I went in for my yearly physical & found out I was in stage 3 kidney failure & that I have about 15 years left. I had NO IDEA!!! They retested me after a month of drinking lots of water and no longer taking Excedrin Migraine. My numbers went down and I was out of kidney failure by one point. It's been another year and I'm about to get them tested again. Wish me luck! 🍀

I started getting the symptoms you describe years ago. I TOLD my doctor about them and he blew it off. I gained a lot of weight, then lost 60 pounds in a month without trying. The doctor said “tell me how you did this. I need to lose weight, too!”. While he was on vacation, his replacement told me I had diabetes. The regular doctor NEVER tested my blood sugar! I’m stage 3 CKD now. The “old” doctor retired before I found out. I C went to a nephrologist and now HE is blowing it off like I have nothing to worry about. They all failed me. Even if someone listens now and tells me what I need to do to live a few years longer, it’s too late. Start keeping an eye on yourself young, don’t think doctors know what they’re doing for you, they don’t. Lay off salt and processed foods. Watch TH-cam. You’ll get better information.

It is not too late. Do your research and study the foods that can help you with your kidneys. Also, we only need one kidney to survive so if you do your research you can find the countries where you can get a kidney transplant ( might be expensive but this is a major life saver) good luck and may God bless you!

Im sorry this happened to you but this is dangerous and terrible advice. If anyone feels like their doctor is irresponsible they should get a new primary care provider and also seek second or third or fourth opinions. I do my own research and if my doctor doesn’t acknowledge it then I know they don’t do their job bc patient education is something a good medical student learns next to good bedside manners.

@@aarbar6615 that’s terrible, I’m sorry you experienced that. Every one should have decent healthcare wherever they are. That said, I’d take a 15 hour wait if it gave me what I needed for peace of mind about my body/health. But I’m also a black woman who has to navigate healthcare knowing no one will advocate for me as much I will and that there are enough systemic biases that are finally being addressed in medical schools about the inequitable care given to certain groups. Best of luck to you in your journey.

I went to see the eye doctor and she said, my blood pressure was affecting my eyes as well. So, I was put on lisinopril. I put on about 40 lbs in the last three years. Hi,
I don't know you, but would you please ask your Doctors to order Liver Function tests to see if your liver enzymes are raised.
You complain of itchy skin, borderline diabetes and right sided pain?
Right quadrant pain along with those other symptoms may indicate a liver issue.
I am NOT a medical professional but had all of your symptoms and was subsequently diagnosed with deranged liver enzymes.
There is also a link between liver disease and high blood sugar.
The liver is highly resilient to repeated insult- up to a point. So again please go and get that tested along with your kidney function to at least rule it out.
      Blessings

I learn to walk, swallow, write my name, all but stepping up stairs. Still a challenge. But my kidneys are my problem now. I traded 1 thing for anouther. I strongly agree with Joanna! This was a thorough yet simple & detailed explanation of kidney disease! For me, it was presented in language that I could understand. My doctors attribute my case to the contrast used during diagnostic imaging for a colon cancer diagnosis 5 years ago. That contrast is quite toxic to the kidneys. My lab work has revealed a stage of kidney disease between 3 & 4. So now I’m on a strict, ‘No Sugar Added’ diet in the hopes of stopping it in its tracks. I’ve heard that Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) can’t be improved or cured but it can be stopped from progressing. Thank you for your informative video.

Back in the mid 90’s I had a sports doctor that had prescribed me Naxin Naproxen 500mg's for 1.5 years for my carpal tunnel syndrome which had caused 50% of my kidneys to malfunction. Just this year after doing much research, I started taking Pure Premium kidney repair pills 500mg, vitamin K2 MK-7 500mg & vitamin D3 1000IU, 200mg Co Q-10 and 100mcg Selenium or you can eat 3 Brazilian nuts for Selenium. If you incorporate this with eating low sodium and low sugar foods with fish and white meat I ended up bringing up my EGFR from 51 to 62 in just 3 months! I even included a cheat meal once a week having a red meat meal and my EGFR still went up 11 points in just 3 months! I hope this will help you and others trying to bring up their EGFR! What I had found really good is I always had a fruit smoothie first thing in the morning "strawberries, pineapple, 1 scoop of Subi Greens or Red Beet powder mix" and my first meal was always one whole egg, ¼ portion/mini carton of egg whites from Costco, green onions and 2-3 slices of low sodium turkey cut up in a scrambled egg with a handful of Jasmin rice which is light and easy on the kidneys. My other 2 meals will always consist of a handful of carbs/protein and lots of steamed vegetables in the last 2 meals and I know that had also contributed to bringing up my EGFR.

Very interesting video. I also have CKF and experienced some of those symptoms and had no idea my kidneys were failing. Probably was failed at the point of symptoms anyway as Dr. Omole explained. Mines came at the age of 32 from complications at child birth from my youngest child. I went into Pre eclampsia. Blood pressure elevated while in labor. I am now on dialysis for35 years now. I read in a comment the doctor told him he had 15 years left. Doctors can not predict that. It is not a death sentence. Yet it hasn’t been easy. Also changed my life completely. My doctor overlooked everything which could have possibly avoided kidney failure. Therefore the doctors advice in this video is excellent When your body is telling something, listen. Request these test she recommends Stay aware and be proactive. Don’t wait till it’s too late. Thank you for this video which is so on point

Regardless of age you can absolutely improve this; do what you can by taking supplements (b1 thiamine, magnesium citrate, d3 k2(mk7) and research others, cutting out all carbs, sugar, potatoes bananas, initially then later allow 2 slices white bread or Ioz white boiled rice daily, drink water and green tea/lemon, Get regular blood tests 6weekly, to monitor your progress. Hearing you state the signs he is also very itchy and his skin is flaking profusely like if he had dandruff coming off his skin. 😭 I too have noticed I’m itchy and I have bumpy patches in different parts of my body like a rash but I don’t know if my kidneys are bad I am certainly going to ask my doctor to run those tests on me and have his doctors run all the tests on him as he is a diabetic and has high blood pressure as well along with having several strokes and a heart attack.. thank you so much for sharing I Pray you are doing good.

I agree with Joanna Davis, the best presentation of issues regarding kidneys. I have most of these signs and do regular blood check. Fortunately everything is just starting now, but it is right what you say, all the pain you are suffering is whort, because you do a fantastic job, explaining what brought you to dialysis. I have a couple of friends in dialysis, same age of me (60) and I know how change life. Unfortunately we do not put that much attention in early signs and the damages are getting more every year. This video should be used in schools, teaching to youngsters to take care of themselves. Health is the primary value we have and goes together with time. All the rest is not so fundamental. One healty person can do anything… all my best to you.
    And thanks, really thanks.

Thank you for making a video about this; reading through medical websites about the subject is overwhelming. My dad has been in the hospital for a month with congestive kidney failure. He had all the risk factors and displayed all the symptoms but chose to ignore it for years. Based on the descriptions you gave, I don’t know how he dealt with all of that for so long.
