Tudor Black Bay GMT Pepsi - It Wears Better Than You Think

  • In this video, I look at the Tudor Black Bay GMT (M79830RB-0001) in Pepsi configuration. I discuss the merits of the watch. Tudor's GMT still offers one of the best values out there for a true GMT movement, which means it has a jumping hour hand.

    I’m a photographer and I’m glad you mentioned the fact that most bloggers use a wide angle lens that distorts the watch and makes it look much bigger than it really is. Thank you for your review!

    • @mybrainlikesthings
      @mybrainlikesthings 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think that argument is overstating the impact of lenses. The photography contributes to but doesn’t define the parameters of the story. It fits or doesn’t fit from personal experience, not because of how it looks in a video.

    You are so right about the size. People also forget, that our wrists are more oval than round. My GMT sits flatly on my wrist.

    I’ve had mine for about 3 months now. Absolutely love it. Bought it new from an AD, no date wheel issues and running about +1 second per day. Really enjoying it and great video!

      Very fortunate to get one that is +1 second. I have a BB Pro now, and it's runnign about -.8 seconds a day, which is fantastic, but I rather have it + than -

      @@horologyprojectman I’ve same Tudor Pro and a Pepsi all are bit on a + seconds special the Pro but don’t care use it abused it man ! If it doesn’t “have huge damage” sent it to warranty 😉 plus better having plus more seconds than 10 less … my Pepsi it’s bit more accurate but man do not be surprised! First compare different watches/calibres etc plus I’ve wear my watches on wright hand some no issues others ( and I mean chronometer spec’s) have much more seconds per day the main thing mate is when power reserve (lower than those great 70+ hours) keeping time spot on even if it’s 5/7/8 seconds besides my other chronometer certified with 3+ or 1- !!!! 😳 now go figure! With some wear the movement if you just were one starts losing more than 2/3 seconds per day ! Than take it to your AD before warranty goes off …
      I’ve bought my Tudor’s at Ads all brand new Pelagos spot on , Pepsi few more seconds no hour issues, Tudor Pro few 7/8 seconds.. and the older one BB Burgundy spot on ! By the way it’s the only one no date so compare it with your app or website “Time is” it’s a web site 😉
      All best man !!!!!
      Have a new Tudor GMT and a Pro no date issue’s ! Bought bought November and late December at AD brand New man !!!!!

    I have 6.5 inch wrist and it really does wear well. In addition, the accuracy and precision is spot on. I bought it last Dec 2023. No issues with the date wheel. I love this watch. It's a handsome looking piece.

    I bought my BB GMT in march 2020 (new) with bracelet and also buy the leather strap and two years later I'm still in love with it. The accuracy is more than impressive, +4 sec. a week wearing it every day, everything works perfectly and I'm really happy with it in every single way.
    I don't care very much what some people say because we know how this works and when someone says something,many just repeat like parrots.
    For example, we see reviews of Omega Planet Ocean or Longines Zulu with measurements even bigger than Tudor and nobody complains about that and with the Tudor GMT, seems that it is the end of the world, in short, little objectivity and little personality.
    Great video and many thanks for sharing with us.

      I agree, a lot of people do parrot information. That's why it's so important to experience the watch for yourself. I hope you stick around. I have more videos coming out.

    I've gotten the BB GMT since day one in 2018. I did have the date issue and was sent in for warranty repair. It has been solid since. I love the fact that the watch is relatively easy to find with a reasonable price tag where I feel comfortable enough to bring it with me on my trips. most of my out of country travels are for leisure only, so jumping into the pool or ocean would be one of the activities. With the 200m WR rating and the muti-time zone tracking, it really is a great travel watch for me.

    I recently went into a AD to try on a BB58. Loved way it fit my 6 3/8” wrist perfectly. Out of curiosity I tried on the gmt and it fit way better than I thought it would. I didn’t mind the height because my daily wearer is a gsar which is another watch that wears better than expected given everything I heard about it. Anyways now undecided on which to get. Great video.

