I can't get mine to work with home assistant on the zigbee2mqtt, I see many like you just copy and paste and it works, well not for me... it sort of works then crashes I was able to add one sensor (aqara temp sensor) that will not read anything, sys incompatible, and it will just randomly stop, I got it going again using some tips here, but still won't read the sensors anyway. I have heard some doing fresh install of HA, well I don't think I am going to do that, as this zigbee was a new addition so I may just forget about spending days trying to get it working. I've got other things working without issues, not sure what's going on with this?
Stuff like this can be frustrating, assuming you've done the core and Zigbee updates to the latest version? Have you tried reaching out the SMLIGHT tech support, they're pretty responsive from what I've seen. Aqara devices can be problematic on any connection mainly because they don't strictly adhere to ZigBee standards, I paired a temp sensor just two days ago and it's already dropped off the network whereas everything else is rock solid. Have you got any other non Aqara devices you're able to try?
ZIGBEE + USB are not happy together when aligned. Home Assistant suggests to use a small extension cord to misalign them even with their proprietary adapter.
Yes with USB 3 ports it's best to use an extension cable to move the dongle away to reduce interference. Although I'd not really noticed anything when using the SONOFF dongle on an Intel NUC
Thanks for the great tutorial! :) Just a question: Where can I find the ieee address of my SkyConnect to write it on the new SLZB-06? Thanks for your help!
@@Byteofgeek nothing.. I've tried to find it on every core-firmware version and every possible zigbee firmware version. Should I use any custom firmware to be able to overwrite the coordinator's ieee address?
No just the latest version of core and ZigBee should be fine. I suggest logging a ticket with the SMLIGHT team via their website, they're pretty good and should be able to help you find it.
I followed your steps but mines doesn't work. I currently got a sonoff dongle e and am trying to migrate to the slzb-06. When i try running z2m webUI it keep saying 502 bad gateway. Can you please help.
Check your configuration to make sure you've got the right IP address, also make sure you don't have any reference to the USB dongle any more. Check this in the configuration file in your Zigbee2MQTT folder using file editor
If I already have another device that works as my coordinator (SonOff E for example) and I need to expand my ZigBee network with the SLZB-06, connected via ethernet cable (Connection mode: Ethernet) and working as a Router (Radio mode: ZigBee Router). Is it possible?
Cheers mate, I need one of those ethernet dongles as my house is too big and my HA server is a VM in a server rack. The USB dongle just can't cover the house.
Yes I use some from AliExpress, the round ones, 16 amp. Work great and never had a problem and got 6 of them. Power monitoring all set up in Home Assistant too.
@@Byteofgeek Had a look any chance you can give a pointer to what one? as price range is from just over a £1 and up don't want to go too cheep and risk anything. thanks in advance
Well first of all the decision to change was not because it was free, I'd already been looking at the SMLIGHT coordinators as an option prior to them contacting me. That aside though, the change is all part of future plans I have with my network and host that I'd rather have in place now than when I've expanded things.
@@Byteofgeek ok, but that’s not an answer :) Why you are changing, that’s the question. It’s not irrelevant as I am having old coordinator myself, conbee II, which is still good, so not sure what to do :) I am considering skyconnect but I read it’s not that stable when doing both matter and zigbee, so now I’m thinking use skyconnect for matter and leave conbee II for zigbee… still thinking, that’s why I’m interested in your reasoning. Changing something to something else just because it’s newer has very little sense to me..
But I never said it was because it was newer I said it was for future plans 🙂 some of which I've mentioned on the channel previously but aren't too dissimilar to your needs.
The Dongles look very nice and i got one but i have this PANID problem a lot run into and the only solution so far i could find, is you have to repair all your devices, so not soo easy as you say allways.

Are you currently using ZHA?
@@Byteofgeek thanks for the reply, but i already found the ieee address (i used z2m). But i have no input field on the UI of the SLZB-06M..
In the Z2M and ZHA menu option, is there nothing under Advanced at the bottom of the page?

I haven't tried it as described but you should be able to as in reality it's no different to any devices on the network that act as a router.

Got 1 in each of my Summer Houses and link them back home whit wireguard, works great.
It's the perfect device for that 👍

I have not watched all video (a bit long) but WHY you are changing the dongle, apart of the fact you received one for free?…
