if not softer, after putting miles on them. Glad I picked them up after seeing your first impression video.

    I love hats for morning runs, My hair is puffy in the morning, and if I try to brush it, it gets worse lol. Would you recommend Hoka for a first marathon? It will be a combo jog/walk, hoping to finish in less than 7 hours (slow runner lol)

    • @RunLikeHeller

    Thanks for distracting me at work again! I tried the Clifton 6 last year but after just 1 run I had blisters on the top of 2 of my toes. Sounds like the extra room above the toes in the Clifton 7 might have fixed that issue. I generally prefer a more relaxed fit as opposed to being to snug.

    I haven't ran in the Clifton 7's but I probably can get a sense of how soft the midsole is from running in the Bondi's which I did not like. It was too plush that my foot was just drowning in foam on each stride. It was a sloppy run experience for me and I was sore af after my run. I definitely wanna test out the Rincon 2's though.

    • @RunLikeHeller
      @RunLikeHeller  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rincon 2 is a different experience it’s still soft but they firmed up the midsole a bit

    I bought the Clifton 6 a month back. At first I thought it was WAY too cushiony. Now that it's broken in I'm a Clifton fan.

    Got my Hoka Clifton 7's yesterday and took them out for a 4.2 mile test drive this morning. All I can say is limooooo's for the feet! Good initial impression. First time I have had a max cushion shoe and I am off to a great start with this model. This should prove great for daily training and I will use them to run a half marathon to full marathon when I built up to those ultimate distances.

      @@RunLikeHeller My previous set of running shoes where the ASICS Gel Quantum 4 which don't have a a very soft midsole at all. I've been transitioning back and forth between that and my nike zoom Winflo 2. Neither of which has much in terms of midsole, but both recently have gotten worn down a lot and have been hurting the inside arches of my feet. Ya know I’m still under the Altra “zero drop” spell...... I’ve had the Olympus and now I’m in the paradigm. I always felt that because of my low back injury I would be better off in a zero drop cushy sneakers for my speed walks/alternate jogs. What is your opinion on zero drop cushy altras vs the Hokas which are also very cushy like altra but they are not zero drop
    I have noticed unfortunately a return to some plantar fasciitis occasionally with my altras.
    I just picked up a pair of the Clifton 7’s for my wife who uses them for moderate to high impact aerobic videos and speed walking. She seems to like them as she has had meniscus issues.

    • @RunLikeHeller
      @RunLikeHeller  3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great review emily! I did get this shoe. Same colour as you! My very 1st Hoka coz they are difficult to get in Australia. Unfortunately I was disappointed at 1st, it was super stiff, so i just wore it for walking and turns out it just needed break in time and now i adore it for recovery runs! Since i broke it in its pillowy soft but not too much. I loooove how it feels on tired legs. Love how stable it is for such a high stack height. Only downside is the upper is too hot once it gets over 85 degrees, which is all summer long here in Sydney! Need a recovery run shoe i can wear when its hot. Can’t wear the 1080v10 coz it irritates the hell outta my achilles. I tried the Nike invincible but its waaaaaay less breathable, like putting my feet in an oven and thats before i even started my run so and i had to send it home to Nike. Do you perhaps have a recommendation?

    • @RunLikeHeller
      @RunLikeHeller  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching! This is a tough one.. not sure if the 1080v11 would suffer from the same Achilles issue for you. Maybe the Hoka Rincon? Less cushion but a more breathable upper for sure.

  • @mabdulraheems
    @mabdulraheems 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Emily, i am using the saucony kinvara which has a similar concept of taking you feet a bit lower than the midsole for that stable feel and they say they have stability in their shoe for supporting the the feet nearing an end of a race but this feature is really working for me as daily trainer . Does Hoka also with its wide stance feel the same , since you pronate doe the hokas have a sligly firmer medial side like the newbalance to provide support for natural pronation ?

    • @RunLikeHeller
      @RunLikeHeller  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t feel like they have a firmer side but I do think that the wider base on Hokas tends to help with general stability for me.

    Does the shoe run true to size? I wear a 8.5 women’s. Thank you

      It’s just about true to size. It might be a bit long in the toes but it’s not too bad.

    Should I get this or the new glycerin 19 for easy days?

      Depends what you like. Clifton is veryyyy soft but lighter, might not be quite as durable as the glycerin. The Glycerin is heavier but has a bit more energy return/might be slightly more durable.

    Does any one have idea about its size, is it a bit bigger or smaller?

    I'm almost at 50miles in mine as well and am absolutely loving it for any days I want to baby my legs. I find the landing platform being so wide makes this crazy soft shoe actually relatively stable, lovin' it so far. Have a great day!

    I have to say...we all know you pronate but seeing you run in this shoe you are pronating a lot less than in some of the other shoes you have reviewed. I think its the wider base of the shoe, especially in the mid point of the shoe, under the arch...wider base. Love your reviews...keep them coming...stay safe out there ...

    It still looks narrow to me like most Hokas.
