Also you have an AWESOME Grandfather!
We should all try to get this man to 100k
That would be wonderful
@@goldenrustorbust It's a good channel with good content.
Thank you I appreciate that
Nice job brother 🏍️. Keep em Coming. 😎
Good to see you came back I hope you keep coming back more!
Good to see the legendary 'Stache is back. You're like the Gallagher of small engines. It's always entertaining and you do great work.
Grandpa is So Frickin Awesome 👍
That little 50cc is probably like the one that Fortnine was talking about, with the "war reparations" German 2 stroke technology. Very cool, it seems like it runs along pretty well for such a small engine.
Puch is Austrian, so war reparations I don't think applies to countries occupied by Germany.
Great find John. I'm pretty sure someone will offer you more than you paid for that $50 motorcycle!
John, the look on your face when you got the $100. You can see the wheels spinning - make an easy $50 and avoid the hassle or keep the bike to make a video. Also, you lied about the eggroll.
Lol your right about both 🤫🤣
better profit can make clean, restore and sell.
Steel wool for the top of the headlight housing
Dude you deserve more than 12k subscribers. Congrats on getting it running and taking it for a blast. You might find Puch parts easier in Germany or elsewhere in Europe. In 1977/78 they had Puch mopeds in the window of a local cycle shop in Liverpool that I'd stare at as a kid. Looks like the little fella will outlast Sears. PB Blaster can't save that one. Good luck for your channel in the future. 👍
It will run !
Keep pumping out videos we love the content.
That is such an awesome dog. Reminds me of my Sandy girl (2001-2014).
I’m sorry for your loss always hard losing family pet
@@goldenrustorbust Thanks, she had a good life, ate lots of bacon and got lots of walks for ice cream. Still miss her though.
Don't get caught by the cops! I think you'll be ok there kid! lol
I genuinely hope you get to live the dream and can make enough doing this to make it your main job.
Your assistant has some pretty heavy breathing. Must be very excited about the project
Good job! I haven't seen one of those in a long time. Good to keep them running.
I was 11 the last time that thing ran. Damn I feel old!
Me too and me too!
LOL I was negative 19 years old
@@M.TTT. You weren't even in your pops sack for many many years.
Cracking find there John and a sound decision about its future. Looking forward to more vids.
i love the panting doogos in the background lol. love the grandpa too brother , love your vids
Great to see you back on the "tube"!
Awesome project!
Shout out to grandpa for his great story!....regards
Fun video, I'd say keep and restore, rare, and gangster riding a funky 2 stroke, from Australia 🇦🇺
That Puch looks very similar to the ones the GPO (General Post Office) used in the UK back in the 70's for the telegram boys (effectively they were apprenticed on telegrams before becoming postmen), theirs were slightly different in that they had a twist grip handlebar change for the 3 speed gearbox and also were fitted with pedals (a quirk of british driving licensing law, at 16 you could drive a moped being powered by either a MOtor or PEDals), my mate worked as a telegram boy and they loved zooming around on their Puch's delivering telegrams.
Yes, well remembered! The GPO bought 3,000 to replace the aging pre war DKW designed copy, the BSA Bantam D1 & D3s?
Even though only 49cc they went as well as the 5bhp Bantam 125cc...
Another great video. For $50 bucks that thing was a steal.
i buy young men old moped 50cc and drive home to work many year, 300$ moped cost, and forget bike to garage ower 10 year, then take out, restore all, paint, all new parts what need and run perfect, and sell this 2400$ and customer say has cheap many same bike has normal today 4000$ cost. old bike.
Go handle-bar mustache.
You've got the best revival channel on youtube. Keep up the good work.
It wasn't the same without you (and the traffic cone) being with Kevin at Kansas City Speedway in his last vid
Awwe thanks I’m definitely going to make it next year
Great find. Cool piece overall. Glad to see it buzzing along once again.
I bought a 1966 puch allstate 250 last November and got it running a few weeks later. There is a website you can get all new parts for these, which I've had to use to get ignition components. Anyways om typing this less than 3 minutes into the video and for $50, you did excellent and I wouldn't have passed it up either.
Funny to see a Austrian made moped get a revival in Iowa after you get it for $50. Once again, well done John, keep up the good work! Cheers from France
Thanks man 😁
Great to see you back 🙂. Cant go wrong with a $50 purchase. The look on your face when you said 'nice and wet' lol priceless
That's a neat old bike. I really enjoyed seeing it come back to life. Keep the videos coming ol buddy.
