Oh no not the neighbor dog 😂😂
Oh no
I love grandpa. We need more grandpa vids. That jacket is priceless. Reminds me of my great grandpa. He had enough money to were he didn't need to but he wouldn't throw anything away. If he could fix it later or thought he would fix it later. It stayed around.
yep that's my grandfather too
Agreed.
@@goldenrustorbust Sounded like hed said something like What the fuck is wrong with people, without the language or eye roll.
Hell yeh
Because, if your grandpa was like my grand parents, they lived thru a bad depression, it could happen again, (see China Joe)!!!
Damn John, that is one lethal looking piece of history.
Nice work getting it running again and grandpa is the dude 😎👍🇺🇸
I ran one of those back when I was a teen cutting veneer logs the bar pivots for cut angle they are beasts to run
Looks dangerous, fun, and exciting. Pretty cool piece of equipment there. Love the twin pipes!
Back when everything wasn't disposable & built to last. Awesome job getting it going 👏 👍
Those saws are awesome, my brother in law has 6 of em in his collection that he got from his granpa, huge logger family up in the mountains
What a beast of a machine. They don't make em like they used to. Awesome that you got it running.
Looks like a great alternative to the traditional finger removal methods while cutting firewood. I like it
Enjoy these moments with your grandfather, young man.
you gotta love the old timers they're far more knowledgeable than Google
Damn! An old Mal! I had a friend of mine who found one in his grandma's shed back in the day! we messed round and got it to fire! She came out and told us about all the men the thing had killed! So we promised her we would find another use for it! We took the engine and put it on an old go cart frame! It went far faster than you'd want to ride!
2:20 - only Paul Bunyan could operate that bad boy with one arm 😄
My father had one a Remington Mall 5hp. He cut pulp wood for the paper Mills in the 50's
Glad Grand Pa was able to help
Really cool badass saw. Reminds me of my parents old Toro lawnmower, thing was a beast to start. It had the rope you had to wind up by hand just like that.
The Chris Farley impression was spot on
That's awesome. I've never even seen one of those before. It looks like it weighs a ton.
Mall saws were made in Canada. Had one with a 30 inch bar. It was a beast. The fuel ratio was insane!! 16 to 1 i believe.
I was watching Kevins video with the Jeep and you walked in with that chainsaw 😮How can you not subscribe 😂
You got that saw with a little help from your friends! BTW I think the chain and bar actually rotate so the carb stays upright.
I have an idea if you have the time in the future. You could fit the John Deere 440 with off road wheels instead of skis and race it at Cars and Cameras.
Now there’s a race winning idea
Part of me was excited watching the chainsaw run . The rest of me was wincing like a child thinking what happened if that ancient chain decided to snap . Great vid man , looks cold there 🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶
I never thought I'd see a chainsaw with bike handlebars!
awesome!
awesome that you got it running, great part of history and equipment for around the farm
That's the way to show off a piece of history
Congratulations 👏🎉🎉🎉 Officer John
Its Alive Whoot Whoot And A Burnout Smoke Show lmfao 🤣 oh wait thats rhe Exhaust on the chainsaw lmfao 🤣@10:28
I remember when those were on common use. My brothers and I used axes and a cross-cut saw as we were too small to pick one of those up. Interesting to see one again.
always enjoyed the videos with you on JYD, deciced to hop over hear and god that saw is gnarly, i love it
Glad this popped up in my feed, I love these old monsters. If you plan to cut with it use 30 weight engine oil (not 2 stroke oil) mixed with non ethanol gas. Ethanol will eat the coating on the cork float. 3/4 pint (12oz) per gallon. Thick as molasses. If it smokes, you know it's got enough oil.
Dont expect it to rev high, it's a 200cc torque monster. It will either pull the chain throug the log, or pull you through. You can also kickstart it if you have the timing set just right. Search the tube to see. Also, if the oiler doesn't work have the helper pour oil on the chain. Gotta love 40's safety standards.
I wish I could find someone willing to stand on the dummy end of mine. It's fun to fire it up and hear it run though.
dummy end is my middle name lol
The old big two stroke always throw fits in the winter but once they get some heat they run good. The old disston mercury twins are real fun, and heavy. be fun to get one to fit a go kart or three wheeler.
Evening from uk guys and mook hiding with pup somewhere👋 awesome find the old stuff does better than new as if left some new stuff it would rust straight away and probs never run again good 1 over the moon with this 1👍👍
Hells yes. My favorite youtuber posts a new video? Time to grab a Mello Yello and kick back for 20 minutes of shenanigans.
I don't know what's worse the pull rope or the flywheel spinning right in front of your chest
Down by tha river! Sounds awesome.
Another great video! Your grandpa is a cool dude!
That thing is sick…. Love it , very unique
My dad hand an old McCulloch 2 man saw. Fun to work on and equally as scary to use. Both ends are equally fun and scary to use.
That machine is a beast ! Cool video
Love your content,!💪Bring back the mullet 👌
Lol. I just bought one like it. I haven’t had time to work on it yet. I’m glad you got yours started. The one I have you can pull a pin and rotate the bar too. Good luck.
Great work ! I hope you keep it coming. 😃
Just recently came across Kevin's channel when they were working on the Jeep. Saw you carry that into the shop so I had to subscribe
The old man at the end is my gpa to the T. Great video
Excellent video John :) also my one neighborhood neighbor had Chainsaw 2 person with 2 cylinders with 2 carbs Bombardier 400 Cubic Inches plus 2 exhaust plus had handles from Rottieler with throttle and emergency kill buttons! 2 cycle fuel run 89 or 91 octane gas mix and big 5 gallon fuel tank to steel one ! But cutting bar big for sure too and you had have muscles to run it also 2 different directions cutting bars run north to south or east to west ! Plus had big oil tank for bar oil hold too ! I tried out to and was wild but after 8 hours run need shower to wash up too and cream on body ache muscles Lol!
