I'm not sure that you've ever had a kidney stone. I've passed over 80 and have had seven lithotomies for impacted stones, I'll tell you the difference: Back pain is positional. Generally there will be a position that does not hurt or does not hurt much, another that you can feel the pain ramping up, and a position that is unbearable. 600-800mg of ibuprofen may help with the pain. That is preferable to having an impacted stone. Stones are not positional. When the ureter discovers a stone jammed in place and begins to go into spasms in an attempt to dislodge it, the pain is incessant and nothing will stop it until the ureter gets tired or the stone moves a bit. OTC pain relievers will do nothing, only narcotics will, outside of a hospital. The pain from such a stone is much, much worse than back pain. It's like having the unbearable back pain but for hours at a time.
Good video. One more thing that I would add as someone who suffers from occasional kidney stones is that kidney stone pain, at least with me, also has an added pressure like an intense feeling of needing to urinate that does not occur with normal back pain (which I also have sometimes). Kidney stone pain presents an uneasiness that will not allow you to be comfortable in any position.
Do you feel this pain in your groin? It says "toward your bladder" in the video; I have pain that has been consistent for over 6 months that goes around my iliac crest and down my groin, as well as my back. Sometimes high up on the right side. Thanks!

Good question @gillroygarlic3616. Just based on the location, it can be back pain especially if it occurs with bending or straining. But you have to consider the other symptoms as well to have a more definitive diagnosis. I hope this helps.
I will need more information to be able to answer your question better @KolmanDavid-ht7sm. Did you have trauma directly to the area I mentioned in the video? Are you drinking enough water regularly? I've had kidney stones that I felt on the left side of my lower back, and it felt like someone rabbit punched me. Now, my left flank started aching yesterday, and has not stopped. It aches just at the bottom of my ribs, and it's this sharp/dull ache that does not go away. It's hard to tell if there is a muscle inside that I strained, but it feels different than muscle related. What could this be?? Also, I'm exhausted all the time, and I urinate quite frequently, but no painful urination. I just don't want to overreact is all.
Good question @mydejavooo1. I suggest going to the doctor get a consult. From the symptoms you mentioned, it does not sound like a muscle or back strain. Usually back strain does not go up to the rib cage area. Kidney issues can refer pains like that. And the frequency of your urination also points to that even without pain. I hope you feel better.🙏
@@restorepluspt Well, here we are, a week after I posted those symptoms....and it has not gone away. In fact, it now keeps me up at night. It is 100% in my left kidney, sadly. I was in hopes it would just go away on it's own, but it has not. The only thing that provided any relief is a heating pad on low/medium heat. I haven't had any fever, so that's good. But I will be doctor bound tomorrow. Thank you for your insight. 👍 😃
@@mikeanthony9092 Not as of yet, my friend. I'm trying to push this out as much as I can (within reason). I'm sorry you're experiencing the same deal, because kidney stones suck. No 2 ways about it. A heating pad will help with the pain, and make sure you're drinking lots of water. The first stone I had they had to go in and break it up. Worst 2 weeks of recovery in my life. I'd love to tell you that it doesn't hurt....but I don't want to lie to you. I've talked to so many women that have had kids and kidney stones, and they would rather have more kids than stones. Apparently they CAN pass on their own, which can take upwards of 30+ days. It's just unpleasant. If it gets bad, or if you develop a fever, go to the ER. I did the first time, and they scheduled surgery for the next morning. So be mindful, and take care of yourself. I will update you on my end, and I'd love to hear what happens on yours. Take care! 🙏
@@jetdean2024 pain in front of the leg can also be because of low back pain. If you are referring to the front part of the body such as the flank or the abdomen, that is not because of the back.