Glad you didn't take the $100 dollar offer and you brought this bike back to life 💪🇺🇸
Had the moped version of this bike mid 60's model.
total freedom for a 10 yr old kid
found in a garage in boxes bags and envelopes
flat tires
down into the basement dead of winter
my parents thought it would never run so why worry
the smell of two stroke mix will be my favorite aroma till i die
Lol, missed seeing you on the KS. Speedway trip...you are the life of the party!
Vinegar reacts fast with metals. I know because I use it to restore vintage electronics with alkaline battery leaks. I would not recommend leaving it sit still for that long. I'd pour in the vinegar, and slosh it around with marbles for 15 minutes or so, then neutralize it. It's an acid/base chemistry.
Great video, and always love grandpas stories and vast knowledge on some other videos!!! It really is a cool bike and would like to see someone do a restoration on it to properly preserve it.
Cool little bike. Looks like something I'd try to resurrect as well. Glad you got her going!
My guy, fantastic video! Thank you for keeping the old 2 wheel moto's alive. I love these types of videos!
Note the dogs are always hanging around, dog people are the best people, good luck with the bike, you will eventually win 😁😜
Don't hammer on the piston, that's a noob way to damage the top end's needle bearings.. Best way is to put the head back on and fill it with heavy transmission oil so that there's no bubbles and then fit a longer but same diameter sparkplug into the sparkplug hole, (brimming full with oil, you don't want any air in the cylinder..) and then slowly screw it in and watch the flywheel to see if it starts turning. Run the sparkplug in and out slowly enough that it cycles the piston up and down to break it free. Same thing when hammering on the flywheel you could end up damaging one of the magneto coils Use the wrench on the flywheel and oil in the cylinder and you wont end up trashing it.
Hey thank you very much for the comment I’ve never heard this method but it completely makes sense it may be more time consuming but less risky like you said 😁
Good job on keeping up with videos again man. It always put a smile on my face to see you coming back and kicking ass.
Keep up the great videos. This is the first i have heard about this bike and i'd love to learn more about it. I wanna see more unique bikes just like this. Thank you John!
I love the moving method. A few years ago I sold my 1973 Honda 350 Four to a few young guys that came in an SUV. We got it in there, same way you did 😆
Great stuff as always. Thanks for posting it
i like how you do it all your self
i do the same, tire change was nice to see you do it all
Fun video! Next time you clean the tank out with vinegar, immediately rinse it out with a mixture of baking soda and water; that will prevent the flash rust that appears after the metal gets exposed to any acid
water soda and battery charger or other power supply, best and only good style clean tank inside. elektrolyse
thats a 50cc moped. we have lots of puch engines here in finland and sweden too.little bit portjob on that cylinder and you can get lots of speed
my old "pappa"/"grandfather" moped i make mod and speed increase 80KM/hour. lot old small moped.
You should get one of those small motorcycle haulers that you slide into a reciever hitch it just looks like a rail that you roll the wheels of the bike into sideways across the back of you vehicle. They're not very expensive or if you have a welder you could probably make something with scrap metal. Then tou just ratchet the bike down and you're good to go, better than hauling a dirty bike in the back of your car.
You got a DEAL! I have never seen one this clean unless it has been restored. The Puch bikes are going up in price. They were made to run forever. Basic transportation.
Great Find. I bought my first cycle in 1969 a new Sears 125 Puch same colors as yours from the catalog, around about $275.00, I think. Mine had a cup for measuring the 2-cycle oil built in the gas cap. Good luck with it.
So glad to see another video!
Back in I think 78 or 79, my neighbor had one of those Sear Puch mopeds with I think the same engine. However it didn't use 2 cycle oil, it said on the tank, and on the frame in 3 or 4 different places to use straight SAE 30 oil. It also had a measuring cup in the tank lid + a small 1 liter/quart fuel can under the seat. You would put oil in the fuel can, fill it with gasoline, shake it up then pour it into the in frame tank.
Thats a very cool ride.
Just awesome bud cool bike that's the stuff I love cheap last minute deals on "junk" lol 😅
I've got a 58 Puch 250. That would look good next to it.
Those Puch(Pooh) motorcycles were also made under license in ex Yugoslavia (Slovenia) as Tomos Colibri t12. Great little bikes.
I just wanted to mention that some of those old bikes the mix cap was meant to apply per quart of gas. Might not matter with todays oil. Enjoy your videos!
It's probably Quadrangle.
