    Here is a simple and cheap technique for moving the steering servo up the front. This is much better than the original setup plus looks cleaner.

    Thanks for the video! Nice upgrade to the steering!
    My P407 has really poor steering as well. Actually it barely turned right. I like to save money so I didn’t order or make a new bracket. The length of the rod between the servo and the steering linkage isn’t the problem. There a couple of issues. One issue imo is basically the more joints you have that has even a tiny bit of play will add up to a big amount of play but what I saw at least in my truck was the servo saver. There’s way too much play. So all I did was removed the servo saver and put a regular servo horn on the stock servo. Because the stock servo isn’t waterproof it’s good that it’s up high and in the box. Huge improvement in my steering. I don’t do competitive rock crawling, just trails and crawling on rocks here and there and it works fine and I only used a spare servo horn I had in the parts bin.
    Keep up the great videos! Love watching them! You do a great job!

    You can move the steering arm to the opposite side of the truck like you tried. Just move the shocks to the opposite side of the axle. That way your steering rod is straighter.

    Great video. The main problem is the wire spring they give you. The wire stretches and doesn't retain it's shape. I just put ca on mine and glued it solid. Most crawlers are solid. You can use a Tamiya Servo saver which works really good on a Bruiser. The shifting servo seems fine for now but I may change it.

    Id be curious to see the difference that just removing the servo saver would make. When you were wiggling the steering back and forth it looked like the majority of the slop was coming from there.

    Do you know with the original bruiser if it’s normal that front wheels won’t spin backwards when it’s in second and top gear. I know that there are one way bearings in the front.but I thought you still can reverse in second and top gear
    Every time need to reverse I have to shift it in to low gear.
    It you can please let me know if this is normal with the original bruiser model

    I bet the stock servo has gear slop from what you have shown. I use Hitec servos in all mine and barely have any movement in stock form. I used a Traxxas servo in my new 2012 Bruiser. I did buy the kit in this HG407 Clone, I'll use a Traxxas servo for steering and shifting.

    It reminds so much of High school days....Almost all the guys had mini trucks..
    We lift it and mount sleeper cap..Late 70's early 80 toyota.
    Center line Rims. The sleepers were for a couple of 12" sub woofers.lol
    The used SR5 were the ones to get ...if you can afford it.
    That's becuase it had a V6 and 4x4 already..So it was easier to do a suspension
    lift.You needed double shocks to handle the over sized wheels and tires...
    Even the tube bumpers were like that too....You install the nurf bar for your GF.lmao
    You;re truck is pretty close to scale..now that I had a closer look.
    The other 4X4 full size people were doing was the 69 March I body mounted
    on a chevy frame.

    I can't believe no one or company has not made a CABLE system , no slop and no bump steer. A cable would look like a hydraulic brake line , not intrusive at all.

    • @RCTanksTrucks247
      @RCTanksTrucks247  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Capo racing does a cable system on some of their crawlers. I guess it more the fact of how much it would cost.

  • @jb3161
    @jb3161 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    you could make another piece like the steel piece that bolts to the knuckle for steering and make it longer to clear the shock,or you could move the shock behind the axle,but if you made the steering arm longer it would get more leverage with a weaker servo.

    I just got mine, and at least on mine, a lot of that slop you see at the end of the video is from the front hubs; the recess for the bearings is too large and there is a lot of play in there. A shim of some type, some guys are using a layer of tape around the bearing, will snug things up nicely.

    *so frustrated*
    There's a much easier bolt on mounting system but I cant find the bracket making templates. It seems the RC community has lost a lot of the DIY bruiser mods in the past 6-7 years since I've been playing with mopeds... there was a template you printed out to scale then trimmed and glues to some aluminum plate then cut out the plate drilled the holes then bent the angles and bingo bango you had two plates that would bolt onto the chassis rail mounts for the front cross member no drilling in the original parts required... I'm still digging. I saw someone selling them on ebay recently

    Great video, thanks very much! Just what I was looking for. I’ll try making a bracket out of some metal I have lying around. I thought I was going to have to order a special bracket but you showed me I only need an “L” shaped bracket which is great. I appreciate your common sense approach to things.
    May I ask, have you had problems with your wheels? With only very light short trips on grass I’ve had two wheels break. The part of the rim where the three screws go through just snapped off, like the plastic is kind of soft or porous. I fixed one wheel by gluing washers to reinforce the holes but this is really odd. The rest of the truck is great so far but haven’t been able to really test it thoroughly due to the wheel breakages.
    Thanks for all your great videos!
