    My 2018 3500 Dually is deleted. I left my crankcase filter on and just added a catch can. Works just as good. No oil residue in the turbo.

    • @CPSteveMiller
      @CPSteveMiller  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah that's the important part is keep it from the turbo. I was told to delete the filter because without the suction of the turbo pulling gasses out it may be a restriction and possibly blow gaskets. Can't confirm but they get clogged up and need replaced eventually so once you install a catch can they are not needed. It's one less maintenance item👍

      How's the blowby of the engine? Valve seals, broken rings, turbo issues, injector issues, could be anything. Start with the blowby test. I've had a good running engine that had numerous broken rings😐 Hopefully not your case. It could be something minor but blowby is the easiest to check.

    I don’t understand why everyone wants to delete the ccv filter, all you need is a industrial valve cover and some 1.25” hose out the back mine comes out right after the trans cross member. The filter acts as a catch can and with a industrial cover it does not leak or spit any oil, you just have to change the filter when ever you start to smell oil, for me about every 100k. The key is the industrial cover.

    I would stray away from a vented catch-can on a boosted application. And instead route it back into the intake. The reason being to reduce positive crank case pressure.
    Check out 'Mann Hummel' brand filtered oil separator, aka catch can. Much higher quality than those generic cans. Their 'Provent 200' is the can I've used, and works very well.
    You can use reinforced clear vinyl tubing and heater hose barbed fittings for routing your lines to the can.
    Just wanted to add this to give people a better option than what looks like came in the shown kit.

    • @CPSteveMiller
      @CPSteveMiller  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You definitely do not want to put the tube into your intake. That's why most people go this route is to delete the factory's hose that already goes into the truck. With it directed in the turbo/intake you end up gunking up the turbo, intake, throttle valve, etc. All factory 5.9 trucks run the breather to the ground. Most guys who run high boost in race cars, drift cars, high horsepower boosted applications all run a catch can(mainly to keep oil off the trucks instead of dumping it on the ground). Not to mention it kills the turbo so much faster, again which is why you want to delete the factory's setup which already directs it into the intake. When you delete this hose that goes into the turbo you should pull the turbo and clean all the oil that's accumulated. Your turbo will also last much longer and thank you. I've replaced a bunch of turbos because of premature failure from this factory design. It's sad the epa and manufacture's don't care that these things don't last like they used to.
