- Creating the ultimate Mini is taking longer than planned but we've made so much progress. In this episode I join Darren to explain the progress on this epic Mini R52 build. The engine is in and running in and the custom exterior is taking shape nicely.

What a build. Darren is a genius and seems to be a really genuine guy that I am sure I could spend hours and hours just talking cars with him. This series makes me think I sold my JCW in haste. I had always thought of converting my wing mirrors to carbon to match my bonnet scoop. I am not so sure about the rear aero but it may look better with the roof down so I will hold judgement until it is complete. Really looking forward to completion and the exhaust routing to either side is on point.
Cheers John 👍
Brilliant. What a fantastic project. Can't wait to see that rear end.
Me too 👍
Darren !!!!!! mad as they come but a truly top guy👌👌👌👌
Oh yes 🙌
This build is something else and the attention to detail looks right up there.
Wait till you see the interior 😜👍
I have owned a few R53/2 with JCW kits. The best intercooler was the M7 style directing the air over the top / across the engine rather than down into it. I also had a M7 Air Gain System induction kit. It shortened the distance to the intake and the sound was amazing. You may be able to track one down.
It’s looking absolutely fantastic and look forward to seeing the finished project
Us too 👍
Love seeing proper car engineering. Brilliant.
👍
@dangreasley ... +1. . Agreed. . Old sckol Tuner Engineering is often hard to find,,, but when found impressive.
What a great update video of this project and series!! It’s coming along great and it looks awesome so far. So glad to hear it run!!!
It’s gonna be awesome 👍
I'm loving it. can't wait to see it finished 👍🇬🇧
Me too 👍
Fantastic update, very well done Darren & PP. Exciting project and exiting times ahead, cannot wait. Cheers guys
Thanks 👍
This episode has given me ideas which I need to have a word with Darren 😎👍😎
Tell him I said hi 😜👍
Darren is working magic with this car.
Will look good for a mini that’s for sure ✔️
Let’s hope so 👍
I’m looking forward to seeing the interior magic too.
Looking great , continued success,, the white one in the back looks mint
Oh yes. It’s epic. Just wait till it has its livery on it. Video coming soon 👍
Coming on nicely 😀
Thanks 😁
Loving this project!
Thanks 🙏🏻
Looks sublime Pete, your video with a first look of the finished article is going to blow the utube universe apart 🎉
Let’s hope so 👍
@@PetrolPed 👍💯%
Love this Pete some trick bits can’t wait to see it hit the road👍😎
Looks like a bit of a MiTo splitter. Great addition to the Mini's face.
Love these videos Pete, plenty of info and great banter 😅
Cheers Legend 👊
It’s going to be epic but just not sure on that blue roof …. quality work !!! 👍🏻🇨🇦
Would love to see the research on the scuttle scoops as there are designs that have the scoops facing forward (like in this video) and others with the scoops pointed towards the windscreen. There are conflicting conversations about if there is air forced in (the setup on this car) vs sucked in due to the negative pressure zone created off the windscreen turbulence (the reversed set up with the scoop pointing back)..
This alteration is more about what happens to the air once it has passed through the scoop, since this is a forced induction engine it doesn't need to be 'scooped' in but the air charge does need to have as little turbulence as possible hence having it drawn through a narrow opening into a void in the scuttle before entering the filter and intake pipe reduces the disruption in the air charge before the supercharger takes over.
It’s a nice build, more than anything it looks like it’s a professional build. Love the side vent bits , would go well on my Mini
They sure would 👍
Always worth the wait! It’s really coming along.
👍
It’s really loving this build , can’t wait for the next one
👍
Can’t wait to see the finished product, it will be worth the wait 👏🏼👏🏼
Us too 👍
Enjoying this build P
Thanks 🙏🏻
Great build so far can’t wait to see the finished article. Makes me think that mine needs to go back to Mulgari to have some more done….any ideas Darren for what’s next on mine???
Go for it!
Really want to see the finished article! Great channel!
Coming soon I promise 👍
Looks awesome so far, very nicely done.
Thank you! Cheers!
Great update, but still no mention of red mud flaps? 🤔👍
Work in progress 😜👍
@@PetrolPed 😂😂
That is looking amazing 👍
Thanks 👍
@@PetrolPed as a R52 owner I’m loving this giving me so many ideas, shame my pockets aren’t big enough for those ideas.
Love the wheels you've chosen. Darren is mad as a box of frogs and mucho funo. PP is going to be one special motor, Pete, just don't drive on the roads around me or you'll have no bumpers!
They are lovely aren’t they 👌
So here's a curve ball. Could you hinge the boot lid from the top??
It would help protect the spoiler and you could ditch the exterior hinges, move the badge under the number plate to hide a new lock.??
That would be a big job 😬
It has crossed my mind along with smoothing the number plate recess and locating it to the centre of the diffuser but time isn't my friend on this build so maybe a future update.....🤔
@@themulgariwizard Thinking that if the spoiler had a metal bar in it, it could carry the boot lid, with pivot points to the side of the mini?
Looks absolutely amazing. Looking forward to the next episode already. Definitely think we shouldn't have sold our JCW convertible😢😢. Would love to know what the budget is and who the lucky owner is!?
We will break that down at the end 👍
😈😈😈 ohh i see a great platform for the older model , running gear ! How fast will it go quater mile 😈😈😈
Evening driver, as the saying goes, if the vehicle is worth doing, spending the time etc will all pay off in the end 👍🇬🇧
Morning 😜
Can't wait to see the finished car.
👍
As much as I love this project I don’t see the need to claim a mass produced body kit ( CSR Automotive Mini R52 Cooper Kit ) as a one of one . I feel if the Guys at Mulgari wanted it to be truly unique they should have adapted the kit to fit the Cooper S Bumper instead of having to use Cooper bumpers .
Don’t get me wrong I love the kit and I love the project and look forward to seeing it all come together
Have to say love the wheels, any chance you might be getting a set?
I’d love some 👍
Just to let you know it’s Winter 🥶 Just followed a gritter on my way back from Aldi. Roads being salted at sea level in November.
Oh wow!
Our roads were gritted last week in North Northumberland (sea level too)
Nice except the rear spoiler, it doesn’t flow.
nice except get rid of the rear spoiler
I'd be changing that radiator - Looks like an EIS Euro Car Parts special - That'll be popping within a year. :)
That’s exactly what we said we would do 🤷♂️
@@PetrolPed Didn't catch the Radiator comments. You were talking about the intercooler on top and replacing that with something custom, but not the actual cooling radiator itself. Apologies if I missed it, having rebuilt numerous R52 & R53s that radiator from ECP is rubbish and they rot out in no time compared to Nissens (As an example).
The rad currently in the car is being for for running up to ensure ALL the contamination from the cooling system has been removed prior to final assembly.
Are the tips in line with the boot hinges?
It sure actually 😬
Pete you have to 3 part that rear spoiler or you will have someone out.
😂😂😂
Hope Darren recovers from his back injury soon!! That Mini is going to be awesome once it's finished.
👍
Evening all!
Hi 👋
I was thinking just delete the rear seats, why carry more weight and spoil the performance / handling
It will look awesome 😜👍
Takes me back to my friends and their original 1275gt minis with buckets and racing harness, no room for rear seats
Hi Peds
Hi 👋
How many rebuild hours in this car so far
More than I can count 😂
A lot 😂
Hi
Hi 👋
at last
I know 😬😂
I could half understand this project if it was a roofed car
Cabs are cool 😎
