This is the first episode of The Office I’ve ever seen. It was a harrowing experience, then I started from the beginning of the series and became a lifelong fan but everytime this episode approaches...I feel...pain...
THIS was your first episode?! And u decided to then watch the entire series afterwards?? Wow. I’m impressed. I’m a die hard fan, I watch it every night before sleep, can quote almost every episode, and even I have only seen it like twice. I can barely stand it haha I watch the first parts and then I’m done. I cringe even hearing the title. Bravo, my friend. Bravo. 👏
It’s shown a number of times that everyone in the office does have a mic on them. Closed doors, closed windows and closed caskets won’t stop us from hearing their soul being removed from their bodies. And yes, this episode does steal souls.
+1 Indeed, the lav mic makes many a key appearance throughout the series. "Goodbye Michael" might be the most poignant example, "Crime Aid" had perhaps the most plot-crucial.
Yeah, but who can expect a team of professional writers to actually know anything about what they’re writing about? What are you expecting, some sort of professionalism? /sarcasm
Yea this was held back so long it was before the new voice actor took over for the tv sin side. Lol. But not gonna lie miss Jermery in these. . The other guy I dont feel really watches alot of the shows he reads the scripts for. He just follows script.
Don’t mind me, I’m just here to drop the little gem that Frosted Flakes wasn’t granted a copyright trademark because it’s too generic of a name. So yeah...it’s legal 😅
Because it isn't an actual charity. Michael just basically made a promise and these people trusted him. You can't charge someone with a broken promise.
When Michael said “could this day get any worse?”, if your watching this video on the day when it was posted, the answer would be yes. Very much worse.
@@benjaminlewis2910 well a lot of movies are like that, they are disturbing to watch but pretty dang good. Just like this episode, its pretty cringey to see the Scott's Totts but it was intentional and its funny
As painful as this episode is for many, and as fitting as the “I don’t like change” sin is for this channel, sinning Ellie Kemper/Erin Hannon is definitely crossing a line. It almost made me forget they forgot to roll commercials when Phyllis asked what Scott’s Tots was.
Nope nope nope. I couldn’t even make it through the cinemasins version of this episode. It’s just too much. I have to lay on the floor behind the couch any time this episode comes on.
Props to the writers for putting so much focus on the Employee of the Month subplot. The main story of Michael going to the school was cringey and painful, but that's also what made it enjoyable to watch. The Jim-Dwight kerfuffle was far more frustrating, and the phone call from David Wallace (not shown in this video) was one of the more WTF moments of this season.
The bad thing about this episode it has such an amazing cold opening but the rest of the episodes sucks I only watch for the opening and then change immediately to the next episode
@verebes zsolti People tend to skip this episode is not because this episode is bad, in fact, this episode is good no doubt (one of the best imo) but watching it is a whole new level of pain
I'll watch this series 100 times, but will and only ever have watched this episode once. It's so, so bad on so many levels that weren't even touched upon here and is 100% why Michael never deserved a redemption arc.
5:54 they wear wires or whatever. This was shown at the airport with Michael taking it off or the airing of the office where everyone turned their mics down to talk about their privacy
Am I the only one that went in concerned because I already heard how bad it was but then when I watched it, it wasn't even that bad? Like, there were other episodes that hit me way harder on the uncomfortable scale.
Totally agarre, this episode it's so overrated, i just found it over the top a d ridicoulous that it's just funny how it folds but thats it, it has so much plot holes to believe this could actually happen irl, unlike dinner party or phillis wedding
I don’t get all the people saying “I can’t watch this episode.” It’s not even the clingiest episode of the office. Phyllis’ wedding is more cringe than this episode.
I think it's the very real-world consequences. Like these kids thought they'd be going into school debt-free and get laptop chargers instead. As someone who experience the ups & downs of finding money for school, it just hurts - from seeing their excitement to how Michaels ignorance has forever changed something in their lives. It's not the cringiest moments but it's the most awkward and soul-crushing lol - like I cannot watch the scenes where they find out
Phyllis' wedding was cringe but it's not like there were any long term consequences to it. Michael made a fool of himself, got kicked out and then redeemed himself by (accidentally) finding her uncle. It was a lot easier to laugh at his misfortunes in a scenario like that. But this? Other than the cold open I don't think I laughed once. Watching Michael squirm as he tried to confess the truth wasn't funny because you knew he was on the verge of crushing the dreams of every student in that class. I also don't get how no one other that Stanley knew about this. From what was established in this episode Michael had been making frequent visits to this school which means in the 10 years leading up to this there should have been a point where he realized that he couldn't pay their tuition. It's not like he made a promise and then forgot about it. Given how much he loves to share his problems with Pam and Jim you would have expected him to confide in them well before the graduation date. Also, why did Stanley even let Michael go through with this? Was seeing Michael squirm really worth filling a classroom of kids with false hope?
It's been established through the series that they are in fact wearing mics underneath their clothes. So closing the door should not change how things sound
This episode has become WAY over-exaggerated over the last few years. It’s not as terribly cringe as people make it out to be; it’s maybe an above-average level of awkward for your standard office episode 🤷🏼♀️
