I lived that same life for 27 years! Born and raised in a baptist church I thought for sure I was going to hell and prayed everyday for God to change the way I felt. The first couple times I fell in love I was just afraid of the disappointment from family and church family. It all worked out, my family still loves and supports me and I left the Baptist church and found one that supports the community. David Archuleta is nothing but and inspiration to so many LGBTQ youth and I"m sure will save countless lives from suicide.
I found this to be so refreshing. A gay man that wants to help others and who refused to let anyone take God from him. And finally a gay music artist that sings deep songs like this. Perfect 💕✌️

I already have. I watched him on Idol and he did great but as soon as it was over I basically just forgot about him until I came across this. I am hoping to order a couple hundred dollars of his merch. I will always support what he did here and what he will go on to do. The gay community has really needed someone like him and his music. It's not always about sex and the vast majority of them make it seem like it is. Who doesn't like sex? But we're so much more than that.

I'm 55 and have been out since 1988. You're never alone because you have yourself. I stuck a memo on my mirror saying "Where there's a mirror, there's love." As a matter of fact, I've used it in my queer fantasy Jode series I'm writing.

I had the amazing opportunity to see David perform at YLC five years ago in Ontario, Canada. As one of the nurses there, I realized how many of the dear youth were struggling with mental health challenges. When David came to perform, he said he felt prompted to talk to them about something completely different than he and his manager had scripted. He was blessed by the Spirit to share his struggles and challenges with anxiety (and no wonder, given four years later he courageously shared being gay and LDS). I admired him before, but I admired him even more after that experience and that has continued to this day. What a courageous and beautiful spirit! Now that my own child has come out as transgender and non-binary, I realize even more how in tune with the Spirit that David was that day - he knew what they needed to hear and continue to need to hear. What a great role model! Much love from an LDS Canadian mo of an LGTBQ2 child! XO

What an incredible young man. This young man is so in love with God Almighty,and he shows this each and every day to not only his fellow human beings,but to himself. He is so very gifted and we need to let him know that he is so very,very loved by so many. I have a sense of what he is going though because I want to be faithful to God,but want and need to be happy and love myself. It is difficult at times. Yeah, it's so beautiful. I actually had a really amazing coming out too. When I was in school we did speeches. When I gave the last one I decided to come out to almost everyone all at once. It was so nerve wracking. I actually got disqualified because I couldn't finish and didn't stay in time constraints. When I looked up, 3/4 of the other students were crying or almost there. I will never forget that the next day we had voted on the speeches and regardless of being disqualified they nominated me as the official winner. One of the most emotional moments of my life, when I was hysterically crying and they all surrounded me with a group hug. That was over 20 years but I remember it like it was yesterday and haven't forgotten any of them. It is scary coming out but it's worth it. 💕

Dear David, I wanted you to know what you've done by doing this. I'm a few years older than you and I never really fit in anywhere. I spent most of my life hurting and I ended up with a horrible drinking problem and I spent so many days wishing I'd not wake up. But now these days, most everyday I replay this. NEVER had a song make me want to try so hard to give up my bad habits. I think I speak for many when I say that this song makes me want to be a better and stronger person. THANK YOU DAVID, FOR YOUR BRAVERY TO DO THIS IS EVERYTHING!

We come from the same church and growing up in the church have always been raised to embrace *EVERYONE* no matter what. Proof it has a lot to do with how one was raised, some ppl in the church, actually all churches/religions can be awful, some are wonderful people, it all depends on the person, I’ve seen it firsthand. I have had a crush on him ever since I watched that one and only season of American Idol I ever watched. In truth, I can't stand the show, but was the draw for me. He has to be one of the most sincerely honest and truthful individuals I have ever seen. He is like the small, innocent child who has been left alone in a shopping mall filled with busy people too busy with their own whatever to take notice. Of course that is my own imagining, and it isn't who he really is. But deciding to be that open about something so person to so many, can truly make you feel that way, and no matter how old you are when it happens. His willingness to be so honest and open is not only awe-inspiring, it makes me feel inadequate in my own attempts to be the same throughout life. I am so glad for him, but not because he came out, or because he is enroute to accepting it, but because despite whatever difficulties he has suffered and will no doubt suffer in the future, he never seems to lose that capacity to be so open and willingly unguarded.
If only the rest of us could do so as naturally and as freely as he does. Perhaps the world would be a better place.

