That's $250 more expensive than the all digital PS5 slim and $200 more expensive than the PS5 slim with disc drive. It's even more absurd when you consider that the PS5 Pro is actually $810 if you purchase the disc drive and vertical stand not included in the $700 package. 500 is the sweet spot, but they aren’t willing to take those losses on hardware sales when they keep having game flops that aren’t making up the difference
@@MumboJumboZXC To be fair, with the games from consoles going onto PC, it kind of defeats the purpose of selling the consoles at a loss. The whole point of doing that was to get people to get into your games and such. At this point, you can get a PC that is better by a few hundred dollars and have the greater flexibility than what a console would have.
@@urazz7739No it doesn't. They make their profit on software. Putting the software on more platforms means they can KEEP selling the console at a launch. XBox does so because their software earnings outweighs anything from the hardware sales. PlayStation is huffing their own farts again.
There have been a few points in the past where you could build an equal or better PC for the cost of a console. Still, it's been quite a while since that has been the case... Last several years equal level pc was a bit more expensive. But I'm quite sure I could match the ps5 pro for over 800 dollars.
@@Dragonking1984ha, I wish. People still scalped 4090’s for well over $2000. If its availability is scarce, people will still pay for the scalped price if they want it badly enough.
It is kinda those people's fault then, ALL just because it was considered "rare" at that point, something hard to get hold of, so they all paid the earth for PS5, just so they could say - "Look at me, I got one!" Mainstream people and consumerism are pathetic.
What's worse is that if scalpers buy the Pro, Sony is going to assume consumers bought it and declare the price a success. They will then mark up the PS6 price even higher.
@@edselgreaves6503 Well, Sony wouldn't even care who bought it, they'll just still consider it a "sale" and therefore a success. But normies will never change, they're addicted and in the trap of Consumerism.
This is precisely why i migrated over to PC. Mind you, I’ve been a a PlayStation fanboy since the OG but Sony over the last few years have lost their damn minds. What they should have done was make the PS5 Pro the same price as the launch PS5 and just drop the latter’s price.

Increasing PS Plus by 35%, increasing the cost of controllers to $80, investing millions in a live service shooter no one wanted before canceling it after two weeks, and now a highly overpriced console that offers marginally better visuals. Sony's just been crushing it the past year.
Let's be honest. PS4 to PS5 graphics are only marginally better as well. It is laughable that XBox and Playstation are acting as if their consoles are revolutionary. The worst part is though that many people seem to be buying into this.

@@mobious01 Well, people who prefer getting their games physically will want the disc drive, and why the hell should you have to shell out an extra bit of cash just to stand your console upright?
I saw a theory that Sony is doing an experiment with the price. The PS4 Pro only made up like 10% of all PS4s sold so they don't expect the PS5 Pro to sell a lot regardless of the price. So instead they are testing out what customers will accept for the PS6 because leaks are saying it will cost a lot to make. If gamers accept the $700 price point the PS6 will probably be $700-750 and if they don't it will probably be $600.

AI NPCs is the only thing I'm excited about the future of gaming. If you have experience with one of the good chat bots or character bots, you'll see the huge potential they have, especially in a game.
IMO Graphics have basically "peaked" at this era, and won't really advance commercially without some significant technological innovation that allows for much higher graphical fidelity and more complex lighting solutions at affordable prices. Hell there still aren't many systems able to run games on max settings at 60+ FPS 4K with ray-tracing on so making games that push ultra-realistic graphics as their main selling point feels kind of a waste, and even then the graphical gains as seen by the naked eye are quite negligible. Where I see gaming need to innovate on the visual side is in animations, physics, and kinematics, which I feel are aspects of gaming visuals that just completely fluctuate in quality between years. There need to be more tools to allow devs to better streamline and ease up the process of making quality animations, more realistic physics, and more convincing object interactions where you can see stuff actually collide instead of clipping (e.g. a character's hair interacting with their backs).
They should have stuck with that regime, Layden, Yoshida, etc. The PS4 dudes were the guys to keep, and they replaced them to chase the live service model.

@@MumboJumboZXC To be fair, with the games from consoles going onto PC, it kind of defeats the purpose of selling the consoles at a loss. The whole point of doing that was to get people to get into your games and such.

@@urazz7739No it doesn't. They make their profit on software. Putting the software on more platforms means they can KEEP selling the console at a launch. XBox does so because their software earnings outweighs anything from the hardware sales. PlayStation is huffing their own farts again.

I doubt scalpers will even take the risk. They realize it probably won't even sell well at MSRP.
Sony saw people paying $1200+ for scalped PS5's during COVID and wanted in on that action.
It is kinda those people's fault then, ALL just because it was considered "rare" at that point, something hard to get hold of, so they all paid the earth for PS5, just so they could say - "Look at me, I got one!"
Mainstream people and consumerism are pathetic.
Im Glad Technology is getting better yearly, but Where are the innovative Games or games in general

At what point does chasing high fidelity become a fruitless endeavour? After no one can notice any changes between generations? Because it looks like that's where we're headed
Another issue is that high-fidelity graphics isn't cheap, and so the money put into making a game look extra pretty end up not being used for other things that might have more impact on a game's visual aspects like say animation, or perhaps gameplay prototyping and iteration. And with the power of modern systems relative to their price you'd need an extra expensive system to even appreciate said visuals, all for details the average gamer wouldn't even notice.
Yes when u play fast pace shooter online game like cod on ps5 and ps5 pro you wont literally see massive difference bcoz players focus on fluid 60 fps game on shooter cod rather than graphics.
If you have $700 and you’re interested in the PS5 pro, please… build yourself a gaming PC. It may not be a top of the line PC, but you’ll have access to a massive library of incredible games via Steam and since PC’s tend to be modular you can upgrade your computer gradually over time rather then having to shell out another $700 every time a new console releases. I am a life long console gamer who bought a PC in 2020 (HP Omen with an RTX 2080ti) and It can still play all the new games coming out now on max settings with a solid 60fps, I haven’t looked back.
I guess I was lucky grew up in the 90s, when lots of games and genre defining games were made and played.
