    Charlotte is a beautiful young lady! I'm glad to see all your children in different machines, learning the work. You're a great dad, and you have some very special kids!

    You remind me of my dad and how calm he was with us learning to do things - although I never drove a tractor, or combine. It shows that your kids enjoy farming because you make it fun for them. Well done!

    Good to see your youngest running the cart. I was the oldest of 5 kids on the farm. I was on a tractor by age 10. My sister under me ran a swather for dad on 1000 acre alfalfa farm and did all the cutting. Mon and brother and Dad ran three JD 214 wire tie balers and I ran the bale wagon. Family tims together are always life time achievements. I'm 69 now and these videos with family involvement always make me think about good times in years gone by.

    I think my favorite part was the end where Andy was talking with his kids in the background. Jr.’s pants were dirty and he complained about losing his AC. Now that is a farmer in the making! Well done to Charlotte for her first cart work - when she starts complaining about the combine driver she will be an official cart operator.

    Here in michigan we had really good wheat this year. Ours yielded 110 bushels an acre average. We only had 800 acres in this year . This fall we plan on planting 900 acres . We have been harvesting wheat for other farmers and doing bales. We do large squares for local dairy farms. In our area the straw is more valuable than the grain to the dairys. Great to see your children involved in farm . Grandpa always said Every combine operator should run grain cart once to feel the pressure mostly because we run 2 combines at harvest . Nice video stay safe and farm on my friends !

    • @johns9315
      @johns9315 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry not being rude but I had to have a giggle when I read that about you had really good wheat this year at 110 to the acre, here in the UK most farmers wouldn't even get there combine out the shed for less than 180 bushels per acre as they would say it wouldn't pay time you have drying costs and all to pay. Guess your luck with your weather being hot and don't have the to worry about drying the grain there like we do.

    • @anthonybanda8192
      @anthonybanda8192 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@johns9315 that 110 was an average yield. We had 300 acres that yielded almost 175 bushels an acre. We plant winter wheat and we got a late season frost this spring. We farm 5200 acres of corn soybeans anf wheat . The wheat isn't our main crop it's just part of our crop rotation . Glad to hear that your wheat does that good. It really makes me wonder about what potential wheat has yield in a good climate . Thanks for the kind words. Stay safe and farm on!

    Giving your kids confidence to do stuff is the best thing you can do for them. Good video too. Its seeding time down here in New Zealand and we are just getting some much needed rain. The wheat is in and last big block almost ready to be drilled with Kale for the neighbour's cows next winter. I hang about on a cropping farm, helping at harvest and maintaining the combines and other cultivation equipment. They grow everything from potatoes for seed, peas for seed and lots and lots of ryegrass.

    @ 0:47 As a farmer & equipment owner myself, may I make a suggestion?
    Wipe off that chaff & debris off the inlet cooling air side screens periodically when they get loaded up like that. It only takes a minute to brush 'em off. Just a suggestion.
    Your tractor's engine & hydraulic cooling systems will be very greatful! Seen too many people over the years let the radiators get all plugged up, leading to overheating issues.

    It's admirable that you train and allow your young kids to operate the equipment. These days society thinks it is slavery, child abuse and too dangerous for kids under 18 or 21 to operate equipment. There was a hardware store in my home town that was an enclosed system. The lid closed and was dogged down with either 4 or 6 dogs. To operate it required both hands to push start buttons with your arms spread out simultaneously. It had a large sign stating that no one under the age of 18 was allowed to operate it. At 16 they can drive a car on the public highways at 70 mph or whatever the speed limit is with millions of other people that their actions could effect but they can't operate a paint shaker! Your kids should also be proud they can do things that others would only be intimidated by.

    @ Farming Fixing & Fabricating
    @ 17:45 Wonderful tractors. Ya just can't beat the 'ole "New Generation" 20 series John Deere tractors.
    The 4320 was known as the "Super 4020". As much as the 4020 is beloved by most, truth be told, it's actually a better tractor than the 4020, IMO.
    I miss my 1966 JD 4020. It was a great tractor. Rare too. She had a Levy Live Power hydraulic FWA and an M&W turbo on her.
    Had some money troubles about 15 years ago, and sold her way too cheap. Some Upstate NY fella that was a logger bought it. I truly regret ever selling it.

