    Really nice to see you showing run times from the battery your using . Very few people elaborate on this . And I think it's actually looking much better now it's got those larger wheels and a few accessories in the bed 👍

      I bought one of these trucks last year and it is great fun. I have been a long time Tamiya fan and actually have a Tundra High Lift in my collection as well. The High Lift design goes back quite a few years now so you have to accept that there will be a few compromises to make in terms of performance but the HG product gives you a lot of truck for your money. I recently made a video of my P417 driving by the river on the Black Sea coast. Check out how it performs by visiting my channel, BlackSeaRC.

    • @adr20sv
      @adr20sv 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BlackSeaRC Great! , I certainly will look after your videos, yeah I know there must be some differences compared to an original Tamiya one, but for the price the HG must be worth a try by a long shot

    • @BlackSeaRC
      @BlackSeaRC 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@adr20sv The electronic components are not known brands but they seem to work okay (although the servos could do with being more powerful). The rest of the truck looks pretty much the same as the Tamiya one. You probably expect to get a few issues for the price but really the cost of the Tamiya product (kit only) is very high!

    I watched every second of the run with keen attention. It seems that you´ve defeated the traction problem with the locked diffs and decent tyres.
    This still leaves the wider question of just what this truck´s "for". It´s no good at finding traction unless hte owner locks the diffs, which leaves me wondering how often I´d use the two higher gears. Rather like my Wheely King, it has the wrong suspension to be a basher, and it´s no rival to an SCX-10, an RC4WD TF2 or an Ascender.
    I think the potential market for this model is partly composed of people like me, who wanted an original back in the day but couldn´t afford one, and people who just appreciate this little RC milestone as an example of 1980s high-end RC engineering. I love it, and think it´s a bargain, too : )

    • @TomleyRC
      @TomleyRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes Del... most of this video was in Low gear, and a few occasions in 2nd... but no need for the high gear. I think you are correct with what this is for... it's for Nostalgia. So much more out there for the same or cheaper.

    Great job on the truck. It's amazing what a simple mod on an rc improves it. Now you should mod the low hanging transmission,lol. I'm just waiting for banggood to sell the body itself so I can mount it on my HG P407,lol. Did you get the 1/6 rochobby mb scaler yet? Curious about your thoughts on it. I really like mine but being I'm already modifying it,I ordered a second to leave in its stock military form,lol.

    This with a few more upgrades or the bruiser? Can't make my mind up.
    I like the idea of a 2wd option for high gear smooth sand tear up with paddle type wheels on back to get rooster tails. Maybe even try to make it drift! Then changing to 2.2s for extra clearance and selecting 4x4 low/med. But I want that switchable 4ws too! Don't want 2 trucks if I can help it, just one to convert depending on action wanted. Fussy bugger 'n' I? 😄
    Ideas would be welcome.

    • @BlackSeaRC
      @BlackSeaRC 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have the same issue with the rear end wandering around. I believe it is because the steering servo is not powerful enough to hold it in the straight position. I didn't try upgrading mine yet though. Alternatively, the kit comes with some spare parts to reconfigure the truck to front wheel steering only. You can see a video of my truck in action by checking my channel, BlackSeaRC.

    Which is better among RGT 86100, RGT EX86010-JK, RGT EX86010-CJ, or RGT EX86110 Pioneer? Please help me bro

    • @heady2008
      @heady2008 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The RGT EX86010-JK, RGT EX86010-CJ are the short wheelbase versions of RGT's latest platform (forward motor and centre transfer case)so presumeably you could buy a spare CJ shell and fit on the JK for a different look. The RGT EX86110 Pioneer is an almost industry standard 313mm wheelbase so there are a huge number of alternative shells available ;later on. Longer wheelbase crawlers are more stable on hills wheras shorter wheelbase rigs turn sharper and are less likely to high centre

    Hey, good vid, errr, and a good channel. I have been a Tamiya fan since 1984 and quite enjoy watch various youtubers and their RC collection. You do have an envious collection of cars i have to say. But........
    I was one of your thumbs down, and i thought I'd explain.
    The main issue i find with trying to make scale car footage look real, is it somehow makes it look even more toy like and fake, mainly because of the exaggerated and quick movements of the car, its the nature of the beast i think. What i was hoping for was maybe in this case was compare the pre upgrade version with the new upgraded vehicle by doing a test drive including something like a steep incline to show off the difference in your upgrades, maybe a speed run to see any difference.
    All i end up doing is after about 10 mins of just driving i speed through to see if anything changes. If you do driving a montage why not mount a goPro under the truck or in the drivers seat?
    Anyway, just ideas and feedback, ignore, delete or change - I'll keep watching and commenting :o)

    • @TomleyRC
      @TomleyRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate you explaining why you thumbs down in the comments. I'd love to do more side by side and in depth videos, but with working 40hrs a week, and being a family man, I get very little time to make complex videos. This has very basic upgrades and throughout the video there were multiple terrain changes. The original footage was 48mins worth, so you got 1/4 of the whole recording. Anyway, like I said, appreciate the feedback 😎👍
