@@bigalforsyth your timing is perfect. I was just checking my window sticker last night. Oddly enough it states 4.10 early on in the breakdown and then further down it says 3.73. I didn’t think there was a 4.1 diesel either. Guess an error on the sticker

@@bigalforsyth ahhhh that makes even more sense now. The 4.1 noted in cause it’s in the Rubicon package. So I’ve read all the comments before asking this question because I didn’t see a clear answer from anyone. I have a 2021 Gladiator Willys with 3.73’s. I just got 35’s and I’m not seeing 8th on the hwys. Do I need to regear or stay where I am? I do not rock crawl. I go trail riding once or twice a year at best. Does going to 4.56 get any mpg back? I’ve lost 2 mpg but I knew that might happen. That does not really bother me though. CJ Offroad, please help.
Regearing is your best bet. 4.10 is good enough for 33’s - 35’s. Any tires between 35’s-38’s would hit all gears including 6,7,and 8 better with a 4.88. 4.88 will allow the 37’s or 38’s to still ride a feel like a Stock Jeep. Whenever you go up in tire size, you will lose about 2 or 4mpg. I’ve learned to just take it easy on the gas pedal and to keep my speed down. Besides high speeds kills parts faster and wear out tires quicker anyway.
@@DimplesChild401 What do you think about 4.56? Is that just not the way to go? I don't really see me running 37's in the future. If I get a better engine & trans in 10 speeds then gear is small issue but if stuck w/ 3.6 godless crap mini van engine & 8 speed trans gear is a big issue.
LOL. I should sell stickers that indicate that this rig is re-geared. Mall crawlers can put it next to their ARB stickers. After all it's not the gear they want, its the look. It stays in 8th gear on the highway seldom down shifts. It turns 1900rpm at 70mph
Hey broth I had gladiator rubicon I have 37 inch tire on it I want get 40’ do you think I need to regear to set 40 inch tire I don’t use for off road my Jeep is only for show and look good and daily drive to work
yes you should re gear for 40's
@@CJBroncoF150 okay thanks broth
@@CJBroncoF150 what gear you recommend me to do

