thank you. I have struggled with a sensitive gut for the past 5 years and I often get so overwhelmed and frustrated. Whenever I have a very bad day I think to myself- what else do I have to cut out, should i fast, etc...- it really takes a toll on me mentally. It sometimes consumes my whole day and its really sad because I love healthy food, I study nutritional science because I´m so fascinated by the topic, but it also makes me feel like my health should be in a better place than it is... this video was very calming to me, I was able to step back and view things more simply again. so thank you, Keep on doing what you´re doing Meghan!

I was diagnosed with IBSD & UC for the last 5 years basically caused by my Graves’ disease which is hyperthyroidism. My situation is pretty severe, and every doctor or nutritionist is always stumped. I can eat something today and get completely sick the next day. The majority of my diet is everything you shouldn’t eat. All the white flour and processed foods, because if I eat a piece of fruit then I’m out of commission for a few days. I love healthy Whole Foods but I can’t eat any of it or I end up attached to the bathroom. For the first 3.5 years of living like this it truly affected my mental health and I considered horrible outcomes. Everyday is a struggle, I a unable to leave the house unless I take a good 6-7 Imodiums. In the last 5 years I have not be able to work, travel or do normal things. I remember a time I felt like a whole person.

IMO as someone who gets a tummy ache and heartburn here and there, food journal to see what foods upset your tummy. And maybe ask your Dr for a referral to a GI specialist if it gets really bad. Lots of water, and eat slowly help too!

I've decided to add peppermint tea with a slice of ginger as a post-lunch ritual, then go for a walk. I think this will be very helpful. Thank you!

Thankyou so much for this video 😭 literally couldn't have come at a better time, after 2 years of being basically housebound due to my stomach issues and after many doctor's visits, tests and trying to cut out foods, I have had a diagnosis of severe IBS this morning. I have been googling it all day and getting more confused by the minute! I suffer daily, and with 2 small children I have never felt so hopeless. I have been told by the doctor to cut out fibre but alot of info online contradicts this so I still feel like there is no end in sight and I have no idea what I'm doing. Knowing you have suffered and turned it around is very reassuring, maybe there is hope after all. Thank you so much for putting this info out there xx Love from the UK

Can I suggest you follow Dr Hyman on TH-cam. He is phenomenal. In layman’s terms he’s a food doctor and his videos are always so insightful. Hope that helps ❤️

@@siany123 Hi Sian, do you have IBS-D (diarrhea) or IBS-C (constipation)? Hi struggle with IBS-C. There are a handful of us that do not do well with a lot of fiber as it is hard to digest. But as you improve your gut health you should be able to eat more of it.

Thank so much for sharing this. You know our healthcare professionals should be as thorough as you have been in this video. For me it was excercise and watching the portions of triger foods(of which I loved), that turned my digestion around and also being vegetarian. I'm no longer vegetarian but I am more conscious of eating more of a variety of veggies than anything else.

Well presented and extremely informative. I really appreciate this. I have a couple of inherited gut issues and now the doctor has put me on Metformin which is playing havoc with my system so, anything that helps this is welcome. Many thanks.

👋Hi I was wondering if sometime you could please make a vid for non alcoholic fatty liver disease, like meals, diets and cleaning out the liver. I’m in high school and often get really busy with school it gets overwhelming when I have to cook and its so hard to get good info and instructions for meals. I always feel sick and have bad sharp craps often after I eat even when I think I ate good. Your videos are so factual and easy to understand, and your tips for a organized and clean life has helped quite a lot.

Meghan I seem to be noticing foods I used to eat comfortably no longer are so. Some of the foods that used to be free of additives in the "Health Food" aisle such as crackers for instance are now laced with 'this and that' that amount to ten ingredients that used to be only 5! Like 'Mary's Gone Crackers' crackers. To that I am facing it doesn't matter whether I eat or not eat, have milky coffee or not, the moment I am up and about my stomach slowly begins to swell as the day goes on. Is anyone else on the same page? I now have grandchildren and have noticed it is definitely easier to eat and gain readily in the wintery season. With love, Meghan. [ I've dived back into some of your past videos that used to perk me up to keep going.] xxx

Thank you ..your video are really helpful and you have a soothing voice .and I like the part where we does not necessarily have to eliminate the trigger food completely .but rather to reduce it and slowly incorporating it to out diet .

I love beans but tinned beans upset my tummy, however if I consume beans that were soaked overnight it makes a massive difference. Also, when I’m worried during times when my children are sick it definitely affects my guts to the point where I need to go to the toilet.