      Right on. I definitely would love to see a bb pro in the Pepsi color way. The thinness of the 58 is hard to beat.

    such a beautiful watch....fantastic.....if you have the right wrist size for it, it's just a great watch....I don't think it's too thick at all, it gives a nice presance on your wrist....the faux rivets, well, you just don't see those anyway, that's just nitpicking....and the missing micro adjust, well, of all my watches with micro adjust I never use that function....I adjust my bracelet so that I can still get the tip of my finger between it and it's fine all day, never too loose or too tight.....for now I have it on the Uncle Seiko jubilee with the original Tudor clasp, looks very cool and vintage

    • @horologyproject
      @horologyproject  ปีที่แล้ว

      There is definitely truth to the bracelet adjustment. I rarely touch my micro adjustment on my other watches as well. I now have a BB Pro. I may get a jubilee bracelet for it. I'm on the waitlist for Rubber B's strap whenever they release it.

    I purchased a 41mm Black Bay with the ETA movement because I preferred the dial text and lack of faux rivets. I do very much appreciate the extra beveling Tudor did on the under side of the GMT case. It gives the illusion of a slightly thinner case, compared to the three handers. I’d still love to pick one of these up someday, and maybe put my Black Bay bracelet on it.

    • @horologyproject
      @horologyproject  ปีที่แล้ว

      I miss my 41mm smiley. It’s great knowing you have a non-rivet bracelet. Those are hard to come by, and would really kick this version up a notch. Thanks for watching my video.

    Thanks for the review. I’ve been thinking of getting either a Tudor BB gmt or a omega seamaster. I haven’t tried anything on yet but the one thing everyone knocks the Tudor is how thick it is. I’m used to thick watches I work as a lifeguard in the summer and I either wear a Casio duro or a g shock. If I get the BB gmt I’ll probably get the Pepsi with the white dial but that watch definitely looks great on your wrist.

    • @horologyproject
      @horologyproject  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They are all great watches. The seamaster isn't too far off in thickeness, but it's overall caseshape is more forgiving.

    It is stunning watch. 7-7.5 wrist size watch size has no issues. The size is perfect in my opinion for me. This is not a watch for small wrist sizes that is how it is. I would have liked with jubilee bracelet but they are not available and AD won’t give a date either I end up getting standard bracelet.

    I have been wearing the Tissot PRX Chronograph (T1374271101100) for a while and don't think 42mm of diameter with 14-15mm of thickness is too big. My wrist is a bit over 7 inches. So as a contrast to other watch lovers, if the Tudor GMT is not available in your country then most likely you could find a Tissot PRX Chronograph as an indicator.

  • @JohnUSA7
    @JohnUSA7 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Compared to the Rolex GMT this Tudor GMT is a great value.
    It lists for $4,375 while the Rolex GMT in OysterSteel lists for $10,700.
    But.... it is a lot thicker and maybe uncomfortable for you to wear, just like I found.
    This Tudor GMT is quite thick, it is 14.6mm thick. The Rolex GMT is thinner, it is only 12mm thick.
    I highly recommend to visit your AD and see this watch in person and then wear it on your wrist and then decide.
    This will be the best way to check if this watch is worth buying or not.
    Good luck.

  • @gackerman99
    @gackerman99 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    it's wearable on narrower wrists, but for actually small-circumference wrists it's still tough because of the thickness. the ratio of the midcase to the crystal massively favors the case and it just LOOKS like a hunk of metal on your wrist and it's a bit silly.

    • @horologyproject

    Originally bought the GMT on a bracelet, didn’t seem to wear so well. Another occasion in the AD i was trying on a heritage then randomly tried the GMT again on the leather, i was sold and definitely wouldn’t part with it. Recently picked up the reverse panda and wish it sat the same as the GMT with that clever underside design to give an elusion of a smaller case thickness. Thanks for sharing 👍

    Brought it twice, sold it twice. Lovely watch but it's very wide at the lugs; the bracelt is very tricky to get a decent fit on 7 inch wrist and top heavy. Hopefully they bring out as a 58 on micro adjust and I'll go 3rd time lucky
