Awesome work man. A question or two if I may as I am new to HA everything. I am on skyconnect stick atm on Win 11 VirtualBox environment. Usually have to unlpug - replug stick or remove and scan from device manager if starting Virtualbox as it does not pick up the stick by default. So considering SMLIGHT SLZB-06 and hoping it gets picked up without having to do this......? Can I simply copy the network over to the SMLIGHT SLZB-06 without re-pairing? Is there a way to backup my skyconnect stick network if I needed to go back even if I have to re-pair or not?
@@guylast9516 yes, since it works over ethernet, that step will go away. Sorry I haven't try to do something similar yet, but... I would say that you have the best options for it to work, if both are configured in the same way (if the original is setup using the add-on setup the other using the add-on, if it's directly to zha/z2m, then connect the other one directly).
@fixtse. thanks. Sorry you lost me. Are you saying to configure both SM L and Skyconnect the same with the same add on? The Skyconnect is configured multipan atm. Was thinking to separate the Z2MQTT and thread eventually but it's been working OK for me with Z2MQTT. If SM L is able to handle both then I don't mind using it for both. I would need to remove the Skyconnect and add SM L right. They can't both be plugged in? I just got the SM L yesterday and waiting for POE adapter.
@@guylast9516 that was an easier reference, if both are configure on multipan, it's more likely that doing a backup could work, but I can't assure you that it will work, since I haven't try it myself.

I am currently using an RPI4 and Conbee II dongle for my ZHA network but I would like to extend it with Matter and BT capabilities. So a #SLZB-06 would be very welcome.
each of them need their own zigbee2mqtt service (you can deploy it using docker), that's it, use the same Mqtt broker for all of them and the devices will appear on Home Assistant, no special configuration needed

Yes, I guess you can try to make a backup, and restore it to the new network, if configuring with ZHA it allows you to restore a previous version when you start the setup process.
I am looking for a way to actually monitor the gateway via home assistant. So for example if new firmware is available - I'll see it in Home Assistant, don't need to login into the device UI. Anyone knows how to do?

this is my take after dealing with a migration using the sonoff dongle from just zigbee to zigbee + matter

Yes, you could use 1 as coordinator and 2 as routers, or use the 3 as coordinators with their own zigbee2mqtt instance