@@TangoCharlieAlphaany up date I have same issue 😢
Take care! 🙏
@@TangoCharlieAlpha thank u 🙏🏽
Yes i have lower back pain in the right based on the symptoms you have mentioned!
Lower back pain numbness in toes, chill blains asbwell n.
Hi @INDYEAH. Low back pain along with numbness on the toes usually is from a back issue.
@@restoreplusptwith additional right front pain as you mention? What is it?
@@jetdean2024 pain in front of the leg can also be because of low back pain. If you are referring to the front part of the body such as the flank or the abdomen, that is not because of the back.
Thank you
You're welcome @norahglavin5226!♥
I was sleeping then one day, my left side hurts and when walk I have to walk slowly because it hurts, what are the causes of this pain I hope u answer soon.
I'm sorry to hear this @ChubbyYujiPlush. I will more information to give you a clearer answer. What caused the pain? How did it start? What makes it worse? What makes it better?
My pain is gone now but thanks for asking me, if I get it again I’ll know the right signs😁
@@Gokustare Great to hear this! I wish you the best.
Thanks alot I am also suffering from back pain for so many years and I was worried of my health
You're welcome @BaiMary-n1q. I wish you the best.🙏
doc, I stretched my back while sleeping and then when I woke up I got pain in my lower back right side close to buttocks, on the 1st day it was mild and tolerable, but on day 2 and 3 it's painful already and I took pain relievers. this is my day 3 now, what to do? 😢
I'm sorry to hear this @corazon1873. It sounds like you pulled your back. I suggest suggest icing the back to help with the pain and using heat if it feels tight. Using OTC anti-inflammatory can help as well. Feel better.🙏
thank you........doc.....

Please doctor can kidney cyst cause this of symptoms of the lower back pain on one side
Hey @lyndadonikeagwuana-tc7hp. Yes that can happen.
4 min of waste of time
it could be this or that or go see doc or who knows
I farted and coughed and then my lower back hurt, I'm twisted to the right side and It hurts to raise my left leg. Is this kidney stones
Hi @mikemichaels2914. The symptoms and the nature of how you got the pain seems more like back pain. I hope this helps.
So the pain is below the ribs?
yes @bm421. Both conditions can have pain below the ribs.
during pregnancy is it normal to have lower back pain
Good question @rachellemusnit910. I would not say it is normal because normal for me is you should not have pain. I would say it is common and it can be expected because of the hormones and other changes in the body.
If am feeling pain at the lower side of my breast and my back what is it call
I'm sorry to hear this @SandraEnang. Kidney problems can cause the pains that you mentioned more so than the back. If it gets worse, I recommend seeing a specialist. I wish you the best.🙏
thank
You're welcome @cuspdlumolaeh!
I’m having pain on my left side after I shower ?
I'm sorry to hear this @Notrealmangooooo. I will need more information and clarity on your question.
What if im experiencing both? 😭
I'm sorry to hear this @hyannamusic. Sometimes it does happen that the symptoms you feel are not very specific. In this situation, I suggest ruling out the more serious problem which in this case is the kidney issue. I suggest checking with your doctor for further evaluation and testing to rule that out. I wish you the best.🙏
@@restorepluspt thank you so much. If its okay to ask doc, may I ask if who’s the best specialist to go to in this case?
@@hyannamusic the specialist for the kidney is called Nephrologist. For the back, the specialist can be Orthopedist or Neurologist. I hope this helps.
I feel on both back sides starting from the last 3 rib it's gonna worse on the left side after doing some work while sitting and standing n not gone 😢😢
I'm sorry to hear this @emptiness1014. The symptoms you described seems like it is back pain. But it is hard to tell for sure without more information. If it has not gone away in a couple of weeks, I suggest seeing a medical professional. I hope you feel better.🙏
Thank you so much @@restorepluspt
Good 👍
Thank you @CureKidney!🙏
I have a question
I have pain which is still undiagnosed by docs docs said its muscular and gastruc pain nothing else
But from few months i have pain in my lower left ribs that radiates to my side breast area, collar bone and arm. Than sometimes it radiates downwards in my back area, kidneys area, pelvic area. I am so confused and worried what type of pain is this can you guide plz.
What tests i should go for r should i go for Ultrasound?
I'm sorry to hear this @sarahmalik3829. Since your pain is diffused and vague, I would consult your primary care doctor and he/she will coordinate with other specialists to diagnose the problem. You may have to go for tests such as CT scan or US depending on what your doctor thinks is appropriate. I hope you feel better.🙏
Can binge drinking cause kidney pain
Yes it can @12mach.
Put “stones” in the title. There is tons of kidney disease that has nothing to do with stones. That’s what I was looking for
