the best thing about David Archuleta has always been his purenesss/his commitment to faith.....the light that eminates from him due to his authenticity is amazing.....even while he was struggling it is a gift to hear someone so open honest and transparent...i hope he realizesthat God cares about ones spiritual orientation...not their sexual orientation great interviewer too....

He is an incredible human. It’s so hard to live life and then to struggle in this excruciating way and to come out of it with a smile. Thank you for sharing your truth, David. ❤

Well done. I've seen other interviews with Archuleta and the interviewers alway speak over him. You gave him space and respect to reflect on his life, carrier and music. That's a sign of a great interviewer.

David’s story and mine are just about the same and we both came out the same year. I love him so much and find inspiration in everything he talks about concerning his experiences because I lived those as well.

Hi David, watched you since idol, we always loved your music. We went thru hard times, met you once when I had my girls with me and my Anna ran so fast she fell running to see you. In Utah. She held in her tears till you left. We were in rough times, seems like rough times follow me. Trying to find true faith. I love God, but not finding true spirituality.God Bless

What you ran into is wanting to be authentic and honest - and there is nothing wrong with you! I came out in my thirties as bisexual and I was raised LDS too. I was once told by a Stake President after admitting that I had kissed a guy and wanted to try more that "God can only love you if you deny who you really are." I've had mental health issues for roughly the last 25 years and been in therapy the last 6 years with the department of veterans affairs. I served a Mission, I used to be a veil worker in the temple. Coming out was scary but suddenly this weight I didn't even know I was carrying around my whole life was lifted off my shoulders, and my depression was alleviated for a short time.
I'm no longer LDS but I still have family who are. IMO the LDS church is toxic for people who are LGBTQIA+ because what they teach isn't love or acceptance. I'm not saying that the members can't be loving, they absolutely can. I'm saying that TCOJCOLDS has toxic, bigoted, teachings which marginalize people who don't fit the cookie cutter mold of what Mormonism teaches is moral.
And the sad thing is, that's not Christlike. I don't care what religion someone else is - only how they treat other people.
    Cheers. 🥰

Wow I appreciate what you wrote here of your experience. I am finally learning to see me, to love me, and it frees me to stop judging myself and others-it seems to go together. I am learning bit by bit from a CD and audiobook Selections from A Course in Miracles I listen to every morning and lately I am listening over and over to track 76 and 77 that teaches me forgiveness and I know it is making me happy and I feel real (which feels so peaceful) and I feel free. I am working on giving other people whose words and actions harmed me and my family-ex-husband, our kids, and my family of origin, Track 76-77 listening over and over again to get these freeing, loving, words running through my mind instead of the mistaken ideas I have been taught by church leaders for so many many decades, change the tracks running through my mind.
What you wrote here, and this wonderful interview, express how I feel. Thank you.

Religion has been bastardized by humans. Christ and God are love and not judgement. These two comments are wonderful! Thanks! 🙏

It is a wonder he survived, and I am still worried about him. I believe that a just God will punish church leaders who harm their dear children, including their queer children. I am so angry about this.

Just watched the LDS temple ceremony movie (2014) online and have to say that the LDS Church has some quite progressive theology. So Elohim sends these two gay art directors, Jehova and Michael, obviously a couple, down to create heaven and earth, fowl and fish, and mankind. I mean, have you seen a straight art director? I haven't. And these snarky remarks about "all kinds of seed"... 🏳️‍🌈💪😇

Any label or identity that is outside of being a child of God is not one to claim. I can see how it serves as a distraction and can take us off the path. Jesus didn’t say that we need to come out of a closet and embrace our worldly lusts. He asked us to come up out of the water and be born again, deny ourselves of all lust and temptations of this world and follow Him. All the lust and curiosity is not our identity. I wish David the best as he sorts all this out.

Well, if David can use the word "queer" than I guess you can make your silly comment.

He didn't say come out of the closet, He said come as you are. He said let the children come to me. He said the greatest commandment is that we love each other. When the woman caught in adultry was placed before him, He didn't jump on the band wagon and point fingers at her and scorn her. He wrote everyone else's sins in the dirt. And after they slithered away with their arrogant tails between their legs, THEN He told her to sin no more. She felt His love for humanity in spite of sin. Where are we in these stories? Are we coming to Him as a child, open to learning how He really loves? Are we learning how to love without judgment? When we can love His love of acceptance and compassion for sinners, for humanity, when we become so much like Him in HOW we love, we won't have to preach about what it takes to find his favor. People will be drawn to our reflection of His grace. 🙏 It is my prayer to love as He loved.

Did you not hear how much he was suffering before he came out? Fuck you and your religion.