Years back I remember hearing about all these young guys from 11 - 17 killing themselves because they were made to feel they couldn't even be close to God. As a queer person almost 6 decades into this life, for those of you who choose to continue to grow, coming to terms with who you are as a queer person is only the beginning of what I guarantee is an incredible journey, one that non LGBTQ+ people can never know. Not according to God and God has already made it known to me personally that he has no tolerance for this behavior within in his kingdom. Hes always been like that. To God this behavior is not righteousness so he must have a very good reason why he don't want this behavior going on in his house. We have to stay away from this behavior or be kicked out of the kingdom if we don't.. We don't get to make the rules in our Father's house.

@@germanslice you need to be better informed. It's not this simple. God creates gay people as gay for a reason. Try to be more understanding. You might start by talking directly to gay people and asking questions.

This is a trial like Abraham or Job where you have to learn to step out and walk on the water like Peter in order to keep yourself afloat in the gospel, or down you sink. Its really that simple. You don't focus on your sexuality when you're the one sinking down in the water....So to stay afloat you have to always keep your eye on the Savior Not on your Sexuality for your Sexuality is just going to make you sink if you make that the Central Focus of your faith instead of making Christ the Center of your Faith as we are counseled to keep our eye on Christ not on ourselves otherwise if we don't keep our eye on the Savior then we cannot become converted.. And Conversion is the requirement that the Lord expects of his saints.
This is why he has got a law of Chasity to prevent those interactions until the right time of marriage but he only allows this to happen between a man and woman inside of marriage and won't allow anything outside of this bound. So we have to avoid getting into compromising situations like Potiphar';s wife that are outside of the bounds of his laws. The Lord has always ALWAYS been Strict and Unyielding when it comes to the law of chastity. I know God well.I've had 30 years to walk with Him So the short answer is no, God will not allow same sex behaviors on that Covenant Pathway. You and only you alone have to walk that path with the Savior to you cannot drag the gay lifestyle along with you.
So this then becomes a real test of oné s faith and endurance and trust and testimony and patience in the Lord because you got to make the transition in order to be able to enjoy a realm of peace and rest when you go back through the veil otherwise you won't be at peace when you go through. That's why the Church only supports keeping God's Commandments and not living by the world's standards. As I understand it God will not allow men to sleep with other men or to enter into marriage with them even if they have been obedient to the law of chastity in the Church and desire to marry a same sex partner which God will not allow.. So the hardest part then is avoiding all the temptations and distractions to want to interact romantically while walking along that path. So the answer is no, you cannot serve two masters when serving the Lord . You cannot be both practicing homosexual behavior and also be a member in good standing. The laws of God make that impossible.... But to walk towards Christ during a tough trial like SSA requires a tremendous amount of Faith and Focus. So no its not meant to be easy walking the covenant path. That means in order to walk with Christ you have to get rid of all other distractions.

I very much believe in god and all his wonderful miracles and love. But, my god would never create a person to condemn them for love…and “behavior”. it’s not a choice, it’s who a person is. When asked, when did you chose to be gay?I said when you chose to be straight. God don’t put evil in the world, he don’t give free will only to condemn someone for who they love. I'm gay and I can tell you now that God didn't design me to be like this. You're looking at a fallen human being and trying to make an assessment based on that.
Big Fan as well. I had a son that no matter where I hid things around the house from him that he wasn’t supposed to have, he always found them. When I told him, “that’s not for you.” He replied, “ then why do you always hide things where I can find them?”

I’ve been in love with David since I first saw him perform on The Voice. I knew he was gay instantly, same as me. It’s taken me just as long to come to terms and I’m still not there. I pray for David. I always want to give him a hug and let him know everything is going to be okay and that God love us all. He made us. We love you David. So proud of you. I hope to find a partner like David and get married.
I saw him first on American Idol, I never thought he was gay, actually I didn't buy his albums because I assumed he'd just be another judgemental christian.. now don't I feel ignorant. But I will be going back and buying all of his music. I will help support him no matter what. ❤️🤗💕🙏😇
@@someoneout-there2165 your gaydar must be broke, I recall telling my friends he must be gay or will come out of the closet before long.. and that was within a couple seconds of seeing him for the first time ever on Idol.
You may be right about that but honestly it just makes me annoyed with Idol if many people knew he was gay and he ended up getting 2nd place. Clay Aiken, Adam Lambert and David Archuleta all placing 2nd and ALL THREE far and above sold more albums than the "winners" In the end though of anyone ever seen on Idol, David is definitely the closest to an Idol. Who knows how many lives he has saved already. 💕😇
