I’m glad I eventually sat down on my third start to this game and finally stuck through to the end of the main quest. Gained a lot of appreciation and love for Morrowind, and it’s now my personal favorite of the series (my Elder Scrolls journey has been in reverse starting with Skyrim then Oblivion)
I still like Morrowind, but the combat is the single biggest reason I struggle to get back into the game nowadays. Dealing with early game inaccuracy isn't fun, and even once you get past that I still find the fighting and animations to be more tedious and boring than engaging. It doesn't help that I've gotten super into fast-paced and deep action games like Sifu, Devil May Cry, Hi-Fi Rush, Ninja Gaiden and more over the last 2 years, so I've seen combat systems that start good and only get better the more you understand how they work. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy Morrowind. It still has my favorite Elder Scrolls world to explore, and I hope the next game in the franchise brings back the more complex skills and mechanics while retaining the improvements Oblivion and Skyrim brought. I just find it harder to go back to nowadays.
install Morrowind Rebirth and an animation mod for weapons to breathe some fresh air into the game. Hell, you can mod it to have Oblivion and Skyrim combat rules instead if you want, since no one who loves Morrowind actually thinks the combat is amazing. Or just play a mage, conjuration is goated in Morrowind and you can summon literally dozens of daedra and atronachs at a certain point.
@@TelvanniWizardMoneyGang Thanks for the recommendations! I'm not super into modding, but I'll give it a look the next time I'm in the mood to replay Morrowind.
It takes like 30 minutes of gameplay to level out of not hitting anything and a few more hours of playing and selling treasures to just buy the rest of your weapon skill from a trainer, if you had started a playthrough in the 4+ hours since you wrote this comment you'd be landing 90% of hits by now. What are you talking about?
@@youngkappakhan My problem is that those early hours are annoying, and even moreso that even once you get past the accuracy issues, I just plain find the combat to be boring. It's funny because it's true. I remember playing for hours without saving only to be attacked, and when the battle started going south, I saved in a panic. For the next couple hours all I did was miss. It almost made me rage quit the game that you could so faithfully attack and not know if you're doing any damage at all. I was also a dumb kid that didn't know how to play the game.

I still remember my first experience in Morrowind, i stole a sword and went to fight a small bug near the starting area, i remember taking out my whole stamina bar swinging that glorified knife multiple times while dealing 0 damage to the bug in 20 minutes, just to get killed in 3-4 hits in less than 20s. I thought the game was glitched FUBAR because of that, installed a lot of patches and community fixes just to get killed by the same bug again with 2 hits lmao
You think a skyrim player is going to load up morrowind without a bucket load of mods including probably cheat/OP mods? You are mistaken. That or there are those who may come over from being the hardcore requiem modlist users who are going to be like "How do I make Morrowind massively harder?"
Morrowind is one of the easiest RPGs in the universe, to an extent that just normal vanilla gameplay can feel like cheating, but Skybabies are so used to their RPGs having no actual RPG elements that they get completely stunlocked by choosing/making a class and then having a major & minor skills list instead of a skill tree. I guarantee when a first timer complains about the combat in Morrowind that they are 9 times out of 10 using the knife you get in the Census & Excise office
Nah, man. Even before reading the manual I understood that if I specialized in axes, my character would only be accurate with axes, and probably crap with a sword. It just sucks in the opening hours that you'll still be missing fairly often until your weapon skill is increased enough.
@@Adam-xd9tr If you're old enough to remember when games had manuals, you're probably not coming off of Skyrim, so this comment isn't even about you. It also doesn't even matter what your initial weapon class is. You just invest in crabcoin and can go buy the skills for whatever weapons you want to try. The last playthrough I did I maxed short blade, long blade and blunt weapon. The only one I picked as a major skill was short blade.
@@db4517 Yes. Every Elder Scrolls game, and every Bethesda game for that matter, is shit on some level. What sounds better to you between "unbalanced mess where I can chug 40 alcoholic beverages to kill God in 3 hits while using magic items that let me run at mach speed and fly around like an airplane" shit, or "game dumbed down for console players where I fight spongy enemies with weapons that feel like pool noodles and magic that feels like blowing bubbles and the only viable build is a stealth archer" shit? Absolute dog water game, I cant show up in a foreign land and kill everything in sight. 😔 Can't even use this random weapon I found in a tree trunk by the watchtower just because I didn't choose the axe skill.
The fact that his fatigue takes so long to drain proves he’s the champ
Should have added "Your Hand to Hand Combat Level Increased to Level 2" for the final attack.
No, because you actually have to land hits for the skill to increase
No, because Hand to Hand skill starts at 5
Also he just got off the ship, one attack isn’t going to level the skill up
So accurate it seemed like a regular Morrowind playthrough until the Homerun sound played.
Honestly its pretty impressive that Mr. Satan actually survive being bitch slapped into a mountain by Cell and pretty much only had a bloody nose.
His stamina would have run out way quicker than that
Other than that, 10/10 as always
This was me 12 years ago coming from Oblivion but with the iron dagger vs a mudcrab in the swamp
Missed a chance to have HP drop and acrobatics level up at 1:23
How I fight in my Dreams.
i like seeing chances of hitting going down with fatigue depleting even though they are zero to begin with
Fagoth drained his health without finishing his fatigue first. He's too op to begin with
it's because wood elves aren't people but creatures
Ok, time to play Morrowind as drunk Nord that was tricked by a witch.
I'll help you for 2 points of strength
Make sure Unarmored is a major skill.
"There's someone watching me... I can tell..."
Misc skills: Hand to Hand - 5
Fargoth be like, "Hurry this up, will you?!"
This is absolute Morrowind Vivec Gold.
He and Fargoth became very close...
I was really hoping it would do the whoosh sounds and I was not disappointed
That guy was so hilarious in DBZ. 😂

And that's exactly what you deserve for messing with Fargoth.
Gameplay so unbelievably raw that it doesn't get better than this !
Perfect Fargoth
Skyrim players figuring out that you're apparently supposed to actually be proficient in a weapon if you wanted to hit
Thats me, i was tired. In both worlds.
This was almost exactly how my first experience with Morrowind went... I still loathe that Wood Elf.
Fargoth cycle must begin
When you used console command to get end game gears and still not landing a hit on that lv1 rat or lv1 worm

Its basic RPG mechanics. If you understand proper character building, you can land nearly every hit at level 1.