    • @FarmingFixingFabricating
      @FarmingFixingFabricating  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did Willow Run Farms buy it?

    • @turbodiesel4709
      @turbodiesel4709 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FarmingFixingFabricating : I honestly don't know. I sold it with a very large & very heavy crate full of extra Levy Live Power hydraulic front wheel assist parts. An extra belly pump, hoses, spare drive motors & a complete axle assembly with a decent wheel & tire on it.
      All 4 tires were pretty worn, the fronts were basically bald. 16.9-38 rears & 12.4-24 fronts. Rear rims were silver Unverferth replacement rims. Rim clamps had eyelets for the use of snap-on duals if desired.
      She had pile of front cast JD stacked plate weights on the nose, cast weights on the front wheels, cast weights on the rear wheels + the normal loaded Calcium Chloride rears for added ballast. She was HEAVY.
      Chrome straight pipe off the turbo, located in a separate custom hole in the hood closer to the operator, typical of a first generation M&W turbo kit for the 4020. There was a M&W block-off plate in the hood over the factory large round muffler hole location. Newer injection pump, no green paint on it.
      12V Delco alternator. Single dry element air cleaner, no pre-cleaner stack, nor hole in the hood for one.
      Hood was nearly perfect, one stamped aluminum original "JOHN DEERE" side emblem missing & other one was still there but a little loosely attached. All tinwork & guards were present.
      By the serial number, she was a 1966 model year JD 4020.
      Synchronized transmission, dual rear hydraulic remotes, 3pt hitch with sway blocks, drawbar, good older faded original seat, most lights worked. Rear differential lock pedal was missing, but it had diff lock, it just was never used, and plunger was frozen up from lack of use.
      She had decent solid fenders with a few dents, several drilled holes in the top of the right fender where a 4-spool Cross brand hydraulic control valve once was mounted to operate various functions for a large tow-behind field spray-rig, a little lower section rust/rot typical of most older row-crop style rear fenders.
      I was the second owner. I bought it at auction from the original owner. He was a potato farmer from the Southern Tier, somewhere south of Buffalo, NY.
      Anyhow, if it fits that lengthy description, then that was my tractor. Wish I could get her back, but I realize it's pretty unlikely.

    Ms Charlie. You couldn’t keep me off a tractor when I was 16 and that was back when all we had were convertibles (no cab) Both my step boys have figured one thing out in life so far, they know they don’t want to be farmers 🥵
    Ps... we grow a lot of produce too and that’s a ton of bent over picking work and I think that turned me against it. And we’re in SC on coast and it’s usually 105F w 98% humidity, so I almost understand 🥵😂

      @assassinlexx Farming is much more mechanized today. Choppers, drive lines, sheer size, wheel loaders, combines, sprayers, trucks, much greater chance for injury if careless or over-worked. Many farmers harvesting thousands of acres. The 50's hazard, ?narrow front ends, roll overs.?
      Today much more complex, large horsepower, and Women can operate it all, given an opportunity. Neighbors wife runs a 500+ hp combine, 40 ft header, hills, sometimes 12 hours straight. 'Cause husband recognized her potential.

    Farming is good for those kids! Bean is a cool cat, we’ve missed her. Still too cool for her glasses I see... lol.

    I'm sorry Andy, but I laughed out loud when you said you were trying to keep "an eye" on what you were doing there! Not sure if you meant it to be, but it was a damn good pun!!

    That’s good that she has confidence in herself. I know if I was around the equipment I’d be nervous.
    You should be proud👍

    Awesome video as usual. When I was Jereds age I had a corner of the shop that had a pile of mufflers stacked up in it because every tractor had a straight exhaust pipe on it. I’m assuming he must have the same thing looking at those tractors lol

    I started life one of 6 kids on a farm and did not get near min wage. Haha Charlotte, make sure you get paid something for your hard work. Growing up on a farm is awesome. Stay safe, machinery has its danger.