I have a 2021 Diesel Rubicon Gladiator. It came with the optional 3.73. I changed the tires to a 35". I'm overlander, mall crawler. Do I need to regear? Thank You.
you can i would go to 4.10
Question, i too have a JT Gladiator Diesel Sport with 3.73 gears on 33’s. I want good gas mileage and will occasionally go off-roading. Should I re-gear and what brand do you recommend? Thank you
@@adrianaguirre3205 yukon or Dana are the ones i'd stick with. G2 is okay. Had 4.56 yukons in my 18 jlu manual and going with 4.56 in my 20 jlu 8speed. Both were/are on 35s. If you are staying with 33s or maybe one day going to 35s, i'd say 4.56.
Sorry my english , have an jeep JL 2020 stock, want convert it in an mall crawler 26”x14” dna american truxx with 37”x13.50 , what is the gear what i need and if have reinforce the terninals and it differentials .
How expensive to regear?
When the warranty is up.
Just picked up my 21 Gladiator Rubicon with the eco diesel (4.10) two days ago. Now talking to shops about what to do with lift and tire size. I DD it about 200kms/120miles a day. At best will do some over landing and some FSRs. Some shops say I should be okay with 37s the way it’s currently geared because I don’t have any plans for crawling or anything even close to crawling. However, other shop said even with 35s I should re-gear. Your thoughts?
Also, what is the rough cost to do a re-gear ?
Thanks in advance.
2k to 5k or more.
Might want to check that. THere's no 4.10 option in the JL Wrangler eco diesel so i would think you have 3.73s in the ecodiesel JT as well
@@bigalforsyth your timing is perfect. I was just checking my window sticker last night. Oddly enough it states 4.10 early on in the breakdown and then further down it says 3.73. I didn’t think there was a 4.1 diesel either. Guess an error on the sticker
@@jesselaporte7184
I’ve got a 21 max tow gladiator w the 4:10s and a 21 rubicon wrangler. I too thought it would have the 4:10 even though when we ordered it we opted for the eco diesel. What you are seeing on the window sticker is 4:10 is standard on rubicon but w the diesel it is now optioned w 3:73. Oh how I wish mine were 4:10 on the diesel one so it could spin bigger tires easier. It does fine because of how the torque multiplier is w turbo diesel but could be awesome w 4:10s
@@bigalforsyth ahhhh that makes even more sense now. The 4.1 noted in cause it’s in the Rubicon package. However, the diesel option overrides that and then backs it down to the 3.73 as noted later on. And yes, agreed. Guess just means I should regear, skip the 4.1 and go to 4.88 or 5.xx then laugh at those with 4.10 💪🏼
So I’ve read all the comments before asking this question because I didn’t see a clear answer from anyone.
At the moment with 3.73 if I see 8th gear is with the wind at my back. My mpg is honestly better in town. On the hwy it's shit. I understand, and agree, about the MPG loss and that is fine. Will 4.56 or 4.88 get my torque back or at least be able to run a higher hwy speed than what I am currently doing? 80 mph seems tough. I'm in a 2021 Gladiator Willys.
If I get a better engine & trans in 10 speeds then gear is small issue but if stuck w/ 3.6 godless crap mini van engine & 8 speed trans gear is a big issue.
Problem is people can't see if you regeared...
LOL. I should sell stickers that indicate that this rig is re-geared. Mall crawlers can put it next to their ARB stickers. After all it's not the gear they want, its the look. I''ll charge em 5 bucks vs. 1800$. The money they save can be used for more overland gear that they wont ever use or even know how.
Got 2020 gladiator sport s with 4.10 but i want 37in and a 6.5in lift but i do allot of towing and hwy driving what be the best 4.88 or 5.13?
My guesstimate would be 4.56. You should run stock gears first and see if your trans is always looking for 7th gear. Then maybe 4.56. Talk to your gear shop too
A 6.5 inch lift???
evo 6.5 mEVO 6.5" ENFORCER STAGE 4 PLUS SUSPENSION LIFT KIT WITH EVO SPEC 2.5 KING SHOCKS
Why are you doing a 6.5" lift for towing and highway driving?
I wanna run 35s and tow a lot. Probably going with 4.56 sine I have the 3.73 gay gears.
I have 35s on my sport not a off-road build besides very minimal. I just want 7th and 8th gear back. 4.10s or 4.56?
I'm going with 4.56 but alot of vids i'm seeing are snubbing their noses at it as solely for "mall crawling". Anything is better than the p.o.s. 3.45 gears on my jlu.
@@flatliner556 yes,we want 8 geras not 6 lol.Did you regear yet?
@@bud1lite I did. I cruise around 2100 Rpm at 75mph. Shift points are a tad wonky even though I programmed the geara in with a superchips programmer. Took a while to get everything due to supply chain issues for master build kits.
@@flatliner556 ok,cool, was wondering if 4.10/4.56 be better.Shifting between top two gears all the time at 55 can’t be good lol. Thanks for replying
@@bud1lite no problem. If i had to do it over again, I'd probably done 4.88s on the eventuality I step up to 37s.
So JL Rubicon with 37s I should put 488 or 513s?
488 best all round,decent mileage
Nobody with a built Jeep off roading on 40’s is running factory gearing so...unless it’s the diesel.
Can I email you? I still have questions.
I got a 90 yj 6cly with 3 SPD. Auto dana 30 got a 8.8 rear . 4.5 lift open up fenders going with 35 inches tires what do you guys think about new gears??
Do you have to Regear it for 35’ I gave a 2020 gladiator overland ?
No. You'll be fine. I ran that setup for a while without issue. When I went to 37s, I switched to 4.88s
@@SoCalJeepGladiator thanks bro
@Select What it cost me around $1200 and that included a follow up 500 mile check and drain and refill diff fluid. I went to Rebel Off Road in Laguna Hills CA
Another regear opinion with no math or accounting of the transmission gearing.
If you look at the 8 speed transmissions 7th gear on 37” tires it ends up as an almost identical ratio to a stock sport. If you turn off the gear indicator you would never really know the difference.

Hi, I'm pulling a 2500 lb off road trailer with a 2022 Rubicon Gladiator with 4:10 gears. On the hwy rarely do I get out of 6th gear at 70 mph. How do I lower rpms when pulling? I'm running stock everything with 33" tires with a 3.6 gas engine. Thanks.