After being sent this photo by Kevin to help identify the saw, asked him about your channel and here I am!
My neighbors dog does that always In my own yard and won't shut up because I'm in my yard she lives again nice runs pretty Smooth
Just simply amazing content, u need your own show!
Love that old saw .
I'm in Davenport too
Dude that thing is bad ass glad to found this channel
Bro, you're on your way to 25k subscribers!!!! LET'S GOOOOOOOO!!!!
That think is sick and that ole fella definitely knows how to sharpen a saw!
My old boss had a bunch of these. Big saws that'll make a man out of ya!
I loved where you made the funny noises
About your saw. Remove the 4 bolts holding bar and chain, turn bar sideways and now you're cutting trees down. It is set up now for cutting downed trees.
I have a Mall a few years older like yours but with the sprocket bar which runs through a pipe which makes an almost circle like a giant brush bar. And instead of chain tightener on end mine has oil tank and oiler button.
That saw is wicked cool!
Dont wanna run the chain that tight. Gonna wear the bar extra fast.
Just saw you on juke yard dig channel had to come check out the big boy chainsaw
Yes it has no hours Onit that's probably because people were too afraid to use it although it is pretty cool great video thumbs up.
That's Awesome!👍👍
There may be a way to turn the bar 90* for telling trees. That way you would hold the saw the same way and cut horizontal. The way it is now works for vertical cuts. On there lower right side of the gear box it looks like there is a plunger like the one to adjust chain tension. It may pull out to let the gear box rotate.
Back on the farm we had an old Homelite 721. This was a 7 hp engine that weighed 21 lbs. Without the bar and chain. It had a 36 in bar. It was a grunt to use, but for cutting blocks of a log it was hard to beat. Getting it picked up and set on the log was the hard part, once there the weight did all the work. I liked it for that. For felling trees one of the newer lighter saws was easier for that.
there is a pin I found that allows you to turn the blade thanks for the comment
Reminds me of "Keys to the City" with a chain. Toatally cool
What a awesome saw sounds mean too love it
Love your videos very good job
Nice!
Dude that one cool lookin chainsaw
It's interesting how the chain tension is the responsibility of the second man, If he gets wacked in two I guess it's on him. Crazy
That's a nice truck.
That's a cool looking chainsaw
Good job, John!
I'm pretty sure hand tool rescue did a rebuild on one of these about a year ago really good video. And congratulations on accidentally finding one of his top most wanted devices on his list
John, you're doing great work. I'm glad you cut some wood with the saw. I really think you should have gone the rest of the way, Find out some information about it and then see how much it's worth. That's how you differentiate yourself from most of the other channels you mentioned. I'd like to see this channel become about flipping junk for profit, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. Granpa is great, you'll want him in more videos, to look back on down the road.
That saw is cool yet terrifying all at the same time.
Cuts are a little rough still but, every video is an extreme improvement from the last. Full send my dude!
Love the editing style.
You can rotate the bar 1/4th turn too ! My grandpa had a few of them !
Keep them cool videos coming
Had one of those that was military surplus. Didn't know they made a model for public sale.
The bar should be/is able to turn 45 degrees for felling trees. Guess it would beat using a hand saw to knock down palm trees.
What a cool saw.
Buddy has one like that. we have run it at several vintage saw events. one mean hunk of iron for sure lol don't even ask what chain costs for them :D Watch your oil mix the old saws need a fairly heavy mix. originally it was 3/4 of a pint of sae 30 to a gallon of gas
Nice saw
Congratulations bro I liked subscribe wish you guys the best!
After hearing about the channel on Junkyard Digs, I spent an evening searching for a channel called 'Golden Russian Bus' saw some cool vids.
LMAO thats amazing im now looking up golden Russian bus
That's a pretty hefty chainsaw. Need to sharpen the blades for sure!
Gotta be the dullest chain I ever seen. It seemed you wanted to pull it back and forth a little like a hand saw. 😁
My uncle used to tell me stories about him and his brothers using a big Mall saw. Said they'd cut through 5 logs then need to switch out. But there was like 7 brothers and sisters so they kept going lol
Loved bro! Keep an eye out for a diesel saw! Would be awesome to see one again! My great grandfather had one and boy let me tell y'all something 😅🤣
It’s about time! Just kidding man I’m just glad to see more videos from ya
13:00 best chainsaw impression ive ever heard😂
Was that an old Elvis move John did ?? Ha ha ha... OMG, hilarious. "Ohh Heyy..... !!!" "Thank you, thank you very much...."
john bro i love you dude keep up the good work bro
John love the videos
Hey John it’s me Elijah again really excited for more content
After you got it idling I could smell this video 🤣
Have grandpa sharpen it and let's go cut a real big log in 1/2 that was made for a huge trees . Seen those in action when I was young.
Well Gramps knows what to do and how to do it. The young bucks just want to jump in and start cutting and hippity hoppity hoo they're ready to jiminy cricket all about! LOL. Gramps is ready to sharpen the cutting teeth and oil it up then tell them how to use the thing but nope. LOL. Love the man! Great old machine too! I would think it would work best just like modern ones when you are supposed to rock the blade up and down as you're cutting similar to a see saw type action.
i love your vids
Your hair looks way better dude, good job!!!