She turned out to be pretty spunky finally. Could tell this was recorded over a period of time just by watching the hair journey LOL.
I had a Puch moped many years ago-looks like the same engine-cool!
most popular moped engine in europe before has.
Thats a Puch in UK, was the first bike I had and I still miss her :( and your grandpa is Willie Nelson !
I found one similar in the 80's. It was one of the fastest "mopeds" around.
Hey John, it's great to see you and your grandfather again. Nice job on the old bike, hope you get a good price for it.
Come on now bro, you ate that egg roll didn't ya😁. Look forward to the next episode, keep up the good work .👍🔥🔥🔥
That moves right along!!
Puch is a German brand, uses metric fasteners, and is pronounced a pook. Great job!
Its an Austria brand. 😁
@@bsbhomebrew I stand corrected. Puch is indeed an Austrian brand. They still exist today in the form of Steyr-Puch, but mopeds they make no longer.
Pronunciation 101 for English speakers:
Say poop but end with a guttural ggg.
To loosen the throat growl like a bear and have a cold beer ready for lubrication after.
Groeten from the Netherlands, the absolute masters of guttural consonants.😏
😂😂
Her asking if you need her help guaranteed you wouldn't
Very cool bike!! I think it’s cool the way it is personally.
Always love your content.
It looks a lot like my first Honda 70- that I learned on in 81.
German ! Puch made a lot of motors for snowmobiles. Puch is a good dependable motor. They made them little bikes for many stores.
Austrian, not german.
Good video John, I was looking for you in Kevin's NASCAR trip.
Yeah I missed it this year but I’m gonna be there next year
Wow John You Could have Hurt your Junk Trying to put the Puch in the Trunk LMAO 🤣 I know hatch technically but it don't Rhyme 🤣 Good to see a new video 👍
You most certainly got ur 50.00 dollars worth, yes its a good restore bike candidate!!hope that was empty beer you sprayed that brake clean near or ur beer might be slightly toxic!! Not that you would notice except for that extra large hangover feeling!!have fun with ur scoot n boot bike.snooky pa.😊😊😊😊
Awesome video John.....Love it!!❤
Thanks mom
That’s a cool old moped. I remember that model back in the 70s when I was a kid
3:05 that’s going to make that lower back feel great my man lol
New here, saw you on JYD channel helping with the Mustang II. 👍🙏
Happy you made it 😊
Sweet bike! Nice work!
I think it's pronounced "PUCK". So sweet though. There is nothing like that around here .. not within a 3 day drive.
My first ever motorbike was 50 bucks, a Honda CB100n...and it included a helmet!!
awesome deal!
BB’s Work better in those tanks with the vinegar. Shake them around in it knocks all the flakes off.
YES, GROB is back!
Till Next Time My Friend I noticed a New Pup Name? And at the end could it be the Return of the Mullet Lol 🤣
Cool old bike and the revival was great and all but what I really need is for you to solve the mystery of the missing egg roll.
I ate it…… don’t tell Megan 🤫😂
Excellent video John :) also would put 90 octane gas with oil plus grey bottle of STP Total Treatment fuel injection and carb cleaner in fuel tank full each month and rare one this I remember hearing about them back ! 1977 is 47 years and that long time sitting around not seized tight amazing me bet because never seen Ethonal fuel 90 octane gas has no Ethonal % ! Gas back 1977 years before had lots lead in gas back and cleaner fuels too!
Is that a Puch? Ok yup you just called it a Pooch. Sears had a really interesting Puch (pronounced pook) motor in the 60s called a twingle. I'm dying to find one.
I wish I could like this video twice.
pronounce europe PUKH
A friend had one back in school, 50cc was the largest legal size you could use so he upgrade his to 70cc and parked it my house when the police came and did inspections at school.
Been a while! Love it man
First time watching, really enjoyed the video❤
Thanks for the comment and I’m glad you enjoyed 😁
Solid deal
Hi
This i a moped in europe, and this model would be a puch Texas! And you would have to pay atleast 1000$ for it in that condition!
For a few bucks, it’s a great little run about 😁👍
Not a bad motorbike after all👍
Downhill with a tailwind I bet you could get it up to 70
Remember when I was younger small towns used a truck with a mosquito sprayer/ fogger. Two stroke fogger!
if fog lot has too lot oil at tank. need mixing gas and oil only 2% oil to gas.
In that state not running it’s worth easy 1000$ in Denmark. 😮
same Finland, and good condition restored cost today 3-4000$ i buy my old moped 300$ and drive many year home to work this.
