You're doing a nice job bro, love the accord, so reliable and beautiful then, I'm driving 1992 accord with so much fun, just subscribe to support your channel
I had about 5 97 accords. Best cars on the road I feel. This one needed a tune up bad. Throttle body cleanings are definitely overlooked and that alone with adjusting the throttle cable made this car a night and day difference in driving experience. If you get time check out my first video on here. My old channel got hacked at 3600 subs so I'm slowly working back up towards getting monetized again! 👍
@@CPSteveMiller so pity to know yours channel be hacked, god bless you, and proud of you to have 5 97 accords then
Thanks for the info I might clean the throttle body on my 1998 Accord the acceleration is slow and lackluster
Could there be an issue spraying throttle body cleaner directly into the intake manifold after the TB has been removed? Seems like it could get a lot of the crud it cleans to go deeper into the intake?
Whatever you can't get is going right into the engine. It's just oil but once you break it free the engine will burn it
my accord has two throttle cables. is yours like this
One should be for the cruise control
My throttle cable is not hooking back up properly and is stuck wide open when i do get it hooked up. Any idea how to fix that?
On a 2001 honda accord LX
Hey I cleaned my throttle body and put everything back but I turn my car on and shoots up to 8000rpms and burns coolant any thing?
By any chance do you know what’s the cable called, the one that connects to the sensor in the back I happened to brake the little clip so it’s stay loose
After i cleaned my throttle body, i followed you step by step did everything you did, replaced the gasket but now i have a whistle coming from the throttle body area, you have any idea what itncould be, its not my intake hecause i take it off the whistle is still there when idling
Sounds like there's a leak somewhere. I'd pull it off and check the gasket
Is there more than just the gasket connected to the throttle body? I replaced it, im thinking its air flow due to sharp edges which im sanding down rn just hoping for change
Will doing this enhance performance ? My car was stalling out and the problem was a missing hose; the same one that was connected to the black exhaust hose you took out and the end which leads to the corner head of the engine. Although that resolved the problem i still would like to do what you have done in the video; thanks for the upload! Cheers
You'll notice a much smoother/less jerky throttle pedal. It'll idle smoother depending on how bad it is which usually after all these years they're caked in oil. If you're experiencing a sticking pedal, sticking throttle, or slop on the pedal this is a great start that is always overlooked. After the 9 years she had this car she said it has never run this great(that was before I did the plugs and distributor cap and rotor). Everything combined it's a night and day different driving experience.
@@CPSteveMiller i have lost alot of power when accelerating; it accelerates but very slowly, like u know how the rpm should rise ? It stays at 2 for a while( and im sinking the gas pedal) then it slowy speeds up; when i first got the car it was more peppy idk; i will do what u have done and get back to ya. Ty for thre reply blessings bro!
@@brionadderley1643 Absolutely, no problem! It's one of those things you definitely won't regret it. Even if it doesn't fix all your problems it makes a big difference in most cases!
@@CPSteveMiller bro how long did u wait b4 starting it after doing all of this ?
@@brionadderley1643 I didn't wait at all. It will start up weird the first time though from the throttle body cleaner. Run it for about 10 minutes or drive it and it'll go back to normal
Very thorough video 👍
Do you know if the sell the water inlet on your throttle body the bottom one
Not sure
Question you used the same gasket
I recommend replacing it. We didn't have one at the time and it's my car so I just reused it. Car runs fine to this day. I daily it when I'm home. Makes a good beater
Hey man, i love how detailed your videos are, but I did the same thing now my car stalls when I press on the gas pedal. Do you know what that could be
Could be a vacuum leak. At first anything you spray in there will need to burn so it'll run rough for like 30 seconds but after that it should be fine. Cleanliness is key. Make sure all the hoses are hooked up properly as well and that there's nothing being choked. Other than that it's hard to say without seeing it!
Ur throttle position sensor isn’t plugged in?*
Do you know How to find the idle control valve
www.carparts.com/details/Honda/Accord/Replacement/Idle_Control_Valve/1998/REPH313205.html?TID=gglpla&origin=pla&gclid=Cj0KCQiArvX_BRCyARIsAKsnTxMogGlK9kEerdRGDXywSS0QzqfBQ39QOs9YUafT3jlCB-USeO3m0ZYaAmG1EALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds It's hard to explain so here's what you're looking for on the 98 accord
Hi question here bro, does it matter where the two coolant lines go on the iacv?? I disconnected the two bottom ones but I forgot which goes where
Definitely should make sure they go back in the correct spot 😬
Many people clean it in place. Do you find that approach insufficient?
It works but you can't get as thorough of a cleaning. It's super easy to pull. There's a lot hidden if you don't pull it
@@CPSteveMiller, I am sure that there is a lot hidden, but does that impact the performance of the engine?
@@humanyoda Maybe add some turbulence in there with air flow but not much. If you don't clean it out good enough the throttle body will still stick though and idle quality won't be as good as it could be.
I have the same car and P0505 code. I experience rough idling (RPM go up and down, many times in a row). Do you think the dirty throttle body could be the cause?
Doesn't hurt to clean it but you could have a vacuum leak somewhere as well
@@CPSteveMiller, is it expensive to have it fixed? The vacuum leak, I mean.
@@humanyoda You'd have to find out where it's leaking. If it's just a line then it's no problem and cheaper. If it's the intake manifold gaskets it'll be more expensive. It's hard to diagnose over the internet though. It could be a vacuum leak, bad sensor, bad ground, dirty throttle body, etc.. Throttle body cleaning is something that should be done anyway so I'd do that just for the sake of doing it and then adjust that throttle cable correctly. They stretch over time
@@CPSteveMiller, did you mean the mass air flow sensor?
What year you talking? 98s have a map sensor. Could be bad but they don't ever need cleaned. It's cheaper and easier to clean everything and spray all the vacuum lines to find a leak first. Then check sensors
My Honda Accord 2000 fuel consum
what are the issues you experience on having a dirty TB?
Rough idle, sluggish acceleration, stalling, sticking throttle pedal, and poor fuel mileage. You should be cleaning the throttle body at least once a year in my opinion.

Another great video
wow!.
First like 😬👍🏻
Bro the PVC on that is a pain in da ass!!!!!
