No, Michael doesn’t do that joke this time. He did it the previous year when Pam is watching old footage. Roy also seems to think it’s funny, cause in that footage he accepts the award and says “we’ll see you next year.”
those are custom made trophies, they would have to have been ordered some time in advance. so michael probably purchased them with his company card long before the call with jan. and they definitely already own basic sound equipment that they’ve been using at their parties for years. the plot line wraps up pretty well!

Having worked in an office like this for about 5 years, where it's bull-pen style and nobody gets any privacy, it's usually about where you can surround the most desks per team/department to a power source to create "pods." But since it’s Phillis in both scenes, that somehow makes it qualify for an audio outtake.
